Customers are saying

Customers commend the ENVY Desktop's speed, ease of setup, and ample memory, frequently citing its strong performance and value for the price. However, some users point to a limited number of USB ports and a power supply that may restrict expansion options, particularly for adding a dedicated graphics card. The quiet operation and attractive design were also frequently praised. While some users noted the presence of pre-installed software, others appreciated its absence.

    Powerful PC with Stunning Aesthetics

It having been several years since I last owned a dedicated Windows desktop computer, my expectations were mixed. How would the operating system, Windows 10, function and how much have desktop processors, RAM, memory, and stability improved over time? The HP Envy 750-624 is one of the models in the larger 750-xxx line. To differentiate, the 750-624 features a 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor, 16 GB memory, 1 TB HDD storage, and Intel® HD Graphics 630. The aesthetics of the 750-624 are very impressive. Long gone, thankfully, are the grey plastic HP cases of old. The brushed metal finish of the 750-624 is aesthetically pleasing; stunning even. This tower, with its modern/contemporary appeal, can easily be left out in the open instead of being hidden or tucked away. Overall processing performance was exceptional. Video and music play back was flawless. Multi simultaneous program usage proved no problem for the 750-624. This was in large part due to its combination of DDR4-2133 SDRAM, Intel Core i7 processor, and Intel® Optane™ Memory. Everything I threw at the 750-624 it handled with ease. Most importantly, perhaps, it did so with no software glitches, freezes, and/or odd behavior(s). Overall, the HP 759-624 has proven to be a highly capable, dependable, and aesthetically pleasing addition to my home office. It appears that the days of the clunky plastic towers and glitchy operating system software have thankfully been left in the past. Along with the tower you receive a wireless keyboard and mouse which also functioned perfectly and are sufficient for normal use. Gamers and other niche users would certainly benefit from third party peripherals which cater to their specific needs.

This item was very expensive. You would think it would work for 5 years before it stop working. The computer has yet to try to correct the problem. We will probably take the computer back to Best Buy.

The HP computer was very unsatisfactory. I was slow and would download of my programs so i had to return it and bought something else that I haven't used yet. The headphones are heavy. The cleaning items are good and hdmi cable is good too.

after getting use to Apple Computers, this machine with for better specs than my iMAC, could not hold a candle to the Apple. out of the box I plugged it in, and got error after error and software ( bloatware ) updates for over an hour before the PC ready usable. the iMAC, although the Specs are not as good as this HP PC and much more expensive, but worth Every Penny as it was opening the box, plugged it in and worked from minute 1, and has been working Perfectly for well over a month now. if you are able to spend more, I would strongly recommed Apple machines over windows PC's every time!!!

    Elegant & Powerful

I researched for about two weeks to replace an older HP Pavilion that lasted 6+ years. It was great but began to lag. I wanted a PC that was top of the line and not break the bank. This PC hit the mark. Yeah there are a couple of nit picks like the card-reader and USB ports on the top, but compared to the processing speed (Optane is a very BIG plus) well let's just say that I hope this one at the end of 6 or 7 years works as then as it does now. Loved the option of getting read of the anti-virus offer and one other I can't remember because I sent it gone right away. It listed at Best Buy for $929 and on HP for $799 and Best Buy matched the price (good on ya Best Buy). So there is not a better combo HP & Best Buy.

Two in 24 hrs. One was shipped to our office, would not boot to windows past the HP logo, exchanged it at a local BB and the 2nd one is doing the same thing. HP tech support reported there must be a hardware issue. Not looking good for this machine. Will be returning and going with another product.

A fast powerful desktop missing one thing

I've been using this desktop for a couple of days now and its been a really pleasant experience. Once i uninstalled some of the pre-loaded software and set it up to how i like it i have been pretty happy. This has the new Intel Optane Memory in the storage and boy does that make a difference, it speeds thing's up considerably, almost matching SSD speeds with some things, thats what makes this different to the previous model and its a welcome update. It writes and reads very fast so transferring files from my phone and tablet are super easy. In the box you also get a wireless mouse and keyboard which is a nice touch as a lot of PC's come with standard wired accessories. One downside which is the reason i gave it 3 stars is no dedicated GPU and at this price you would expect something. While the Intel graphics are OK, dont expect to do any real gaming on this. You do however have room to install your own GPU but may also want to look at the PSU to be sure of power requirements Overall this is a fast and quiet desktop. It works well for editing, and 4k media, does pretty much anything you want other than gaming.

Great CPU/RAM, Cheap GPU, Lousy Bloatware

The specs are all there for this to be a really great PC. It boots really fast and seems to get around with ease. I really like that HP opted to include a wireless kb and mouse. They are really cheap in build quality (as is the pc case), but it's better than the usual corded nonsense you typically get with most PCs. That keyboard is crazy though...the keys are arranged in a very strange manner. Overall the PC is quiet....all except for the Hard Drive...that thing makes a lot of noise. You cannot hear the fans inside the case though. I think where this PC really fails is with regards to the integrated GPU on the Intel chip. The Intel 630 is simply not up to snuff when it comes to a PC with an i7. It should have come with discrete graphics. There should be a decent Nvidia card in here so you can really enjoy what the PC has to offer in terms of power. As with any off the shelf PC you'll deal with bloatware. This is really the only reason I took off a star. I struggled a good bit with HP's Support Assistant. The machine rebooted to install updates and afterwards wouldn't connect to my monitor anymore. I had to move it to a different monitor. I've yet to troubleshoot that, but once I get a chance to I will try the other monitor again. Lastly, HP's support assistant went through a couple updates and then wouldn't launch anymore. I ended up having to uninstall it and go download a new copy from HP's site. It's just a real drag having to deal with stuff like that. Overall, I'd recommend the PC to people who want a PC with some power, but who aren't looking to play games. Unless you're willing to drop another $500+ for a good GPU you're kinda stuck with solitaire. The price to me is a little high considering you can build your own gaming PC for just a bit more money. If I were going to get this machine again I'd wait until it was down in price to around $600-700.

HP ENVY is Optimized for Performance

The HP ENVY desktop delivers industry-leading performance that will handle high end applications with ease. I love the design of the chassis and the connection options (USB, HDMI, etc.). I work with HD video content regularly, (video editing, video format conversions, graphic design and so on) and the HP ENVY allows me to work through these tasks without experiencing performance limitations due to a lack of available systems resources. I also run a small lab (with virtual machines) at home. I migrated that environment to the HP ENVY and it runs great. My lab is amazingly responsive. The best part is, I can run both of these (my lab and video editing) at the same time without performance problems. I typically do not game on a computer system, but I decided to try gaming on the HP ENVY and I was immediately consumed with the immersive graphics delivered from this desktop. The games I played were HD content. (ex. Gears of War) Performance analysis shows that during high demand activities: CPU: Intel i7 - never exceeded 60% utilization Memory (RAM): Maximum of 12GB consumed by running services (approx. 4GB RAM available for other applications if needed) Hard drive: 1TB - plenty of space for daily operations. Graphics (GPU): 4K capable Network performance: Gigabit performance. No latency when transferring files or downloading content from the internet. The HP ENVY is a solid desktop system that will provide the performance you need for all of your computing tasks. I highly recommend.

    Great Machine For Everyday Use!

This is a perfect machine for every day use. It is speedy with plenty of hard drive storage and is very responsive. I like the Intel Optane Memory. It speeds up access to the applications you use routinely. While this machine does work very well for video editing and gaming, 32 GB of RAM would have significantly improved this machines overall performance. However if you're using this machine for simple video editing, simple gaming etc, you can't go wrong. I would definitely recommend this computer.

    Great hardware configuration

It is good to have a tower box again that has PCI slots. It has been my 30+ years experience that the tower form factor can keep up with the latest computer add-ons giving years of service over the clam shell desktops or the portables. The i7 Pentium processor assures some of the 3D authoring software can be installed. The machine also runs fantastic with a Live CD of Ubuntu 16.04 booting the box. With Win10, the Envy accomplishes multi-tasking with ease. I can compile software or render video files in the background while surfing the web. Virtually no bottleneck on multi-tasking.

This computer was bought to replace a customer's business computer that finally died. It's a real speed demon and handles anything I can throw at it! Although I have not tried, I'm betting if you install a good 3D graphics card from either nVidia or AMD, it would be a great gaming system as well! There's not a lot of expansion slots on the motherboard though, so keep that in mind. Great system for the money though!

    Pretty disappointed

Bought this a couple months back on sale. I can say I'm really disappointed. First off, it can take 3-6 minutes just to boot up, which is horribly slow for a brand new PC. Second, the login is super slow at times as well, and can take a couple minutes after logging in to even load. Also, I believe that I have been blue screened twice already even though it is "state of the art." Wish I had gone the cheaper route, that way it might have been better performance

Computer Graphics not compatible with Artist 16

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Last week, I Purchased the HP ENVY I7/16GB Ram/Stock Intel HD graphics specifically to support the XP-PEN Artist 16 graphics tablet. Unboxed both products and hooked them up and all worked out of the box, as expected. However, after the initial windows update the Artist 16 no longer worked. On initial computer power up, the Artist 16 will briefly display the HP logo (along with the primary monitor) but once windows starts, it displays the message "No Support" with a green LED and then goes to sleep. Did all the standard troubleshooting: uninstalled/reinstalled drivers on both products, tried reverted to older drivers, etc. with no change in behavior. Contacted HP support and they were unable to resolve the issue. Contacted XP-Pen and at least they are still trying to work out what the problem is. So essentially the products are expensive paper weights. Sad a standard thing like video drivers are still an issue this day in age. I very disappointed in HP's response which is basically "they can't be responsible for 3rd party software/ hardware" and then kindly offered to point me to a charge based service to resolve. It will be the last HP product I purchase.

Poor quality mouse and keyboard. Overpriced.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For $900ish for a CPU, I would have expected Apple-quality build standards for the mouse and keyboard. This is a small, cheap, plastic keyboard. Keys are crowded. Numeric keypad and arrow keys are not isolated and are hard to find. Mouse is cheap plastic as well and has a rough/sharp seam that goes all the way around, making the mouse uncomfortable to use. For $900, disappointing that I will have to buy aftermarket add-ons.

    Mic/Audio Does Not Work

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy this product. The Audio/Mic or anything that has something to do with Sound is messed up. This is my second time getting this product. The first one I had to exchange because I thought it was just the device having a mic problem, but apparently the mic features as well as audio play are messed up on every one of these products. I can't even call my friends without them hearing me or without the Youtube video glitching up whenever I talk. And this is just it being the bluetooth feature. If you are going to use the audio jack, don't bother. It doesn't pick up your voice. I'm going to return this product and not bother exchanging it. A waste of time.

Hardware & software did not work out of the box

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

At first the computer seemed OK, then it would freeze for no reason. I would restart it at the off-on button, usually 3 to 6 times. Automatic software repair would run, then maybe it would work. I would have to repeat the process 3 to 6 times. I called HP support and was told to uninstall and reinstall Windows--obviously the HP hardware could not be the problem. About 2 hours after Windows was reinstalled, nothing worked. Only the computer fan.
