    good laptop for the price

I bought this laptop 2 months ago and could't be happier. It met all my expectations - light weight, good touch screen, keyboard light for night, quick start up (SSD drive), good battery life and enough memory / processing speed. I was happy to know, I don't have issues with it being loud or noise fans at all. Hinge works nicely to use a a tablet. The only thing for improvement is the fingerprint reader is very sensitive, so I use my pin 80% of the time. The keyboard take time to get used as I need to shift my hands left, as the keypad on the right give you the impression you are not centered on the keyboard. I would recommend it to someone looking for a good priced touch screen valued laptop.

    Fantastic Laptop!

With the travesty that was Windows 8, I sold an otherwise great HP laptop, and bought a Macbook Pro Retina. While the Mac was a good computer, but Apple's lack of updating Mac OS has been pretty lame, especially considering how expensive their gear is. Recently decided to pick up a larger screen laptop (the Macbook was a 13 inch) and did a ton of research on different models. Windows 10 is a fantastic operating system, and coupled with the Solid State Hard Drive, and 12 GB of RAM make this one fast computer! Keyboard backlighting is really good, and the typing feel is the best I have used. Battery life is awesome, screen is great, and the construction/feel of the entire laptop is top-shelf. The 2-in-1 features are another nice addition to an already great laptop. No regrets about coming back to Windows, and HP made a great computer with this model!

    Ready for the future

This computer is fast and futuristic. Take note, it has no DVD drive. So, if you own a a few great DVD movies, like I do, you'll have to purchase a separate DVD drive for $29.99. At first I was disappointed that it only has 1 USB port. After doing research, I discovered that the Type A USB ports (rectangular) are becoming obsolete and being replaced with 3.1 Type C ports. This computer has (1) 3.1 Type C port. The Solid State processor has no moving parts to break and it doesn't heat up. The battery life is very good. I bought the Bamboo Ink Stylus bundle, and I'm impressed with the fact that it can solve a math problem among many other pretty cool things. The computer is thin, lightweight, and built sturdy. The speakers have good sound and volume. The keys are comfortable and the silver look is very stylish. It has a 10-key number pad on the right, which is an absolute must-have for me. The 2-in-1 feature is what I like most about it. I can use it flat, upright, etc, and I feel like the hinge won't break as easily. The only drawback, and the reason for the full 1-star reduction, is the quality of the screen. It is not terrible quality, but it is more dim with slightly less vibrant colors than what's on the market right now. I'm guessing the lower resolution is what makes the battery last so long. Overall, I am really quite happy with this computer.

    Great laptop for most people.

This laptop is very quick due to its SSD, so there is minimal lag; programs open very quickly and everything is smooth. With the default fan settings, it can get very noisy for no reason, but you can change it. I recommend it for college students, unless your classes require graphics-intensive software. If you are a gamer, this laptop is not for you. It uses integrated graphics and there is no Thunderbolt 3 port for an eGPU. Battery-wise, this laptop is "decent" but should last a day with light to moderate use. I recommend that you bring your charger to be safe, however. Unlike many laptops, this one is pretty light on bloatware, which is great. Overall, I recommend this laptop as it can handle a lot of things with ease, minus graphics-intensive software.

have been using it since 2019. have had minor issues where it won't connect with Wi-Fi, had t soft reset. It's been working fine since then. but now it doesn't detect any Bluetooth device, which it actually was fine with before. i refuse to reset again. that is pain in the neck. I own Cricut, craft machine which now i have to connect with wire instead of Bluetooth. other than that, it has been working fine.

I purchased this laptop after my Macbook Pro bit the dust. I'm using this as my primary laptop for work and school. This thing is super fast! It starts up in 3-6 seconds. The fingerprint reader is super fast, the screen looks amazing, the speakers sound great and the battery life on this is excellent. I'm in love with this laptop. It'll be my best friend for the next 5 years at least! :)

    Good portable computer for non-gamers

I chose the Envy x360 for college class work in software development. We utilize the Microsoft Office 365 suite, Web browsers, software IDEs, and even virtual machine environments. Beginning with the positives, the aluminum body is more durable than plastic in most situations. Also in regard to durability, the solid state drive isn't prone to damage while jolting, shifting, etc your computer, unlike a hard disk drive. Additionally, the SSD is fast, much faster than an HDD. And with the Core i7 CPU, this machine boots in about 15 seconds, and handles most other tasks in seconds. Other perks include a full HD (1080p) display, quad-core CPU, full-size keyboard with number pad, touchscreen, biometric login features (e.g., fingerprint scanner), HDMI port, Bluetooth, latest Wi-Fi standards compatibility, a camera with IR, and tablet mode support. The battery usually provides 4-8 hours of operation and I've had no problems with Wi-Fi performance/connectivity. As for the complaints, my first involves the fingerprint reader. It can be very finicky to use. I assume this is in part due to it being so skinny, about have the width of my finger. So, in addition to cleaning it regularly, which is a generally good idea, you need to be aware of how you place your fingertip. The next problem I've experienced is unreliable USB performance. In fairness, this is apparently not a hardware issue, thus not HP's fault. Instead, it falls onto Microsoft and their subpar Windows OS efforts. To summarize, Windows 10 has a bug -- do a Web search on your own to verify -- that causes devices to not perform at USB 3.0/3.1 speed despite their capability to do so. For example, I have a super speed flash-based thumb drive that occasionally achieves 200MBps+ transfer speed, though that's by no expectations consistent. Normally, Windows limits the data transfer to USB 2.x speed. (And yes, I've made all of the setting suggestions with no absolute change, plus the aforementioned USB drive always performs at top speed when connected to my macOS system.) Lastly, the display has a glossy finish, which may cause problems during use in certain lighting conditions, and (as should be expected) the small speakers perform fine with higher frequency audio but don't produce any degree of rumbling bass. For watching and listening to lectures and similar, the speaker system is fine. However, if you watch movies, etc often, you'll probably want to rely on earphones/headphones. Overall, I rate this model at 4.5 stars for its features and general performance. It has its quirks, but they're usually just a brief inconvenience, plus it's not HP's fault Microsoft has poor quality control.

    Bang for your buck

FYI: I purchased this laptop during this past black Friday sale I originally owned a Macbook which had lasted me about a decade; it had recently crashed on me. I was not too pressed to get a Macbook again since they cost a fortune, so considering I was seeking a 2-in-1 anyways, I stumbled upon this gem!! The touchscreen is very responsive! the Screen is huge, the display is crystal clear. This laptop is also super fast (i7 processor totally worth it). You get enough RAM and SSD, and the exterior is sturdy. For about $700, this is a fantastic deal. Too bad I missed the student promotion back in September, or else I would have purchased it for about $600-650. Overall, perfect for work and school!

    Bad Fan or Bad Brand?

To be 100%, I bought it as an open box for $773, so it's possible I got a bad one. I also bought the Wacom Bamboo Ink stylus and it was great for the 5 or so minutes that I tried it out. But the fan on this machine was terribly loud and ended up being too much for me considering the usage. The fan noise initially grew loud after the start-up process. To be fair, for about 20 minutes I had it on my bed and forgot to put it on a hard surface so I figured that's what it was. Well I shut it down to let it cool off for a while. Again after about 30 minutes of web browsing (this time on a hard surface, using google chrome with about 8 tabs open, as well as an simple excel spreadsheet open, no macros or anything like that) the fan started blowing extremely loud. I gave it a try for about a week with the charger in, charger out, dimmed screen, etc., but the fan noise was unbearable for me considering I wasn't doing anything major. I had someone tell me because of the integrated graphics card, the processor was working too hard, especially with all those tabs open. But if I'm "overworking" it while browsing, what'll happen when I get into light web page editing, content creation, etc.? I exchanged it for a HP Spectre, who's fan was MUCH WORSE under similar conditions. So I returned it as well.
