Initially started with the Cobra 7800, which was not really so great with all the false alarms. This escort paid back itself when it alerted me of cop in a very unusual spot on ma route to work. It happened the next morning of my purchase. So far looks good and happy with the investment, though a lil extra but lets see how it works out.

I have also received a couple of tickets while using it! I feel like when I have the radar on I am always speeding! But overall good product! Just to prepare you it does not come with the live cord! So the radar is not compatible with your phone until you buy the live cord for an extra $100!

It is a minor inconvenience since it really is a good warning system.

- A:Answer You cannot download updates to the Passport X50. You will have to send it to the manufacturer, Escort Inc, for this service. Only Escort radar detectors with a USB port can connect to a home computer and be updated. These are the Passport Max, Passport 9500ix, Passport iQ and Passport 8500ci Plus.

- A:Answer I ordered mine on 11/28/13 and received it today. I can confirm that I received the black model with the red display. I was very relieved because I got no clarification when I called Best Buy customer service and figured I'd just return it if the silver one arrived.
