Customers are saying

Customers commend the ENVY Desktop's speed, ease of setup, and ample memory, frequently citing its strong performance and value for the price. However, some users point to a limited number of USB ports and a power supply that may restrict expansion options, particularly for adding a dedicated graphics card. The quiet operation and attractive design were also frequently praised. While some users noted the presence of pre-installed software, others appreciated its absence.

This PC met all of my performance expectations and is an excellent option for anyone looking to replace an older computer that is ready to put out to pasture. Pros: - The I7 processor keeps all apps running quickly. You can't ask for much better performance in a processor. - The amount of RAM (16GB) will allow you to multitask without any issues. It is also a suffcient amount of memory for those that plan to use the system for gaming. Video editiors will also appreciate this amount of RAM. - Boot speed is the best I have seen on any Windows PC - The built in wireless card functioned well and provided excellent upload/download speeds for me Cons: - Windows updates still take longer than I would like. I appreciate the efficient updates of Chrome OS that take less than a minute. But of course, a Windows OS is capable of far more than Chrome OS. - I would like to see a design with front facing USB ports. These days everyone is charging multiple devices over USB, and it would be nice to see the ports easily if the tower is placed under your desk. Overall, this PC really impressed me and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful home computer that will serve them well for years to come.

I won’t re-hash the technical specs of the unit since Best Buy has those listed clearly. This is a great desktop computer that would rival the best gaming systems if you upgraded the power supply (currently 300W) and installed a video card! There’s plenty of room inside the case for extra hard drives and cards! This computer is very quiet, stable (so far) and was very easy to setup out of the box. It has every port you’d need and then some! If you’re a new Dropbox user you get 25gb free storage for a year. I’m a current user so I didn’t get any bonus which always confused me! Even the included keyboard and mouse are “OK”, but if you have purchased your own you’ll probably opt to use those. For those that will ask...no this doesn’t include a monitor and you won’t be able to use it without one! The un-boxing was clean and easy with minimal setup involved. AND...when you power up it gives you the CHOICE of what bloatware you want to install...if any! This is a great choice for anyone looking for a top tier consumer desktop.

Great Computer. Packed well and arrived quickly. Loaded with features, apps and programs you'd normally have to purchase separately. Large memory. It's fast and powerful, especially for gaming. And although it doesn't come with a monitor, it does come with its own wireless keyboard and wireless mouse that only takes up one usb port. Gave it only 4 stars out of a possible 5 stars because initial set up is a total hassle: it makes you setup a Microsoft Outlook account and email and password and P.I.N. if you don't already have a Microsoft cell phone or a Microsoft email. You have no choice but to allow it to collect all of your information and God knows what they will do with it. H.P. really made a mistake allow Microsoft's demands to influence how their computer works. Other than the aforementioned set up hassle it is a great computer that's a bargain for the price, and if you don't mind the set hassle and disclosure of your information I would recommend this computer.

    Great All Around Computer

First off, this is not a gaming computer, the built in video card is not up to par in my eyes for gaming. Where it really shines, the power to compute when I need it. I personally build apps and computer programs for CNC machining. This computer takes all the information and compiling I can give it without a hickup. The processor is plenty fast in today's standards and the memory will last a long time. I overloaded this computer with multiple programs running including my Plex server and it took it all, never got hot and never slowed down. Typical computer users will have a computer that will never show signs of being weak in every day use. Add a good video card and you can then have a great gaming machine. I am very happy with this computer, I really like the usb locations as well on the top of the tower.

    Great Office Machine

Out of the box, this machine is quite nice. From its brushed metal face and black casing to the internal components, this is a very nice computer. Good enough for a powerful office or student computer. It comes with Windows 10 Home, Intel 7th generation i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB of hard disk storage plus 16GB Optane Memory, media drive reader and a CDROM drive for those that still need one. It also comes with a Gigabit LAN and Wireless AC, Bluetooth 4.2, 5 USB 3.0 (one type-C and four type-A) and 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 HDMI ports. I’m not a real Windows fan anymore (MacOS user now) but Windows 10 is the best Microsoft operating system in my opinion. For the Windows 7 fans, 10 fixed all those flaws that we complained about in Windows 8 and added better features. MS Office comes as a free trial version. No photo or video editing software. I like that it didn’t come with much unwanted, junk software. It does come with an HP Recovery Manager app which lets you make one(1) copy of the Recovery media. What is Intel® Optane™ Memory? Optane™ Memory is cache memory that helps reduce boot times and load times. It’s like having an SSD (Solid State Drive) instead of a regular spindle type of hard drive. The 16GB Optane Memory is combined (concatenated) with the 1TB hard drive to make it work as one drive. The Optane memory can NOT be used for data storage. It is M.2 PCIe NVMe type (not SATA type) and it is removable. The onboard video card can handle 4K/30Hz resolution through the HDMI ports. Wireless keyboard and mouse uses a unified USB receiver. They’re both made of cheap plastic. Key presses sounds like the old mechanical keyboard from the olden days. Enough said. Pretty quite machine. Fans really don’t make much noise but of course, the hard drive and the optical drive make their typical noises. Still pretty quite overall. For my fellow geeks out there! Expansion slots include two open PCIe slots, one x16 and one x1. Two M.2 socket (key A & M) but they are used by the Optane memory and WIFI. It has one open SATA port out of three total. I replaced the Optane memory with a PCIe NVMe 256GB SSD and loaded my personal copy of Windows 10 and it worked out fine. I’ve included a pic of the inside of the case. Pros - Intel Optane Memory (upgradeable to 32GB) - USB 3.0 type-C port located at the top for easy access - Two HDMI ports for dual monitors - Pleasantly quiet - Reduced amount of pre-loaded junk software Cons - CPU and RAM not upgradeable; already maxed out to motherboard capability - 7th geneneration CPU; not the latest CPU - Windows 10 Home instead of Pro - No DP or DVI ports This computer is great for photo editing, office and school work . Because of the Optane™ Memory, it can handle light to medium video editing projects. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with this computer.

Havent been a big fan of HP desktops in a long time, but, as time passes, there are fewer companies making desktop PC's, and as it turns out, from what I have read recently, HP is now the number 1 seller of them. This model has some HP Bloatware on it, but it was easy to disable it, and after doing that, and running all the windows 10 updates, its running pretty well, and so far no issues The USB ports are placed in a hard to get area on top, and there isnt alot of inputs on the back, but for what you pay for this, is should be adequate for home/small business use.Runs quiet, not alot of heat generated, and hopefully will last a few years before needing to be replaced.

This is the fastest computer I have had yet. This seems nearly instant in comparison. Great for streaming HD videos. The 1TB hard drive is large enough to hold all of my media files and multiple large programs that I have such as PhotoShop Elements and Premiere Elements 2018, etc. and plenty of room for much more. An added bonus is that this comes with a wireless mouse and keyboard (less wires). There are plenty of USB ports for all of my "gadgets" and charging needs. The nice thing I found is that some are recessed into the top of the unit instead of in front which makes for a more streamlined look.
