I wish I had seen this review option earlier. I believe this laptop is no longer available but perhaps someone could use this as general info regarding HP ENVY laptops. Anyway, I have had mine for 3-1/2 years without any problems whatsoever. It is fast and always does what I want. I highly recommend the HP ENVY laptop series!

    Solid laptop with minor issues

I have been using this laptop for a month now. It is a very good laptop, with solid built and quality. It boots fast and very responsive, I like the touchscreen though I don't use it that often. Lately I have noticed that the laptop heats up quick and the fan kicks in even when I am not opening many programs, sometimes the fan is on even with no program is on. Also the laptop makes an annoy static noise when it's plugged with a full charge, despite these minor issues I am happy with the purchase.

    Good laptop, could be better

In all fairness, this is a good laptop. Picture quality was passable but laptop gave me no other problems. Not noisy, was fast, responsive and efficient. However, I returned it because the silver keyboard combined with backlit was in my face in a dimly lit room. Otherwise, good sound, decent performance for the money. One other concern -- I did not like the tactile response from the keys. Dull and dead keys -- try an HP Spectre and you'll know what I mean. Or try a MacBook Pro/Air for comparison of how the keys feel.

Ive exchanged the new hp amd ryzen 8 powered envy 13 inch with this laptop due to the amd unit being littered with problems such as wifi adapter problems, construction defects and blue screening. this is a much better system. the amd laptop always had fans running and was still blazing hot just browsing the internet. this laptop runs very cool and ive only heard the fans running when downloading a game on steam while watching youtube while browsing on other tabs. just amazing. theres virtually zero lag with this system which is a great change from the amd ryzen 8 system ive experienced. my only gripes is that the screen is not as vibrant as the amd and the trackpad is not glass. battery life is not amazing similar to the amd system or a little better. overall a great laptop for a college student like me.

Battery life sucks! HDD spin and Fan are noisy

Overall it is a great laptop. With some best config specs available in the market. However there a few drawbacks. First and foremost the battery life is awful. It is advertised as 12.5hrs but it does not even stand up to half (6hrs) of it. Barely lasts upto 4hrs with minimal usage. With 15inch screen, I wish they could have included a much bigger and powerful battery. Secondly, the HDD spinning and also fan noise sometimes gets loud. I'm checking with HP to see if they can do something about the battery life.

Bought this for my son for college. It is really fast and he loves the 360 capability. If he's watching a video, it can fold backwards and stand up on a tabletop. Also, he bought a bamboo stylus - and he can fold it backwards and draw on the tablet part. We have yet to see how it does with schoolwork (lol) - but as far as ease of use and fast response, this computer is exceeding my expectations.

I've only ever had one other laptop it was a Dell inspiron and it was slowly dying bc i had it for nearly 7 years. Anyways I was looking to buy another Dell but when i went into my nearby bestbuy I saw the HP computers and they were looking mighty fine, but I also wanted a good buy I had researched a lot about stuff like the processor and the type of drive i wanted. I was looking for a fast laptop that was at least i5 and at least 8gb ram and i was looking for a solid state drive too. And I saw this laptop the Envy x360 and wow the specs are incredible with core i7 and 12gb ram!! plus it was a solid state drive and it has backlit keyboard. Anyways I am using as a college student but I will graduate soon and will continue to use it well, it is extremely fast and easy to use and the battery life is enough for me all day at my classes doing class work and watching youtube videos! I've had it for like over a month now and yeah I am very happy, I still need to buy a pen for it bc i like drawing and want to use the windows ink feature. BTW i got it for a little over 800 bucks which was my budget limit and i think it was definitely worth the money!

I got this computer exactly a week ago and the day I brought it home the curser / arrow would freeze in the task bar after a few minutes of use. Took it back to the store and Geek Squad updated the touchpad. Still had the problem so I took it back again. Fortunately the same problem occurred while the tech was testing it out and on the spot he offered me a new one. I have had the new one 2 days and so far so good. It is extremely fast and powerful, the best computer I have ever had. I'm learning to use the 2-in-1 part of the screen since I have never had one before. It is lightweight which is nice, but it doesn't really matter since I just use it for home use, not travel. It does not have a CD / DVD drive which is ok. I am old school and sometimes I watch DVDs on laptop so I might invest in a portable DVD drive. Not expensive. It is so quick to start up and shut down compared to my old HP laptop which was a budget computer. I had been looking at this computer for a couple of months and it finally went on sale plus I had a 10% coupon so I bundled it with as much as I could. Lot of computer for the buck! I highly recommend this computer!

I went from Mac to HP I love this laptop. It’s big screen, I use it for streaming, internet surfing and some light work/ school duties. I bought on sale and very happy with purchase. I’d recommend. Processor is fast and love that it’s touch screen and you can flip the screen in other direction so it’s ljke a big iPad.

    Burning Hot, and Loud Fan

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Unfortunately, this laptop fan would not stop running LOUDLY. The fan runs NON_STOP even during light use. Fan wouldn't stop running even on having 1 single PDF Adobe Acrobat page open, nothing else. I will make an attempt to return this disappointing laptop, but may be hard to get through the ridiculous 14-Day Returns Rule at BestBuy. The keyboard, the hardware is extremely HOT all the time. Very unhappy, and dissatisfied with this Laptop. I had high hopes for this. It also froze on me twice, where you couldn't use Touch or Track pad, with everything frozen in time. The keys are not that smooth, they require pressure like Mac computers require. Uncool. The Sound quality is very disappointing as well. (Compared to my previous 2 in 1 Touch laptops such as Toshiba) Battery life is much shorter than in the descriptions, probably due to this Fan and heat issue. Something is very wrong with this laptop and I can't afford another one.

I got this with a discount of $250 during Black Friday. Woot woot! Wide screen. Really fast internet. Fanstastic graphics. Tablet mode is really nice and mainly works well with bamboo ink pen. I keep accidentally locking the keyboard when using the pen- don't know yet if it's HP or the pen. I just have to lock and unlock my laptop in order to get the keyboard back. When folding the laptop flat for the tablet mode- the fan seems to be working in over drive. You must buy the stylus pen and Microsoft word, excel, etc as extra. I bought the manufacturer's extended 3 year warranty for protection. I uninstalled McAfee b/c they had a pop up that covered the majority of the screen and I could not close out. It was a giant pain. I replaced it with Avast.

    Worst HP I've Ever Owned

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've owned HP laptops for 15 years, and have loved them. This is the worst HP I've ever owned. The computer is loud right out of the box - the fan doesn't shut off. (Google it before you buy - I wish I had.) I took my first one back and exchanged it for more memory and it has the same problem. Even with updating Bios, it's still loud. It can't handle heavy multi-tasking, and I have to close out programs and restart them often. (Never had this problem with prior laptops.) And if you move around the screen while talking on Skype, the other person can't hear you. I've called HP support, and they made adjustments that caused me to lose my emails. Then they wanted to charge me to have a higher level tech help me. I waited on hold for 40 minutes and finally disconnected. Now people on Skype can't hear me at all. I'm ready to throw this thing out of the window. Unfortunately, this is for my home office. I called them back today and now I have to send it in to be looked at. But meanwhile, if I want to work, I'm going to have to buy something to use since it will take 2 weeks for them to check the computer out. Worst experience ever.

Overall- Good laptop for casual and light business uses. Build: The build consists of a aluminum with silver paint. Seems pretty durable and nice for the price Screen: The screen is really good. The viewing angles are nice and the text is legible and crisp. Keyboard: The keyboard is backlit and has even light distribution. Nothing to complain about here. Trackpad: While small, the trackpad is nice and works really. No issues found here either.

I have had this computer about two years now, using it in my office and at home. At the office I connect to a much larger free standing monitor and a separate keyboard. I have had no problems in two years and I love this computer! Mine has an i5 processor and 8 GB RAM and works great! I use MS office 365, Quick Books, and an EHR program.

    Beware: Do Not Purchase

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this laptop a few months ago (Aug 2018) and right away I had freezing issues. I was still mainly using my old laptop so it took me a while to determine that the freezing for this laptop was a real ongoing issue. When it freezes none of the applications work, the mouse doesn’t work either so you just have to power down. Please note there is another reviewer that has the same issue. It happens intermittently but consistently. I wasn’t familiar with Best Buys return policy which now I know is super short (15 days). I contacted them after a month and they referred me to HP. HP customer service is awful. The first guy I spoke to was very nice but kept trying to up-sell me things like an extended warranty, anti-virus, etc. First guy did a factory reset and freezing still continued. The second guy I spoke to was very aggressive and at what point asked me “so what do you want?” He felt that I should be transferred to a different area which charges a fee even though I’m still under the manufacturer’s warranty. After arguing with him and a long hold he agreed to run a system hardware test. Now they’re sending me some kind of recovery media. Anyhow I’m disappointed that the brand new laptop is not working, I’m disappointed that Best Buy return policy is so short, and most of all I’m disappointed that HP is so reluctant to stand behind the manufacturer’s warranty. I’m an understanding person sometimes products can be faulty but how the company chooses to handle this is huge to me. HP has truly let me down.

Good overall performance, design. Average display.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Good value for money. Solid construction and an aesthetic design. No issues with performance. Display needs improvement, blue color is pixelated, some windows apps appear blurry, and there are scaling issues. When you connect ear phones and play some video in browser there is 3 s delay in starting the audio. If these are software issues, I hope HP resolves them soon through an update.
