I have been an HP user for decades. I like how they recycle their toner cartridges (you just send them back through UPS), but the cost of them has been hitting our business wallet too much lately. I saw that Epson does not deal with cartridges in this model, so we purchased it for printing booklets and poster-sized marketing materials. This is a really nice unit. The colors are to spec and the detail is impressive. We have received a lot of compliments on our posters (11x14inches). We have had it for a month now and am very happy with the purchase thus far.

The Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 has completely transformed the way I run my online selling business. As someone who relies heavily on printing high-quality product labels, inserts, and promotional materials, this printer is truly the backbone of my operations. If you're running a small business or need high-volume, high-quality printing, I can't recommend the ET-8550 enough. It’s more than just a printer—it's a powerful tool that’s elevated the professionalism and efficiency of my brand.

It's been wonderful so far, with great print quality. Definitely pricey but a good investment. It does print almost imperceptible lines on some types of paper (printable vinyl most notably), but I haven't compared different brands yet. VERY IMPORTANT: You need to print frequently! I didn't use it for a week and the print heads already started to clog. I'm loving it so far, but definitely have to do some troubleshooting.

The quality of prints is amazing - I do fine art photography and on high quality paper - prints are stunning. 13 x 19 printing took me 1000 hours to figure out, total pain. Regular printing is easy to set up. The ink is easy to install and last long. So - lots to love, but there are definitely clunky parts to this printer.

I love this printer. It’s budget friendly while being able to produce pictures that are noticeably better than standard 3 color printers. Dark hair for example will look more realistic. There is still one minor detail that I’ve found annoying and that is the tray underneath to load paper. I put some 4x6 paper in there and the paper curled up, making it get caught. I recommend loading paper when you will use it to prevent that. The back loading works great though and I love the 13x19 photos. I even combined 3 of those in one picture to create a poster size photo that I’m pleased with.

I am very satisfied with this printer. I have only run a few 8X10's on epson ultra premium glossy and they looked fine. Pretty easy to setup and I am extremely happy with the economy. I had been trying to get my Epson R 3000 running and looking at price of set of ink and realized that I could pay most of the cost of the 8558 with the money I would need to spend on one set of in cartridges for the R3000.

The ET-8550 will print large 19x13 photos, diagrams, maps or a 5x7 envelope or a 4x6 picture or print a label directly on a dvd. I am very pleased with this printers performance. I wanted to make prints of my wife’s art work and that works great too. I wish the scanner plate was larger but it scans perfectly up t0 1200 res. Installation was simple. The touch screen control panel is far more useful and easy to use than my previous eco tank printer. If you want large prints without spending thousands of dollars then I recommend that you try this unit. I’m glad I did.

It's a relatively good printer but somewhat complicated to start with. It's not as solidly built as my old Canon photo printer but I love the EcoTank feature.

Excellent printer. My daughter utilizes it quite often to print out her art work. Only issue is trying to make multiple copies of documents at one time. Still looking into it.

I just replaced my aging, much-loved Epson Stylus Photo R2880 with the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550. Switching from Epson UltraChrome K3 pigment-based ink to their ClariaPremium dye-based ink I was really worried about the output, but researched a lot and found that Epson has made massive advancements with dye ink so that it's archival properties are pretty comparable to pigment-based inks. Additionally, the resolution is so fine on the EcoTank Photo printer that with only 6 channels, it's still able to produce lab-quality color output. My first prints were on Ilford Golden Fibre Silk paper, but I didn't have a proper profile, so was somewhat dissapointed with my initial prints, but I switched to Epson paper and have been blown away since! This printer produces some of the finest color matte photo prints I've ever seen — absolutely beautiful results! It's great on glossy & lustre too! A few pointers: 1. Like I said use Epson paper & you can't go wrong! 2. Print from Photoshop with Photoshop performing color management (rather than the printer) with Photoshop. 3. Make sure both the printer settings and Photoshop have the same media type selected. Do this & get amazing output every time!

I wanted to have a high quality printer that I could experiment with creatively. You really can't do that with a cartridge printer because of the high cost for each print produced. An eco tank printer, with it's much lower ink costs, lets you do that. So far the outputted pages of have not disappointed.

This printer checks all of my boxes: large format; not a cartridge printer; 6 color ink; and I already have the ET-8500 and love it. These Epson Eco Tank printers are really easy to set up. The price seems steep, but compared feature-for-feature to other large format printers, there are very few options and I'd rather pay for this one than less (or more) for a multifunction office model.
