I'll admit that a huge portion of my enjoyment from the game is the nostalgia of scenes and characters that I d spent so much time with 20 years ago. It really is a great game, and visually it's a stunner. The only drawback is having to wait for the next couple chapters to come out, but that's good news for the rest of the things and people in my life. Otherwise they may not see me until 2021.

The characters, story, music and environment are really well done. The battle system has depth & was much better than I thought when playing the demo. You can still plan & execute strategically like turn base which was pleasing as a fan of the original. The command menu can be used to break combat into action/plan/execute phases.. or you can mash if you're into that. Great game, glad I have it on disk.

Not only is the game exactly what me as a fan would have expected from Square - the game surpassed my expectations and goes into further depth I never could have imagined - totally surprising me. It’s a must-have game for anyone who loved the original - and it totally lets new gamers into a special RPG world where they can experience what made the original so special from a rich and intricate perspective.

The remake of (the first part of) Final Fantasy 7 is a great game. Character models are beautiful for the main cast though meh on the generic NPCs. The game does not feel stretched out and completely justifies being just the Midgar section of the game. It is about 30-45 hours depending on your pace and well worth the price. Great RPG/action game mix of combat. Would definitely recommend buying this.

Game is ok, at best. After the awe of the graphics, which do look great, the first thing noticeable is how awful the voice acting is. It's garbage. Even John DiMaggio, voice of Bender in Futurama, Marcus Fenix in the Gears games, and countless of other better performances, is mediocre. Then comes the combat, which is fun for the first hour because you're playing FF7 in a new way, but after that it's tiresome. It's a mix between real-time action and the old Active Time Battle (ATB) system. To use any kind of spells, items, and most advanced attacks you have to use a bar of the ATB gauge, some commands take two bars. The problem with it is to build ATB gauges rapidly enough to use anything other thing basic attacks you have to attack. Easy enough for the character you're controllling at the time, but the computer controlled characters block and block and block and block some more barely filling up their ATB gauges, leaving you to constantly switch between characters making it a completely disorienting mess. You can switch to a "Classic" setting, but from reading the decription it sounds just like what the computer controlled characters do on normal. To be fair, I haven't tried this setting and doubt I will. The combat is easily my biggest complaint. I hate it. FF7 Remake is not the whole story of FF7, which would be perfectly fine because they expanded the game. There's more stuff to do telling more of the Midgar story in this first game. Problem here is that it's filler garbage. It's boring and the only thing I can see out of adding so much is so Square Enix can expand FF7 Remake over 3 or 4 games to make as much money as they can out of the FF7 universe. Maybe I'm just wanting to get more to the point of the core FF7 story, the story that gripped me so many years ago. Regardless, it's hard for me to get through the fluff. I'm struggling to get through this game. Struggling. I look at my PS4 controller and question if I want to pick it up and play this game. That didn't happen 23 years ago with the original FF7. I couldn't put the controller down.

Story is amazing and long enough to keep you entertained. Graphics are beautiful.

This the game is equally faithful and re-inventful of the source material. I was a big fan of the original as a kid, and it doesn't disappoint on the nostalgia factor. The battle system is a mixture of turn-based and live-action, as you can pause it, and the gameplay is significantly delayed so you have time to make critical strategic decisions and switch characters. Awesome game.

It’s amazing going down memory lane with these classic characters. Gameplay is totally different from the original, and goes more in depth and focuses on just Midgar if I’m not mistaken. This is only part one of a collection of future installments in the remake. Still a great game if you’ve never played the original, but if that’s the case I highly recommend you revisit the classic version.

The combat system is better than the original but the graphics are realistic so I'm enjoying the game from old and new players. It is different though from what i remember but I'm glad that I'm experiencing it.

This Action RPG remake of the original 1990’s classic is just about perfect. It follows the original story flawlessly and interjects new life into it by expanding it, making it far easier to connect with the Characters. This game pushes the ps4’s power to its limit with its unbelieveable graphics, an amazing top notch sound track, and incredibly fun and addictive game play. 9.5/10

The most exciting, and sometimes scary, thing about a remake is the new music. Nobuo Uematsu's score to the original is iconic. Remake's soundtrack is headed up by Masashi Hamauzu and Mitsuto Suzuki; there's no need to be worried about the quality here, as it's wonderful, full of arrangements of the original's soundtrack and new compositions inspired by music from the Compilation

The Remake of all remakes with its changes for turn base JRPG to and action base game play the visual and controls of this game was great idea and I can't get enough of it some old school fans will hate it but I myself being one of the old school fans really enjoyed what they did and I can't wait to see what that do with part 2 of this remake

this is a full remake from the ground up. its only the first section of the original. it ends when you reach Gia. in the orifinal it took about 4 hours to get to that point. this game thakes at least 40+ hours. the gameplay is amazing and the graphics couldnt be better even on next gen. this is a perfect starting point for someone to fall in love with an epic franchise.

Good graphics but it's a little drab because of the setting for this portion of the story. Fun but easy, and the gameplay is relatively simple. Still, really looking forward to the next part.
