    Horrible printer Not Recommended

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This printer was recommended by a sale person at BestBuy. first day it was okay, 2nd time was ehh i figured tech was having a bad day. then 30 days return ran out and this printer took a massive turn for the worse! wouldn't download the software even with a new computer, printer would print pages upside down, make changes and would continue. the printer will continue to cycle likes its going to print but never does. I have to turn off unplug, re-plug in, go to maintenance and re-adjust the print heads every time before printing 1 paper, them i will be lucky to get a few pages before the hole thing goes bad again. I had a different Epson printer before this and it only last 2 years before giving similar problems with lead to it being thrown in the trash. Here I am 6 months later after buying this ET-3850 printer and its about to get thrown in the trash. Also the WIFI tech in this printer is not good. System will show "connected" but no device can get it to print even after going though all the trouble shooting. $400 paper weight this thing is! i REGET buying this unit. I shouldn't have taken the advice from the sale person! First one i bought was crap so is this one! BestBuy and Epson don't care about the issues either.

way to slow and bad picture quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The cost to print is great, but the positive stops there. The picture quality is very poor. I use this printer to make 64 page catalogs for our salesforce. It take almost an hour to print 1 catalog. I also use a HP MFP M479fdw color laser print to print the same catalog. I can print 3 copies of the HP in the time it takes to print one on the Epson ET-3850, The pictures from the Epson are very poor when put next to the HP laser printer. I sure money the saved using the Epson ET-3850 does not justify the extra time to print and the poor quality of the pictures is not

seems to have problems printing thin (20#) paper with 2 sided option. alsom struggles with long documents, over 15 pages. Difficult to program for sorting the pages properly when making multiple copies.

    Mediocre print quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

pro: the "supertank" ink cartridges is why everyone is drawn to this format. con: Very noticable lower quality (ie fuzzy not crisp) compared to my old 5 year old Canon. Surprisingly poor resolution. Not worth the ink cost savings if you value crisp high rez printing. Also more hassle getting this set up.

    HP IS AWFUL

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I will never in my life by another HP product. I have had nothing but problems with the expensive printer I bought from them. We're going to take it into the backyard and smash it this weekend a la Office Space, that's how much I hate it. Customer service is terrible and instant ink is a joke...never once sent me a cartridge that worked.

Very poor performer - without recourse

ridiculously slow printing and scanning, minutes per page. Tried all troubleshooting available, to no avail. tried uninstalling and reinstalling software, no change. literally took more than 10 minutes to print a test page. Spent a half hour on the phone with epson with no resolution. From Reddit this appears to be a ubiquitous issue. I'm about ready to trash it and buy an HP.

Overpriced mediocre printer with Mac OS issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First problem is that software does not seem to be fully integrated for Mac OS 12 Monterey. Fails to print with message of "filter failure' requiring uninstalling and reinstalling software. Scanning function is useless unless it has an "excellent" wifi connection of hard wired via ethernet cable. A "good" connection will result un scanner unable to complete scan. Printing function is just average and phot printing is barely average. Not much better than my old Epson 830. I was able to work around problems by being on the phone with Epson technical for hours. Not the best tech support. Fourth call resulted in finding out about scanners issues.

Poor Scan Software and complicated installation

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I regret the purchase. I had difficulty with the installation, it took hours to soft out. The scan software is really cheap and simplistic, HP has a usable software program good for scanning documents. It does not perform 2 sided scans. I was expecting better print quality, the photos have a water color fuzziness look. I should have stayed with HP...

EPSON ET-3850 doesnt support duplex printing

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Epson has not provided a driver capable of printing double-sided with the newest MAC operating system, 13.1. How long until they do provide such a driver is anybody's guess. There is no way provided on the Epson website to contact the company for actual support. If one's support issue is not addressed already on their website, you are out of luck. I endured years of lousy software and connection issues with my last Epson printer. Seven years after I bought that machine, they finally had worked most of the bugs out of the software. By that time, however the all-in-one was obsolete, Epson didn't provide scanner support for MACOS 13. I had to buy a new machine. I had hoped they had improved support by now. Will I have to wait 7 years for Epson to support duplex printing on a MAC?

    Do not buy

I’m so tired of crappy refillable tank printers. Had to replace this printer once after buying because it didn’t work at first. Then the second one stop working properly shortly after. Print quality was never good and then there was a problem with paper loading and programming. We constantly had to reconnect the unit with the I internet. Then it needed an update that we had trouble executing. So it will not work without the update. It’s cheaper for ink but the hassle is not worth it. It’s just another piece of junk. No more refillable ink printers for this family.
