A good security camera with some foibles
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Very compact device Great image quality Offers both local and cloud storage (for a fee) Can be pivoted remotely for checking out a large area Cons: Motion detection is very hit or miss Sometimes takes a while to connect (by which time whatever triggered it is long gone) I got this camera because I'm horribly paranoid that my house is going to explode / flood / fall apart / get broken into / etc. . .. while I'm at work. I thought that it would be comforting to be able to view my home remotely periodically throughout the day to make sure that it's still in one piece. From that standpoint, this camera works great. As a security camera, this camera is "meh." I found that the motion trigger was extremely erratic. I would be moving around in front of the camera doing chores, and it wouldn't register my presence at all. Other times, I would quickly pass by on my way to grab something, and it would immediately react to my presence. It wasn't at all consistent. Setting up the camera was a little tricky as I didn't want to store video locally OR on the cloud. Unfortunately, this isn't an option within the app. I ended up opting for the free 30 days of cloud storage, and I'll pick up a cheap micro-SD card to store video locally once that expires (assuming that I can't forgo storage completely). The image quality is really good, and I was particularly impressed by the night vision. Being able to rotate the camera freely means that this can monitor an enormous area. I'm pretty happy with this camera. It brings me a fair amount of peace of mind and helps keep my paranoia in check.

- A screenshot to show the motion detection sensitivity.
- The exact time when the cam missed some events, such as July 22nd 14:43
- Upload your app log via the Side Menu>About>Choose Upload Log> click the blue Upload Log button

Meh at Best

The app to this camera is tedious. I have to manually arm and disarm the camera because Geofencing is bad. For $50 I’ll keep it but won’t buy the brand again.

An Excellent Choice

I have several Anker products, mostly peripherals, and have been pleased with them all. Because of that, I was interested in this new eufy camera. Overall, it is a satisfying choice so far. This indoor camera may be a mini, but it is packed with features that previously you might only find in larger more costly cameras: • Setting up your Mini is quite easy and can be done in minutes after you have downloaded the eufy app. It will guide you through the necessary steps and continue as an important part of ongoing operation. Once that’s done, you are ready to pair your Mini with either Alexa or Google to utilize voice commands. Alexa is my choice, and the pairing was seamless. • The camera’s resolution is excellent. Video recording can be done in 2K HD (default) or Full HD (1080P). Unless you have an older phone or other playback device, go with the 2K. For streaming, in addition to the Auto (default) setting , there are three options from which to select. I’d suggest using the Auto, as it is adaptive to available bandwidth. • With the night vision function, you are not going to see “living color.” However, the clarity of the capture is surprisingly good, even in full dark. • Range of motion, pan (360) and tilt, and motion tracking features enable the camera to cover a large area of activity. The camera can be set to activate due to motion and/or noise detection. Importantly, the cam’s built-in AI can be set to record only when a person is detected. Use this setting to avoid pet alerts. • When you want privacy, no worries. You don’t have to unplug or throw a cover over the camera. Select Home Privacy Mode in the app, and you are free to do what you will. • Last, but not least, purchase of the camera is a one-time expense. No monthly fees! If you inserted a micro-SD during setup, it’s almost like “cutting cable” and saving $$. NOTE: Be sure you look at the depiction of the camera in the included info to find where the SD slot is located. Despite its splendid features, it has a couple of operational quirks. The motion tracking works very well, but it does not pick up motion 100% of the time. Night vision is not 100%. I would say both would be in the 90’s, so no deal breakers. Also, there is a bit of a learning curve to fluidly use the app, as well as what functions Alexa (probably the same with Google) is responsible for. That’s on the user. Overall, the eufy mini is a particularly desirable choice, and I do recommend it.

This camera will NOT connect to Nest Mesh Wifi

If you're using Wifi routers like Nest Mesh Router which uses same network name for both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz, then this device would not connect. Eufy's web site suggests that you try to go out of the 5GHz connection range, which is a ridiculous solution (if the solution works at all). Wasted a lot of time. Returning this device.

Not happy

Both cameras could not hold their postions, when I would save the camera view I wanted. They would slowly move down or if someone would walk by. I have their outdoor camera & like them very much.

Do Not Buy

This Device Requires a Certain Network
