Junk Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is a nightmare. Constantly jams, and you need to tear the whole thing apart to remove jammed paper. Very poor software. It's heading to the trash can. and I'll chalk it up to a very bad decision. Please do not buy this crap, which only holds 15 pieces of paper.

Epson Printer quality from bad to worse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this printer about three months ago, and used it mainly for printing 4x6 color photos. I didn't use this printer very often, and by the time it started to malfunction, I had not even replaced ink cartridges. At first, this printer frequently had problem picking up photo papers from the designated tray, and the error message on the printer's panel didn't help at all. When this printer did pick up photo papers occasionally, the printed image was always shifted to one side instead of being in the middle. As a result, all images thus printed out were missing one side. Having used various models of Epson printer over the past two decades, I would say for sure that their quality has gone from bad to worse. It's a real shame that a name brand like Epson keeps ignoring consumers' feedback without making any improvement on quality control.

Zzzzzzzz
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing always spent more time thinking about printing than it did actually printing. Wizzing, clicking, buzzing, head going back and forth, but no printing. After 4 minutes of this one day I brought it back to Best buy for full credit and got an HP printer which I am very happy with. Might have been an individual lemon, but never again!

Disappointed with XP-7100
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Clearly the worst printer I have ever purchased. The cartridge functionality continues to indicate "unrecognized" even though I used authentic Epson cartridges. I believe it has a lot to do with the printer's management device when updating the printer. Also, if one cartridge has a problem, the entire printer is rendered inoperable for printing. For each and every print, multiple ink cartridges could be used, even if printing in monochrome. Immediately upon setup, the initialization process uses up too much ink. Epson was great in handling the problems, but in the end, after a replacement, I still ended up having to consider buying another printer. After having my WP-4530 for several years, this was a great disappointment.

Epson XP-7100 is an inferior product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have just recycled my two year old Epson XP 7100 all-in-one printer and I am happy to get rid of it. It was functional for about a year but then learned that it could disconnect itself from our home wireless network. After loading new drivers and all sorts of "repair programs" from Epson, I gave up. It eats ink even with mostly black and white printing and is incredibly slow. Photographs always had black smudges even after multiple attempts to clean the nozzle, etc. Scanning was also hit and miss because of the poor connectivity. We have another printer from a different company in the house on the same network and it seems more stable, faster and capable of printing a picture. I have tried to get help from Epson but that failed. Even an attempt to reach a person by phone was unsuccessful. After two years my time was more valuable than the poor service I was getting and paid to have it taken away for recycling.

Poor design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Epson design disappointing. Prints great photos but ink usage terrible compared to other Epson printers I've owned over the years. I'm +70 now and been in photography since 12. All ink levels showing the same over time not like previous printers where ink cartridges show different use levels. Also scans poorly.

Need color ink to print black
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Long story short i have to go out and buy a new printer now - likely a monochrome laser. The unit allows a very temporary continuation of black printing when color is empty, but then forces you to replace color to get black printing. This printer has the black, color cartridges, and photo black. Seems like it drains ink without a ton of color printing - and in the end, i have to replace all the cartridges more frequently when i just want to print black. So factor that into your per page cost and it just doesn't make sense to me to have to buy $50 worth of cartridges to print a few hundred pages in black. I see most of the inkjet manufacturers doing this to sell ink - so now i'm left with a $200 brick of trash while i shop for a laser and toss this product.

Posted .Hello crazyzezte, we're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the XP-7100 printer. Epson takes into consideration all feedback to improve the performance and quality of our products. To keep the print head clear and ready to print, the printer uses a small amount of ink from all the cartridges whenever it prints. Some color ink is still being used even if you select Black/Grayscale or Grayscale in the printer software. Even when printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged. The print head needs to be kept charged to prevent air bubbles from entering and damaging the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges is expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge for printing to continue. If you need further assistance, please reach our support team at (562) 276-4382 between 7 am - 4 pm (PT), Monday - Friday; Sincerely, Sam - The Epson Team.

Multiple cartridges do not save you money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've owned this unit for awhile. One of the cartridges is always out of ink, one way or another, and you can't operate the printer when even one cartridge is empty. It allows you to override the lock out for exactly one time, then it stops working, so it sits there unused until you buy more ink, even if your rarely use it to print in color. And now, Epson (curse them) has updated the software so that you can't even decrease the amount of ink when printing double sided pages, a feature it used to have when we first bought it. What a piece of junk. Never again.

Expensive requirements + Overcomplicated features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You never have enough ink, which itself costs an arm and a leg and a few other organs. The wireless option is confusing at best and ineffective at most--you are asked to download a feature for the printer itself, a feature for photos, a feature for making sure the printer works, a feature for reading how to use the printer, a feature for the scanner, etc. You have to use the printer at least once a month, otherwise, the nozzle for the inks becomes non-responsive, and you cannot fix this problem by yourself. And did I mention the ink?

Don't Waste Your Money if Printing DVDs - Smears.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Epson XP-830 at Best Buy, to print documents, and occasionally an ink-jet printable DVD. It worked for a while and then I started getting black ink streaks on the DVDs. I traced the problem to black ink collecting on some of the upper tray rollers, and when I cleaned the rollers the problem went away, but soon returned. I suspect the black ink cartridge drips onto the rollers and there appears to be no way to fix the problem. DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER unless you want to waste your time cleaning tray rollers and trays everytime you want to print a DVD.

Please, save your money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst printer I have ever experienced. I haven't had it one month and it is inoperable. Their solution is to send me another one. Why would I want to lose more hours away from my business to experience this again? I have countless hours trying to get this printer to print decently. Not striving for perfection, simply readability and consistency. What a tinny, inferior piece of garbage. Please, save your time and money. Do not buy this printer. It is slow, shaky and inferior to any HP printer I've ever owned. I have tried every suggested tech support solution, multiple times, with and without them.

Poor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this printer a year ago to replace the previous model. For the most of the year it worked fine. Now I am having more trouble than I did with the last printer. The print tray will no longer return automatically or smoothly by hand. On buying new ink (black) the machine would not recognize the code. After calling Epson and being told not to carry the cartridge back to the store and a 35 - 40 minute call still no progress. I returned the cartridge to Staples and the exchanged the cartridge which worked. I was just told by my machine to replace all the remaining ink which I did. Same problem with the Cyan cartridge. The printer did not recognize the code. Staples is fine but I am through with Epson which used to be a good product.

Non stop problems from the get go
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot believe the ratings received for this piece of crap! I have had nothing but non stop problems with this, from jamming without ANY paper in it, to obscenely rapid printer cartridge drainage (with XL sized cartridges to boot), to network connectivity issues. Of course, this is just past the return point, so I'm stuck with this thing.

Garbage - don't buy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please don't buy this cheap printer. I had a Canon prior to this that worked beautifully for many years and finally gave out. I needed to replace it. The features I absolutely had to have were an automatic document feeder and automatic double-sided printing. After maybe on year these features no longer function. Printer no longer under warranty and about as useful as an old copy machine in a library. Garbage. Also the scanner software is ridiculously cumbersome to use.

Avoid if You want to Use Cheaper Non Epson Ink
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.EPSON PRINTERS. THE FOLLOWING IS NOT DISCLOSED by Epson to purchasers of their printers which results in the Epson printer not working unless you use Epson print cartridges. Epson engages in a “systematic campaign” of disabling Epson printers when the user attempts to use non-Epson ink cartridges? The company does this by designing software updates that purposely disables the printers when the non-Epson ink cartridges are installed. … why does Best Buy sell a product where Epson engages in an undisclosed “systematic campaign “to eliminate my choice, your customer choice of product.….??

Another Ink Scam
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using this a few times it's clear they just made it to get you to buy their expensive ink. First, if you print anything in color your paper is soaked in ink, to the extend I have to separate the pages to allow them to dry. Second, I ran out of ink after printing a couple dozen color pages. Third, few of the less expensive third party cartridges would work to force you to buy expensive brand-name cartridges. Finally, the best part: It REFUSES to print until you replace the empty cartridges, EVEN IF YOU ONLY PRINT IN BLACK AND WHITE!! I will be eBaying mine shortly.

Do not recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I utilized this printer enough within the return timeframe to find out all pros and cons. The printing quality is fine and this is the only good thing that I can tell. First, it did not recognize the black ink, so I had to reach out to the manufacturer and they sent me another one. It goes offline for no reason and my MacBook cannot detect it, so every time when this happens I have to reinstall the app to make it work. Cannot print out power point presentation on two sides - it says that the paper size does not match even though I aligned all the paper settings. Jammed paper is another issue (I use high quality paper for printing). Also, I printed out about 20-30 pages (normal/economy quality and a few pages fine quality), and the ink level already shows that the blank ink is half empty. The tech side of this printer is very poor. I wouldn’t buy it again, just wasted my money.

The Worst with Terrible Epson Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mostly use my printer for double-sided scanning and it has NEVER worked. The automatic document feed does not grab the paper so it jams every singe time. I missed return window by a few days so Best Buy would not let me return. Customer Service with Epson was deplorable. Since it's under warranty, Epson was willing to swap with a refurbished - not a new one. Also, the software is archaic, no comparison to the HP software I previously used. I will never buy an Epson again.
