Not Very Smart

Also I'll use the app to try and unlock it and it just spins thinking about if it wants to work or not. Defiantly not worth $250.

I’m not sure if mine is defective, but the lock makes a grinding noise when turning and doesn’t feel/sound very well built. This will be going back to the store.

Posted .If you can calibrate the smart lock successfully when the door opening, please confirm if the door hole on the door frame is interfering or whether the strick plate is blocking the latch out

Great smart lock

I bought this lock directly from the Eufy websight before the wifi version was available. They contacted me and offered to give me another Eufy product, free to review, if I also reviewed this product. The Eufy smart lock arrived quickly and was well packaged. The contents of the box were neatly packed and not only looked nice but were conviently labled with references to corresponding steps in the installation instructions. The instructions were easy to follow and installation went very smoothly. I have installed a lot of locks as a home owner, including smart locks from other companies, and this installation went very smoothly. I was looking for something more formal for my front door and the design of this lock really fit with what I was looking for. I do wish they offered other finishes but black looks good on my dark wood door. I do like the conviance of the kwikset locks as you can have all your locks keyed the same but the features of this lock, specifically the finger print reader, more than make up for the absence. On this lock I like that the keyhole is hidden and the key is different than any key I have seen before. The programming of the lock, after installing the app, was much easier and more straightforward than my other smart locks, which have far fewer features than this one. It took only minutes to program each user and get their figerprint working. I was unable to program my 4-year-old daughter's fingerprint as her finger is too small (so cute!). Eufy clearly stated this possibility in the instruction manual. My 7-year-old son had no issues. The fingerprint reader is responsive and opens after only a short pause. The keypad works well although the keys are not as individually raised as my other smart locks, making accidental key strokes more likely. I do wish the keypad lit up a little brighter and that it had option to automatically light up when someone approached. Overall I really like this lock and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a high-end smart lock. The ability to enter without a key is a blessing where I live as I am often out of the house on the property without my keys. I think the wifi version has some additional features that would also be an asset but that option was not available, to my knowledge, when I purchased this lock. Purchase with confidence.

Easy Install and Fast Operation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This latest version of the Eufy Smart Lock Touch adds Wi-Fi, and by doing so knocks it out of the park. It delivers all the features that were arguably missing in the previous version because it lacked wifi. INSTALLATION The hardest part of the installation process was removing my old lock. It had been on the door for so many years that I had to knock it off with a light hammer tap. Once that was removed, I followed the install manual. The packaging is well done and parts are clearly numbered to identify the step they will be used in. Install tip #1: The lock’s rechargeable battery comes 30% charged. Charge it fully before inserting it, which takes about 6 hours. A fully charged battery is supposed to last 1 year. Install tip #2: Download the Eufy Security app before installing the lock. The app has an overview video of the install process, which can also be found on Eufy’s YouTube channel. APP SETUP Once the lock is installed, the app will guide you through a calibration process. Next, you'll set up your PIN and fingerprint. To add your fingerprint, you simply touch the sensor 8 times in different positions to get a full imprint. From there, you can dive into additional features and give access to others in your household. The install and setup process took 20 to 30 minutes as this was the first time I’ve changed my door lock. The instructions are straightforward as long as you follow them step by step. The only tool needed is a cross-tip screwdriver. I had zero issues aligning all the parts and putting in the screws. Once the lock is installed and setup, there’s a lot to like about it. PROs • BHMA Grade 2 certified. This lock is solid and drill proof. That’s certainly the first thing I’d look for in any lock. • IP65 waterproof rating will let it withstand the elements. • Wifi is built in. Some locks work only on Bluetooth and require an external bridge to attach to your wifi. That’s not necessary here. • Alexa and Google Assistant compatible. • 6 ways to unlock: fingerprint, PIN, app via wifi, app via Bluetooth, Voice assistant, or physical keys. • Fast fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader is as fast as any I’ve ever used. It’s a lot like the readers on iPhones and just as quick. You can, of course, register multiple fingerprints for yourself and others. • Individual PINs for users. You must assign every user a unique 4 to 8 digit PIN. The PINs can be always active, active on a schedule, or active temporarily for the number of days you want. This is perfect for dog sitters, cleaning staff, guests, etc. And, of course, you can turn off a user’s PIN code whenever you want. The system logs door entries by user. • 10,000mAh lithium battery should last a year before needing to be recharged. The app has a battery meter, but if you don’t get a chance to charge it before it’s drained, you can use a power bank with a micro-USB cable to power the lock. And if that’s not available, the kit also includes several backup physical keys. • Magnet proof. If someone tries to use a strong magnet to open the door, the lock automatically locks. • Built-in open door sensor. The lock senses when the door is ajar without needing to install additional parts, unlike some other locks. • Lighted keypad. The keypad is very bright for night use. CONs • No one-time use PIN codes. Though you can schedule PINs to expire, you can’t set a PIN to expire after a single use (or any other frequency). This would be handy let a delivery man, for example, leave a package. • Cannot re-use your existing lock keys. Since the entire lock and deadbolt is replaced, the keys for your old lock will not work. • It’s not obvious how to use a PIN to unlock. You first have to activate the keypad by touching any key and waiting a half second for the pad to light up. Then enter your PIN, followed by pressing the button with the checkmark. If you assign a PIN to a guest, you’ll have to let them know how to use it. Fortunately the fingerprint method requires nothing more than placing your finger on the reader. • No camera or doorbell function. I would really like to have seen this added as a feature. • Brightness level is not adjustable. It’s quite bright at night. It would have been nice to be able to adjust the brightness, just as you can with the alert volumes. OTHER • Scramble passcode. If you use a PIN to unlock, you may be worried about someone nearby seeing your code. Or, more importantly, you may be worried about leaving fingerprints on the keypad hinting at your PIN. This feature allows you to add random digits before and/or after you enter your PIN to obfuscate the actual code. The scrambled code must be 12 digits max including your code inside of it. Of course, if someone gets your entire scramble, it can be used to unlock the door since your code is in it anyway. So the scramble is useful mostly to keep your fingerprints from giving clues. Personally, I use the fingerprint or app since they’re so much quicker. • The backup physical keys have an unusual shape. If you need to make more copies, I doubt that automatic key machines can handle it. You’ll likely have to visit a locksmith. Eufy has done a great job with the upgrade. If you’re looking for a smart lock that’s easy to install and easy to use, this one should be on your shortlist.
