Q: Questionhow do I upgrade and calibrate from my home computerI have an older 8500 X50 passport radar detector and was wondering how I would go about downloading all upgrades and calbrations from my home computer
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You cannot download updates to the Passport X50. You will have to send it to the manufacturer, Escort Inc, for this service. Only Escort radar detectors with a USB port can connect to a home computer and be updated. These are the Passport Max, Passport 9500ix, Passport iQ and Passport 8500ci Plus.

Q: QuestionRed display versus blue displayIn the escort passport 8500 x50 model, what is the difference in the red display and the blue display? Does this indicate a difference in the device?
Asked by Scooter.
- A:Answer To my knowledge the only difference is the color preference that you choose. Same model, same functionality. Great radar though.

Q: QuestionIs this the new 8500 x50 black? Or the older silver model?
Asked by Tuz.
- A:Answer I ordered mine on 11/28/13 and received it today. I can confirm that I received the black model with the red display. I was very relieved because I got no clarification when I called Best Buy customer service and figured I'd just return it if the silver one arrived.
