overall this is good device but the display and camera could be better

The color, sound and camera is great. The menu changes do not always work well, can be frustrating. I got on sale, happy with the costs but would not have been if I had paid the regular price. It is wonderful for elderly grandmother that gets to look at her children and grandchildren!

The best part of the portal is connecting when families are gathered!

It is fun to connect with others however focuses on nearest person.

I love the Portal but wish it would work with Alexa so they can talk to each other. My parents have the Show and we can't communicate with the 2 devices. Other family members were going to buy it as well but not until they all can talk with each other.

I don't use this to it's full potential. It sits on my kitchen counter most of the time, scrolling great pictures. The main thing I enjoy is pulling up my recipes that are saved to a google doc, using it in place of a recipe box.

I bought this so my mother could do video chat with her sister and grandkids. The setup was amazingly easy, the camera worked well BUT for the wake word “portal” the system wouldn’t recognize when my mom said “portal” maybe 1 out of 10 it worked. Worked great for anyone else and everyone in the room understood just fine that she was saying “portal” but for some reason it didn’t like how she said it. This system has no way that we could find to change the wake word so we had to return and buy the Amazon Echo Show. The show recognized her voice all the time and it allows limited customization. We were hoping for this to work because everyone had FB messenger. Oh well

No problems with this new item but dunno if it's much more exciting than the echo spot, about the same except the Echo I could use the camera to see what was going on at home from my office at work, the Facebook Portal doesn't let U do that.
