Received my Epson EcoTank ET-3830 AIO Cartridge Free SuperTank Printer a few days ago and have been testing it out over the last few days. Inside the box along with the printer is: Power Cord, Ink Bottles (Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow), and User Documentation (including a CD for those that have systems with CD Drives). Setting up and getting started is fairly simple following the included Quick Start Guide. Following the guide, you can setup the printer either by downloading the Epson Smart Panel App from the iOS App Store for iPhones or the Google Play Store for Android devices. The app is also compatible for tablets. The guide also gives you the option to skip the app and head to filling in the tanks. As stated before, all 4 color bottles of ink are included in the package. To get started after removing the packaging tape, lift up the top part of the scanner and flip open the ink tank cover. Then flip open the cap for the black ink tank and insert the black ink bottle into the slot for the black ink. Make sure not to squeeze the bottle, as it will stop when it's full. Continue the same for the rest of the colors. After all of the ink is filled, add some paper to the printer and plug in the power cord. Startup the printer and follow the rest of the setup process. This part will take sometime as it takes 10 minutes for the ink charging process to take place. It seemed like forever. After the ink charging is complete, the printer will guide you through the print head alignment which honestly seemed like another 10 to 15 minutes. Once that's complete you are now finally ready to start using the printer. You can connect the printer to your home (or work) WIFI network or via Ethernet. After connecting it to the internet, you may get a message of a firmware update available. It's best to go ahead and do the quick firmware update. On the screen panel you can adjust the settings to your liking. One thing I would have liked to see was the ability to change how much ink is used. Which you can change this but as of right now it looks like its on a print-by-print basis; just wish it was a setting I could set it for all printing. I do like this printer, however, it seems as though it would be better suited for a home office than a regular work type office. In my testing, what I've found is when I place something on the scanner, it takes longer to print vs. when I print something from my computer. Overall decent computer. Recommended for home usage.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the prints and the scans that the ET-3830 produces. It's a little bit slow, but that's ok for my needs. It might not be fast enough for office use. I really like the tank set up, and it was much easier to fill than I expected. I like that it reduces waste and that it should save me money in the long run as well. Setting up the printer was pretty easy, I just followed the instructions and downloaded the app to my phone and followed the prompts. There was a hang up with the firmware update though, it didn't want to update through the phone app, or through the software I downloaded on my PC. It finally updated by using the screen and keypad on the front of the printer though. Getting it all set up and running took quite a bit of time, this printer is not in a hurry to do anything quickly. It does make some really high quality prints though, and the software seems to work very well both from my phone, and from my PC. I also like that it integrated with my PC so I can just hit print in whatever program I'm using and it just works without a fuss. It also scans photos and documents very well too, with sharp lines, and it captures even the tiny details perfectly, but once again it's pretty slow. Overall I'm pretty happy with my new printer especially with how easy and smoothly it works with both my phone and my PC. The image print quality is amazing and I like that I won't have to keep buying refill cartridges. If you're in the market for a new printer for personal use at home, I highly recommend the ET-3830.

Based upon all the features that this printer has, I was amazed at its compact size. It is one of the easiest to set up printers I have ever used. All you have to do is remove the packing material from the printer, download the mobile application, turn the printer, and it will guide you step by step through the setup process. The screen on the printer is informative but not a touchscreen. However, it can do all configurations in the mobile application. Unlike a lot of other printers, it does not come with half-empty 'starter' ink supplies. The liquid ink bottles are pretty massive, especially the black. I expected filling them to be messy compared to regular cartridge ink, but the process was clean and straightforward. All you do is open the matching ink reservoir, screw open the ink bottle, place it in the reservoir slot, and it quickly fills up in about a minute. All of the included bottles had ink leftover, and the reservoir did go down a little during the initializing step. Printing is fast and it holds up to 250 sheets for long periods of uninterrupted printing. If you need a professional-grade printer/scanner for small spaces, this is a great option.

    ET-3830 new purchase

I bought this Epson ET-3830 to replace a 10 year old color laser that is on its way out. As we are gradually shifting more to our tablets and phones, the old color laser was difficult to print to. It's networked, but not wireless and just not terribly "friendly" in today's environment. I read a LOT of the reviews here. This is not a difficult printer to set up. The app really steps you through it. It does take some time and there are some things that could be improved upon by Epson. Like the alignment procedure. However, I bought it knowing this was something people pointed out and was prepared to waste 4 sheets of paper doing the alignment. It really isn't a big deal, just a bit tedious and requires good lighting to be able to see the miniscule differences in the alignment choices printed. Wasted ink on setup... it's not wasted. The printer is shipped dry. When you set it up it has to not only initialize and charge the print heads, but also the long tubes carrying the ink to the printheads. So yeah, it visually depletes the ink in the tanks, Visually, it looks like it took about 20% to fill the tubes and heads. But that ink isn't wasted by any means. It's in the tubes and heads waiting to be used! Wireless setup was about as close to effortless as it can be. I haven't bothered connecting the ethernet at this point and may just leave it as wireless. As far as connecting... we use chromebooks, chrome tablets, iPads, and Android phones. The printer just miraculously appeared on the chromeOS devices when you go into settings to add a printer. It's just there... click ADD... done. iPads? Airprint... destination?... there's the ET3830... select... done. Print quality appears to be very good. That being said, we don't print photos at home. If we want prints we send files to the drug store at the corner and go get them next time we're out. Or send them to another online service. Just don't find it necessary to blow through tons of ink printing photos, although if I wanted to print them here, the printer looks like it handles them fine. Blacks could be a little blacker, but it's not what we bought it for. Using EpsonConnect after setting up an account, we can actually send an email to the printer's email address with a file attached and it'll print the attachment. Not sure how often we'll use that, but it's pretty cool in a nerdy kind of way. Connection-wise this ticks a lot of boxes. And the scanner can "scan to cloud" so you can scan right into your Google Drive or other place that you configure. All in all I'm happy with the purchase. And for the cost of one laser toner cartridge I can fill all 4 ink tanks. By all means, read all the reviews and think about what's important to you. But this is working out well for us.

    Excellent Home Office Addition

In the box is the printer, the power plug, an instruction manual and disc and full size ink bottles. First impression, the printer box was a little heavy when bringing the box inside but once you open the box and unpackage the printer, it is actually very light weight. I appreciate the slim and perfect square design, this will allow me to downsize my printer area. I also love that the printer tray holds so much paper but from the outside it doesn’t look like it does. I also like that the scanner flap doesn’t weight a ton and it folds right into the top of the printer. There is also a pull out tray for the printouts to land that also folds into the printer. After opening the box, you will want to download the app, set up the WiFi and add the ink. If you are not prompted to update the firmware on the printer, the app will scan for the latest firmware. Once you add the WiFi, printing is a breeze since the printer is discoverable when you are on the same network. Adding the ink is super easy. Keep in mind that it is recommended to not squeeze the bottles. Just unwrap the plastic, and let the ink drain in each section. There are settings to run through to calibrate the ink but I found that once I started printing, the printing quality got better and better with each printing session. The app is pretty cool. There are so many options to choose from and I like that there are so many but I also like that I can just add the printer and just print as well. I am pretty sure the rest of the settings will come in handy in the future. The best part of the printer for me is the printing quality. Normally when I buy an inkjet printer, I have problems with the ink smudging printing from home, so I have to laminate my documents that I want to print for work or recreational use because as soon as water hits them, it never fails, they smudge/smear. I am happy to report that this printer is not the case! Finally, I don’t have to break out my laminating machine and my plastic document protectors unless I want to. I dropped a significant amount of water on a print copy and it did not smudge/smear at all! I even let it sit for 30 seconds and went back and rubbed my finger in the ink and it still did not smudge! I am super happy with this because there are so many times that I want to print things and I have to give my disclaimer about getting the documents wet but not anymore! Please beware that there is printing noise while printing larger documents but there is a setting on the printer that you can turn on to help with that. Would I recommend this printer to friends and family? Absolutely yes! I am excited to get started on some home projects and I can’t wait to see the savings on printer ink!

The Epson - EcoTank ET-3830 is an excellent printer for home or office. Setup is super easy and takes about 10-15 minutes. Filling the ink tanks is simple and not messy like I thought it would be. It's impressive you get the ability to scan, print double-sided, on board display AND save money without having to mess with ink cartridges. We previously used a monthly service for ink cartridges, and while it wasn't terrible, it definitely isn't ideal. especially in today's world where everything is subscription based. The print quality is great and I definitely don't see us going back to a cartridge printer ever again. Epson did a great job with this one!

I don't bother talking about setup with a printer because they're all pretty easy these days. This one was just that much easier. The refillable ink is so cool. You can clearly see what you got, the pages come out beautiful, and fill it up and don't worry about it just like Shaq says in the commercial. Truly revolutionary in my opinion, I was over the silly cartridges and waiting on this system to tell me when I needed more ink. I like this way more.

The Epson - EcoTank ET-3830 All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer is a solid product for it's category. Wireless set-up was very smooth using the Epson app. There's also an option for setting it up via a direct cable, though there are no USB cables included. Filling the ink tanks is simple and secure and it was ready for use immediately (though I chose to upgrade the firmware first). Print quality is solid and pictures look great on photo paper, which is a consistent strength of Epson printers. I like having a large-capacity paper tray, an adjustable control panel and easy-to-use copy/scanner area. I'm also a big fan of the ink-tank solution as opposed to cartridges. This is a solid product for this category and you will not be disappointed. That being said, I would recommend taking time to seek out the best current prices.

Normal Printer Concerns but Overall Fine

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This printer works fine for our office. I will say that the tray is not long enough/does not have anything to really hold the paper there as it prints so papers tend to fly off while printing. Also just like most printers, it does not always want to print when it gets sent things wirelessly. It seems to be hit or miss some days.

This EcoTank is a very well thought printer. A lot of ink that you will actually never re-fill again (home and small office use). You will mostly have to upgrade/change the printer before needing to refill it. I'd recommend performing all recommended maintenance steps (first time use and whenever required). It will keep good printing quality. Scanning is ok. I picked the one without feeder. Resolution is fine. Android app works well with no issues or hiccups. I use it for occasional printing. Good WiFi syncing functions. Printing nice pictures with it (even on eco mode). Printing cost is way cheaper than any other regular printing. Very ecological by helping limiting waste (cartridges).

I am low tech but I had little difficulty setting up this printer. My major concern was connecting it to my computer via wifi, but I ended up doing that accidentally while searching for what the icons stand for. My only complaint is that nowhere could I find a list of what the icons stand for and had to ask a friend who also has an Epson printer.

Best printer I have ever owned. My old HP printer stopped printing so we ended up heading to BB and getting a new HP- it was awful. I returned it to Best Buy and decided to try out this Epson instead. I’m so glad I did! What a huge difference between Epson and HP. No more running out of ink, and the print quality is far superior to my HP. So happy with this purchase.

I've only had this printer about 3 weeks but so far I love it. The setup was easy and it was very easy to load the ink into the printer without spilling a drop. I had an older model Epson printer but it used 4 separate ink cartridges and wouldn't print at all if one was out. No problem here with this one. It is also easy to load 14x8.5 paper for spreadsheets, another plus in my opinion.
