Perfect
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is exactly what anyone who purchases it hopes it will be: a fantastic nostalgia trip with some great wrinkles for fans of the original, and an up to date primer on what makes this game/series so special for those new to FF.

More mako please
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been waiting for this ever since the FF7 dropped in 1997. My biggest complaint is that we have another year or so until part 2 drops. The music, visuals, gameplay and voice acting is some of the best I've ever seen.

Epic
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original Final Fantasy VII was a masterpiece that pushed video gaming beyond what many expected, combining a deep and intricate narrative with a cinematic quality, a beautiful yet perilous world corrupted with evil, and some of the most epic boss battles in gaming history. And despite the remake only expanding upon the first few hours of the game, it perfectly adapts the atmosphere and scale of the original and elevates it to new levels. This is perhaps the new standard for what a remake should do - keep many of the best elements of the original and expand on them heavily, while also adapting its best moments into a modern experience. I won't spoil anything for you, but if you're curious, play the remake as soon as you get the chance, because this is the most epic video game in history.

Above and Beyond
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably my new favorite game of all time. The story, the cinematics, the character development, is absolutely incredible. Probably the best graphics I've seen on PlayStation 4. This is an instant classic and must buy!!!

Great Remake
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of the original FF VII, I think you will enjoy this one. Story is more in depth. However if you do not like to do side quests this may get a little tedious. Over all I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this.

Fantastic modern Final Fantasy
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a longtime Final Fantasy Veteran, having played all of them over the last 30 years, and this is a great modern final fantasy game. It’s very similar in feel to Final Fantasy 15 in terms of combat and dungeon crawling. The only issue is that since the entire game takes place in Midgar every area feels a little claustrophobic. I know that is by design but the game does suffer from from not having a more open feel. Definitely recommend!

||Posted . The game is not just updated graphics. It adds new detailed story lines to the Midgar arc that will satisfy anyone who cares about the lore.

Over-the-Top Action RPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gameplay and action are fantastic, but the enemies can be a bit repetitive, other than the boss battles. Graphics are nice and crisp, with great character models, but some of the areas can feel a bit barren and unfinished. Some of the side missions can feel pretty vanilla, but definitely a lengthy game, with plenty to do and quite enjoyable, for the battle system alone.

More Than a Remake
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is beautiful. I think it follows the original. It has been a long time since I did touch the ps1 version. This series was one of the earliest gaming experiences that I remember. Must buy if you are a fan

Great Remake
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not usually a fan of remakes but this one is great. I was a huge fan of the original. PUpdated graphics but kept the integrity of the original story. It was refreshing to see these great characters again.

Mostly a good game, if you don't mind huge changes
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The combat in this game is probably the best thing about it, it feels great and they really merged ATB with action combat in a thoughtful way, some fights WILL feel frustrating until you reexamine what you're doing and analyze the enemy. The world is fairly linear just like the original Midgar segment was, but with greatly expanded and added segments, for better and for worse. Mostly for the better, but some areas start to feel like a drag, such as in Sector 5. The cutscenes are top notch in production, with side characters and even one-off NPCs getting some fully fleshed out backstory. However, there are changes, and the addition of the 'watchers of fate' storyline which does DRASTICALLY alter some events of the story, making this game in a sense less of a 1:1 remake and more of a retelling. With drastic implications for future installments. There IS filler content in this game and a lot of it is hit or miss. NPCs have basic RPG quests that you can take on, and some of them really do just drag on. Without that I might even rate the game 5/5 even with the story changes. Another smallish issue is texture loading in some areas - there are some places like a certain hotel door that has N64-tier textures that never seem to fully load in. As well as a couple laughable skyboxes. Hopefully these can be fixed in a future patch. All in all, if you're willing to come at this game with an open mind, expecting some changes, and put up with a bit of sidequest BS, this is a really good game overall. The bosses are AMAZING in this game.

Awesome
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They did a wonderful job with this remake. The graphics are top notch. I didn’t think I’d enjoy the new battle system at first. But I’m glad I was wrong. Ending was not what I expected but hey, it’s a remake!

Realistic Remake
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s 1997 all over again. This remake removes all of the limitations of the original while keeping everything that made the original so great, nostalgia included.

expanded story of FF7
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game does an amazing job at really expanding the story and fleshing out characters. There can be some sections that feel a little dragged out, but the visuals and combat really where this game shines.
