Customers are saying

Customers love the extensive gameplay, abundant content, and enjoyable crafting system in Fantasy Life. Many appreciate the variety offered by the numerous classes and find the game to be fun and engaging. However, some find the story and dialogue to be underwhelming and repetitive aspects detract from the overall experience for some players. The game's difficulty may also be a factor for some.

What could have been a great game is plagued by never ending dialog that just does not seem to end and let you actually play. Unfortunately it makes this game a total deal-breaker.

Pros: Open world Cons: Open world Basically, you can do whatever you want to do inside of game system but sometimes you will get lost. NPCs talks too much in the game, I mostly skip that.

I really liked this game. There is a ton to do and something for everyone. Whether you want to live life as a humble fisherman or slay beasts, you can do it. And surprisingly enough, it is actually challenging at some points and you're encouraged to connect with a friend and do some multiplayer which only adds to the experience. This game isn't too deep as far as the crafting mechanic goes, but it somehow hooks you anyway. The dialogue in the game is typically funny although there is way too much for my liking. I tend to like to read all the text but I found myself skipping most of it later in the game because NPC's tend to babble on endlessly. Luckily this hasn't effected my enjoyment of the game. In fact it's pretty much my only quarrel with it... well aside from the fact that there isn't a farmer life. That was a bit disappointing for me, too. Other than that it's a great game. If you're a fan of games like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory then I think it's safe to say you'd enjoy this.

So I purchased this game a few months ago or so and it's fun to play except the game play is very slow. Due to this fact it didn't hold my attention for very long so I have moved on to other games. It is a good time waster though.

    I love this game!

I always hesitate to say "I love this game!" or "this is my favorite!" simply because with so many games coming out each year, my opinion is bound to change. However, with Fantasy Life, I feel like I can honestly say I love it without going back on this word a few years down the line. Fantasy Life is ridiculously fun, funny, and free. It definitely lives up to the title! To get this out of the way, in my playthrough, I let the story play second fiddle to my adventuring. When I mentioned Fantasy Life is free, I meant it. You can do whatever you want with the class you pick, whether that be collecting items, creating items, grinding your level up on monsters or in your occupation, completing quests, or just changing Lives and seeing how they all turn out! See, the story is only invoked if you provoke it by completing Butterfly's quests--so if you don't want the plot to go on just yet, simply ignore those quests and do what you like. Or, alternatively, finish the plot and then do whatever you like! Fantasy Life has so much freedom it's actually spoiling in my opinion. The only times when your freedom is restricted is if you level up your occupation too much and need to access a new area which--surprise--needs story progression to unlock. This can be a bit of a bummer and jarring when you're so into doing your own thing, but completing a new story chapter to unlock a certain area is relatively fast and painless, and you'll find yourself having access to new areas, materials, and quests. Would I recommend Fantasy Life? 100000x YES! It's a MUST HAVE for 3DS-owners in my opinion! A little advice, though: don't get discouraged if some quests are simply impossible to complete. For example, starting off as a Cook will be difficult, as you need to gather ingredients which may be difficult to acquire if you don't have other skills to back them up. For example, I found the Cook Life to be incredibly easy as I had already advanced the story a bit by then, but I also had a Master Rank as an Angler and could provide my own fish--no purchase or struggle necessary! So what's that "advice" I mentioned? Try a lot of Lives! Try all the Lives! Not only do they support each other in some cases, but they're all really fun to try!

Like Skyrim for babies! (In the best way possible)

This is a really fun, lite version of something like Skyrim, (or an MMORPG minus the MM part). My little sister and I play this game together via the internet multiplayer. She lives a thousand miles away and it's great to be able to play something together. She's less of a gamer than I am, but she's still played through the entire story mode and maxed out her character in the class that she likes the best (paladin, because she likes having high defense so she doesn't have to worry about being good at combat). And I too am really enjoying the game, even though I normally wouldn't go for something so simplistic on the surface. There really is a ton of stuff to do in the game, and options for pretty much everyone no matter what you're into. If you don't like combat, you can get through the game with barely any combat. Be a woodcutter or tailor instead. Me, I like to level all of the classes so I can mine my own ore as a miner, turn it into a weapon as a blacksmith, and use that weapon as one of the 3 fighting classes. Very fun, highly recommended, especially if you can get a friend to play with you.

Fun game, But with some flaws.

I've enjoyed playing Fantasy Life. I think it's great on a portable console. Collecting crafting materials and such is nice to do in small bursts. However, the game suffers from some glaring flaws. Pros: -Gameplay suited to portable play. - Multiple class system is an interesting twist on an otherwise generic RPG. - Its simple while still having complex systems. Cons: -It can get too complicated with everything going on. Stars/Bliss/EXP are all different leveling currencies. They all level different things. -Repetitive, all of the maker classes play a similar mini game involving pressing A. Collecting also gets repetitive. -Its very wordy. The writing is decent but there's just too much of it. Everyone needs to shut up. Over all, its fun. I like it. It could just be better in some very obvious ways.

Was considering on getting Fantasy Life for a while and finally decided to pick it up because I believed in Level 5 in their games and how great their Dragon Quest series will bring to this game. If you know your Level 5, you can easily tell this is made by them. The NPC looks like from DQ and the gameplay is like DQ. Spoiler Alert, there is a story, well it was a surprised to me since I thought this game was like Monster hunter a little where you collect things, do quests and kill monsters with a little story included. Also, this game might be a turn off for anyone who wants a linear jrpg game because this game teaches you things for a few hours and then you're on your own. I got lost on what to do but as a fan of jrpgs and rpgs, I got the hang of it. Regardless, this game is a great game, and if you're bored with your 3DS and want a game where you can relax and play. Fantasy Life is for you!

A must-have for fans of action RPGs. The graphics are beautiful, the humor is delightful, and there is a huge amount of stuff to do (and DLC that adds even more to the endgame). The only major complaint is that there is a lot of dialog. It's easy enough to skip, but if you're at all interested in the story, be prepared to read quite a bit. It's definitely worth it, though!

The game is very cute, it's like a tiny RPG MMO with different jobs you unlock and level up, as well as different crafting jobs you also unlock and level up. There are a lot of items to craft and find throughout the world. The story is lovely and light hearted, so don't buy this expecting it to be Bravely Default serious or what not. All in all, i recommend this game to anyone who wants a cute little FF3 RPG MMOish game! There is coop available, but i have not dabbled much in it.

    Fun Little Game

This was an interesting game. I liked that I could switch between the different character classes since all too often in games I find myself wishing I would have chosen a different class. My only complaint is that I feel like with the overall mission that the key moments were more of just scrolling through dialogue rather than being able to determine the outcome based on my skills.

This is my favorite game. It is an exploratory RPG, where you make your own rules and have fun! I love it! Everyone needs to play this game. These types are rare for Nintendo (no turn based!) so grab them while you can! The graphics are adorable as well.

This is a very fun game. There are lots of different paths you can choose for your character, each with it's own unique skills and gear. And if you get bored of one of the paths, you can easily change to a new life/profession.

    Excellent RPG!

This is a very well done Action RPG from LEVEL 5, the creators of the wonderful "Hayao Miyazaki inspired" PS3 Game "Ni No Kuni". It boasts a wonderful cute art style with a nice variety of map locations and simple controls. Difficulty setting is average so this game will appeal to casual and hardcore gamers as well (some of the later boss fights are challenging and require a good strategy to defeat). The dialog script is well done with nice bits of humor infused into the interactions with the various in game NPC's. The ability to choose your "life" (i.e. character class), adds a wonderful replayability to the game and is reminiscent of games like "Final Fantasy Tactics". A very enjoyable RPG and highly recommended for JRPG fans!
