Customers consistently note the excellent camera quality, long battery life, and ease of use of the SoloCam S40. The solar panel is a frequently praised feature, enabling convenient and continuous operation. While some users experienced issues with notifications and concerns about water resistance, the positive feedback on features like night vision, motion detection, and the spotlight significantly outweighs the negative comments. The built-in storage, eliminating subscription fees, is another highly valued aspect.

so far, excellent. Solar recharge feature works great, with south facing mount, it always keeps battery at 100%... You gave to mount it right per instructions. Does not pick up things coming straight at it, has to "see" things as they come across field of view...

[Pro: Video quality is clear.]
Although 1080p uses less space when recording events, I much rather have better quality clips. The 1440p/2K video is very crisp, and this spotlight camera captures details that would be very important if an unfortunate situation were to occur.
[Pro: Motion Detection and notifications are quick.]
The S40 cam has very fast response times when detecting motion and sending alerts. Although I have the camera placed in a low traffic area, I knew quickly when activity was happening in my yard. Furthermore, I didn’t have any false positives which is a major plus.
[Pro: Bright cameras help for great night vision]
Night vision is adequate without the light, but the spotlight creates great recordings. Because the camera is big and sturdy, it has a larger light than most outdoor security cameras.
[Pro: Battery life is great.]
Battery life is good, but even better for those low traffic areas that still might need the presence of security.
[Con: Solar panel placement is awkward.]
The only major drawback for this camera is that the mount might not help it stick out far enough to catch a lot of sun. You might need utilize an external solar panel with a
USB C connection unless you don’t mind unscrewing the camera from the mount to charge it up.
[Con: Storage is not removeable]
8GB is enough space to record clips over multiple months. However, I prefer to be able to expand that video storage and to transfer the card physically to my computer. This is not a major issue, but more of a preference.
Overall, the Solar Powered Eufy Spotlight Camera is not perfect, but very excellent in the things that it can do. It performs in a manner in which it meets all of my security needs.

Great camera it's clear . It really is solar power . Now I tried this inside my hallway where the lights are on most of the day and it does keep the battery full. The speaker is loud to where I had to lower the volume. The flood light is bright . It brings the mount and the USB cable to charge it. The only thing I wish it had was a sdcard slot to upgrade the memory. It a big camera but that's because of the solar panel on top. The recordings stay inside the built in storage . You don't need a monthly subscription. Anker did a good job with this one

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We're really sorry you've encountered this issue!
Would you please try the following to see if it helps: -Please make sure that the network your device is connected to is in good condition. Weak network signal will cause the camera to discharge quickly. -Keep the Optimal Battery Life Mode in Camera Settings > Camera Working Mode. In this mode, the power consumption of the battery will be reduced, but it may also cause some motions will not be able to be detected. -Select "Human Only" instead of "All Motions". Or decrease the sensitivity. Steps: Devices>motion detection>sensitivity level(type) -Set up Activity Zone to filter the false positives. -If you running your App on multi-devices? If yes, could you please close the App when not in use or log out of your account on one device to see how does it work?
If those don't help, please reach out to us via [email protected] or call us at +1 (800) 988 7973. We are more than happy to assist you further.

I must confess that up to a few weeks ago I wasn't aware that Eufy (made by Anker) smart home products were actual contenders in the smart home industry.
I acquired a smart lock made by them and paired it with this outdoor camera so that I could keep an eye on my property.
I am glad that I found out about this company!
The camera came packaged in all recyclable materials, thanks for not using Styrofoam, Eufy!
From the time I opened the package, I could tell that the product is made of high quality materials and should last a long time.
Since I already had created an account and downloaded the Eufy Security app, adding the camera to my network was a breeze.
The camera comes with a heavy duty mounting bracket and all the hardware necessary to install it.
It took less than 15 minutes to have the camera added to the network and the app, then I had to find a suitable location.
Since the camera top is mostly a solar panel that keeps the batteries charged, it is best to find a location that has plenty of light/sunshine available, don't put it under an eve or where there might be obstructions that could reduce the efficacy of the solar panel.
Once I found the right location that maximized the angle of view, I set to configuring my alerts.
With the app you can use the live view option with or without the auxiliary light on and you can even speak to a person in the camera view, albeit there is a bit of lag from when you press the microphone button and start speaking to when the person on the other end hears your voice.
You can also check the battery level and view recorded events in the camera's internal memory.
I love being able to use one app to view/control all my smart home devices, and even though the app GUI is not the most user friendly, it works OK.
If you're on the fence and don't recognize the brand, don't be afraid to give them a try.
I did and would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a good outdoor solar powered security camera.

This camera has a great picture. It doesn't matter whether its daytime, nighttime B&W or color, this is the best security cam picture I have had. This picture is better than some cameras I have tried that claim twice the resolution. I love that the free service version delivers everything I need (vs some competitors). I also like that it begins recording much faster than other systems. My current security cam system doesn't record a delivery person on my front porch until they are walking out of the gate after walking up, placing a package, turning around and leaving. This camera begins recording as soon as the person walks in through the gate and captures the entire event. The software identifies humans and has yet to alert me that an insect or animal is moving around the courtyard (again, unlike competitors I have used). The app picks out and highlights the person it identified and places their image in a circle below the video of the event. This circle is often enough for me to recognize the visitor. Several places I thought I wanted to add a security camera got little Sunlight. The place I set up the camera gets plenty of sun and the battery charge indicator has shown nothing but a full charge so far. The only issue I encountered setting up this camera was that it seemed to want me to start over after connecting to my WiFi router. At first I thought the software had a glitch. I believe that since my WiFi Mesh system is multiband and automatic that the router was connecting the camera to 5G (which is not supported). I have had a similar experience with 2 other devices. Unlike my old system where I assigned a new device to one of the WiFi bands, this router picks a band without my input. Once it assigns the low band it's good to go. this made for a number of attempts to set the camera up but once it got on the correct band it's worked perfectly. I blame this on my mesh WiFi system, not the camera but still a minor issue. All in and all done, I love this camera.

This is the latest addition to my Eufy home security suite. I have the doorbell cam, floodlight cam, 2 exterior cams, and 3 interior cams. This by far is the best of the lot. It's a pretty serious looking and imposing piece of equipment. If you're thinking this is your run of the mill solar device, look again. I did not see a battery size or capacity posted in the specs, but given the heft of it, it appears to be able to handle at least a week or two of sunless weather. Out of the box, it took 4 hours to come to a complete charge. I've had it mounted for a week, with a couple of cloudy days, and the battery is still reading 100%.
There was only one glitch with it, I recently installed a new Wifi mesh network, and it did not want to connect. The setup pamphlet suggested that as this is a 2.4 device, if you're transmitting both 2.4 & 5G on your wifi, you should split the signal with different SSID's for the 2 frequencies. Went to my router & appended a 5 to the 5G signal, and it hooked right up.
I have to give kudos to the Eufy app. I now have 8 devices on the one app, and it works beautifully. After owning these products for over a year, I've no idea why anyone would want to pay a monthly fee for security service.
Referencing the photos I've included, you can see it's a pretty good spotlight. You can configure it for the spotlight to go on upon a detection, or to use only infrared. There are also sliders in the app you can use to control the level of lighting, and the color temperature. You can also set it for human detection only, personally, I like to see what kind of critters are roaming around on the property. The first night I had it up it caught a red fox jumping my fence.
So far, very happy with the performance & features of the spotlight cam, and have already recommended it to my meighbors & family.

This camera does the trick man. It notifies you pretty quick and the quality image is great. Im going to buy 2 more for the house for sure. Worth the money.
My one ding to it is that over time, the elbow piece that holds it still gets loose over time and won't hold it without a bracket for support which i had to do. But the self charging using solar and ease of use definitely makes me want to purchase more for the house, and I will.

Had to mount under an eve. In 3 weeks, it has stayed at about 97% charge from the solar. Quality of the camera feed is very good. Simple Euphy setup and control. I also bought the new Google dual floodlight wired cam and a Google battery cam for the front of the house. The Euphy seems to be as good as these Google cams.

The eufy SoloCam S40 is an impressive piece of hardware. It’s a 2K resolution camera that is both wireless and with an integrated solar panel. It even sports a built-in security spotlight that activates during motion detections. This thing is hassle-free, period. But I think what’s most important is that event storage and notifications are free. No monthly fees to pay, no extra costs for premium features. What you pay for this camera is all you need.
The S40 doesn’t communicate with a hub as it will directly interface with your Wifi at home. This is an important fact because your Wifi strength dictates how far you can operate this camera relative to your Wifi router. Assuming your connectivity is nominal, connectivity to the camera should have no issues. No drops, stutters or miscues surfaced during my testing around the perimeter of my home. Setup is very simple using the EufySecurity app, which will guide you through adding a new camera. It’s awesome to see the different eufy ecosystem of products that you can add along with this awesome camera.
Detection notifications are relatively quick, probably within 5-10 seconds after detection, and detection latency is not bad, meaning the tape doesn't start rolling until a couple of seconds after detection. I found this quite nominal for a wireless camera as it manages battery life. Person detection is very good, with the app presenting the person's face in the event detection list. Detections can be set as short as 10 seconds or as long as 2 minutes. Recycle times can also be set between 5-60 seconds. These tuning knobs will dictate the amount of battery used relative to the amount of activity you anticipate to capture in a full day.
Besides the standard night vision, there is an option for "color night vision", but it just appears to be a sensor that is able to take in the dimmest light and still produce a video feed that is usable and viewable at night. The spot lights aren't actually that bright when activated, but the camera makes it appear so. Even without the spotlights, the image quality is pretty impressive with a little ambient light.
Detection sensitivity can be adjusted and detection zones can be created from within the EufySecurity app. Maybe your camera is looking at an area with trees that can sway to the wind or something similar; best to turn the sensitivity down to reduce battery usage. I did encounter some false detections at a higher detect sensitivity, so I kept playing with the sensitivity until I got it right enough for my use.
Like I mentioned above, the event caching and notifications are a free service. No monthly fees. The camera has a built-in 8gb ram that will keep recording in the event that you lose Wifi connectivity. eufy claims that to be about 2 months of event caching. I'm guessing it's a rolling cache.
The camera can participate in home/away modes in the app. If set to away, the camera can flash and siren if it detects a person. I don't use this feature due to the possibility of false alarms, and they do happen.
As you search for a permanent spot to mount this camera, be mindful of the daylight relative to the mount point. This is a solar camera and you want to give it as much help as you can, even if it says it will only need around 2 hours of sun a day. I have mine mounted in the backyard on an orange tree facing the rear entry door. The afternoon sun sits nicely for a few hours before dusk and the battery has remained virtually full since mounting it there. You never have to get your ladder and recharge the battery every X amount of months.
Another thing to be mindful of is the amount of movement the camera might encounter during a full day. Facing a busy street of cars could cause constant events to trigger, and that might not be enough to keep the battery constantly charged. The camera does put an emphasis on people, but it still will detect movement and offload those events to you during the evening.
One minor setback I saw was the inability for the camera to detect when a person is walking head-on to it. The app even recommends you mount the camera at an angle relative to the area being watched so you don’t encounter head-on movement. An example would be if you mounted this camera right above your front door. If a person walked up to your front door, the camera might have trouble detecting that person. Also, this thing is quite large relative to other wireless cameras, but that is attributed to the built-in solar panel. It is big, but it's a cleaner look than a wireless cam + tethered solar panel solution.
I intend on buying more of the SoloCam S40s in the future.

Eufy Cameras work great!
Battery / Solar Panel powered, automatically recharges. After owning the cameras, my camera has maintained a 100% charge. The lowest battery charge has been 97%-98%.
The camera quality is great. Night vision is great!
My only complaints are the image quality could be better for zooming in. Secondly, the setup is easy to do but connecting the device to WIFI is difficult so it is very time consuming to setup the device because initial setup is sensitive to setup.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with Eufy cameras.
Be sure to follow the recommendations for device setup as this camera cannot be placed in a shady area as it requires sunlight for recharging.

Only had it for a month, but no complaints at all. The battery stays fully charged via the solar panel, the resolution is sharp (both day AND night). I especially like the fact it's self supporting, there are absolutely no wires attached. Installation of the unit was simple. The software load and connection process required a little mobile phone knowledge, but nothing too difficult.

I really like these cameras, they are easy to mount , i mounted them with zip ties up on my gutter downspouts, they have been up for almost 3 months ans battery hovers between 92 and 100%.. exactlynwhatni wanted!
One thing i find annoying, though, is that, to watch the video live in a web browser, your have to do these weird one time approval operations from a phone.. i stoppwd bothering, but that's got nothing to do with the actual cameras..

I am very satisfied with these Eufy SoloCam S40 cameras. Installation was quick and easy thanks to the completely wireless setup and the integrated solar panel, which means no need to worry about charging or running cables.
The 2K video and image quality is outstanding, even at night the picture is clear and detailed. The audio works perfectly: I can clearly hear everything that happens and also communicate through the app without any issues — my voice comes through clearly.
I installed this pair in my backyard and they have given me great peace of mind. I liked them so much that I decided to purchase additional cameras for my apartment entrance, because they truly deliver on what they promise.
I also appreciate the built-in 8GB storage, which makes it unnecessary to pay for subscriptions to record, although they also offer cloud options if preferred. Plus, the solar charging feature is a huge advantage, keeping the battery always powered.
In short, this purchase exceeded my expectations: easy to install, secure, excellent video quality, clear audio, and perfect for outdoor use. I 100% recommend these cameras to anyone looking for reliable and hassle-free security.
