All the bells and whistles come at the expense of quick use. Everything is a hassle and complication. There is a weird second tray to get to. Going through Epson app is constantly delayed. No bueno.

Return window has closed and im not sure what to do at this point.

Faulty printer

I’m just getting around to opening it and it’s stuck in recovery mode. All I did was plug it up. Now $800 down the drain because they want give a replacement me.Because the print are in color and not clear.

Missing power cable and ink

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After owing two epson XP-950 wide print and wearing them out with the number of prints I do, I moved up to the ET-8550. I've found it to be an excellent printer even though I just had trouble with paper feed stripping a gear when I pulled the jammed paper out. As far as prints I could not ask for better prints except from a professional lab. I travel around the Unites States in an truck and a travel trailer which has a desk in the front where the computer and printer ride and hopefully it will ride from Florida to Alaska making prints all the way. My other Epsons had been through the lower 48 and did well. This printer has an arm to lock the print head in position when traveling so it should travel well. Good thinking on part of the design team.

My older & much cheaper Epson Workforce did a better job. I’m giving it a few more tries before I return it.

13X19 photos amazing, tanks!!, small paper loads?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It's certainly pricy but I love it. OTOH it is handling amazing types of media with aplomb. Printing 13X19 photos makes them look amazing. Now that storage is cheap use bmp files or another lossless format and drop the lossy jpeg. My ancient 6 color epson stylus photo r280 does print one piece of anime artwork better. It has a huge, clean-yellow, background. That printer used Yellow, Light Magenta, Magenta, Light Cyan, Cyan, and black inks, and the yellow was mixed with just a whiff of the light colors to make that background. The et 8550 just cannot reproduce it with the same clarity and vibrancy. Everything else is coming out fine on the et-8550. Black and white photos are far better, with grey, photoblack, and black (light to dark) it's no wonder. This has three low-capacity paper feeds, and is reconfigurable to a straight paper path which handles 2mm posterboard and heavy acrylic sheets. OTOH for making 10 copies of a 5 page document you will have to do a lot of refilling and collection of prints, more than on my old r280 which could handle that unattended. A small price to pay for the ability to produce those amazing 13X19 prints.

Although the wide format capability of this printer is probably more than I need, the sale price was too good to pass up. The quality of the prints I have made so far have been great, even though I am not a professional photographer. Setup was easy with the Epson app... I had the idea that the ink bottles would be a mess to use - Not so! Simple and neat as could be! I also really like the different print trays for various paper finishes and thicknesses and sizes. The large EcoTank ink bottles eliminates the worry of ink cartridges... Will I run out? Which color will I use up first? Should I stock up? I just edit my images and print away... worry free!
