Before purchasing this product, I utilized radardetector(.)org and RadarTest(.)com in order to base the purchase on real0world testing of this equipment. The radar detector works as anticipated and provides the expected range as seen in real tests. There are much better detectors offered by Escort, such as the Redline and the Passport Max, however they're nearly twice as much money as this detector. For the price point, it works very well and I would recommend it. Having an understanding of the radar detection equipment the police are using in your area is invaluable in fine-tuning the Escort detector. For example, I know X-band radar is not used in Florida, so I turned it off. Doing this eliminated most false alerts. KA band is predominately used, as this is the band used by the Dual Stalker radar system.

I bought this a few weeks ago and am very happy so far. I've had a radar detector in the pass but lost it somewhere along the way and had recently gotten a speeding ticket so I thought it was time to get another one. As far as accuracy goes, it works great. I see a lot of comment on it being overly sensitive but to me that's a good thing. All the same it has built in software (that's turned off by default) to evaluate signals and report ones that are more a high risk. Also like that it picks up the new POP radar guns too, NY and some other state are more or less experimenting with them still but when and if these guns become a regular tool for cops, it's nice to know I won't need to buy a new radar detector.

Ok, I've been doing research on this product for over a month now, watched some YouTube videos, read up on reviews everywhere and not a single soul has mentioned the lousy suction cups that came with this great product!! It's almost a show stopper for me as far as I'm concerned. What's the use of having a great product if you can't keep it on the windshield for long after going over bumps?! I finally resorted to placing my Escort at the base of my dash so that the suction keeps the radar detector from sliding instead of holding it at a higher angle on the windshield! Escort should be paying attention to DETAILS! Anyway, other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about this detector! Love the auto muting feature where it would beep a few times and then fades away so it doesn't incessantly beep to annoy the heck out of you while driving!

We've been using this radar for about 2 years now and my boyfriend and I LOVE it. It has long distance range to let you know way ahead of time that there is cop or a speed cam near by. We plan to get another one for our other car here shortly. I would highly recommend this to everybody. It's simple, easy to use, and works GREAT!

This thing is absolutely amazing. I used to use Cobra brand detectors but noticed they couldnt detect as far out. This thing will detect up to MILES away and even over hills and around corners. I dont know how it does it. On interstates, you'll pick up a laser or radar so far out that when you finally get to it several miles later, you'll just find yourself smiling in amazement. I'm not even a speeder but I love electronics and I just never cease to be amazed by this. I HIGHLY recommend. The cost is high but it's worth it if it saves you a single ticket and trust me, it will.

I absolutely needed a radar detector desperately and I am so glad I got this one. It fits perfectly in my car down in the middle of my windshield. I love it because it's compact and it picks up cop signals ALL the time. It even picks up laser...although sometimes I don't catch it until it's too late. This radar detector has saved me from quite a few tickets. If you're like me and you have a very bad lead foot and you never go the speed limit, then I would certainly recommend a radar detector and this one is great!

Great radar detector , has good range and less false signal !!

I always seem to be in a hurry to get places and usually find myself speeding. This item helps me to be aware of my surroundings and know when I need to slow down a little bit. Near electric doors the radar seems to go off and I have learned that x bands are usually not cops. Very easy to set up, a little pricey, but accurate. The only problem I have experienced is that the radar will go off a little late sometimes. Otherwise, good product.

I'm a professional owner operator this is a great unit! Very little false alarms very long range detection plus this unit has a built-in radar detector. detector yes there is such a thing Truckers aren't allowed to use them and they are not legal in all states so police can detect if you are using one but this escort has a blocker in it is a great unit do not waste your time and money on a Cobra or some other cheap imitation it will just cost you tickets and money.

Great range. Good price. Already got my money's worth. I had it less than a week and was able to avoid getting pulled over. If you have enough to upgrade to the 9500 series, I would recommend that one since it has gps.

I used to think that Radar Detectors were a total waist of money. While your still banking that the police officer is driving down the road with either the radar on or clocking every single vehicle he comes in contact with. I've had mine go off and passed it off as a false alert, and only to have one of my city's finest drive by at the red light. I just traded my diesel truck in for a 400hp car, and let me tell you... The $300 bux i spent on this is CHEAP insurance as it has already paid for itself!

It works okay but It picked up too many false alarm.... If you live in a city, I recommend to buy the 9500ix(with GPS).

Overall good unit. Like the adjustability in the windshield mounting, coiled cord seems a touch short so I had to order a long wire cord to hide the wire (was going to do this anyways) and I like the mute button on the plug, really convenient.

The Escort line has great detectors compared to other brands. I've used a Cobra before picking this model up and it makes the cobra look really useless. The range of the passport is what makes this work wonders. I'm not a speeder, but it comes in handy at times.

I bought this RD back in late July when Best Buy had a sale going on and it has been great! On a quick go-back trip to Phoenix, AZ I got saved 9 times from possible tickets, all speeding at about 95-115 MPH. Also I don't use the suction cups that come in the package to mount it, bought a BlendMount rear view mirror mount and it has been great as I don't have to worry about my RD falling/breaking off.

I got this around 6 months ago and it has already saved me some 4-5 tickets easily. I am a bit of a dasher, especially on the freeways. And I have been warned of police radars by this detector, well before it was too late. Awesome piece of equipment.

Bought this when it cost a lot more,but,it's saved me far more than I paid in a long run. Not sure about your area,but where I live you can't go anywhere withoput running into radar,it's easy money for the state,town,ect. For the cost of a ticket,not to mention the points,I'm glad I bought it. I googled radar detectors before buying&this was among the best reviews,once owning it,you'll know why.

This is one of the best radar detectors on the market in my opinion. The detector gives you ample warning. It sometimes gives so much advanced warning that I start to think its a false alarm and then FINALLY, the police car comes into site. It also alerts you of emergency response vehicles that are equipped with that technology. The only negative I care to mention is the sensitiveness to store alarm systems. the same beeping everyday in the same spot on my way to and from work/class gets old rather quickly. However, it blocks out a lot of the alarm systems that past radar detectors used to pick up.

After wrongfully getting 2 speeding tickets in one day by the noble CHP (California Highway Patrol), I realized that it wasn't time to slow down (since, I wasn't speeding...but I'm not bitter). Instead, it was time to purchase a quality radar detector that would alert me of their adventurous shenanigans. I purchased and began using this radar detector in May 2009 and have been using it since. I'm not a speeder. I, like many of you, go with the speed of traffic and that can get you in trouble. Why pay for the expensive legal costs and hassles of fighting/conceding to a speeding ticket when you can prevent any future tickets by making this nominal investment?
