It has been nearly a decade since talk of updating Final Fantasy VII first began to crop up from the boys at SquareSoft (now Square Enix) and alas the final product has landed in our laps, but rather than just update the graphics of the pre-existing game this is a remake of the game..changing many of the play dynamics and offering up a much more substantial view of the world of Midgar. Old school fans of the game will be pleased that the story and many of the levels were left intact (and the glorious music of Uematsu) just flushed out and enhanced by modern mechanics. There is much that remains to be seen about the full nature of the remake but this is a bold and beautiful rendition of a widely beloved game.

Good game graphics are good and story is fine just needed a little more to it

It is great. I bought it for my step-son and he seemed very happy to get it. The price was right and it seems to be an upgraded version of a previous game with newer and better graphics

Love the remake I played the original with one of my first room mates at our apartment and it brings back such fond memories and is one of the most thoughtful gifts my family has given me.

I never played the original FFVII so going into this I wasn't sure what to think. I can proudly say that I absolutely loved it. The characters are incredible and the combat is very fun.

Square have finally done it. They have come up with the perfect blend of modern action based game play with classic turn based mechanics. Anyone that played the original needs to play this game.

Even though it is not a full remake it is still a pretty great game on its own. The graphics are great, combat has a nice amount of difficultly, and midgar feels fleshed out compared to the original.

Graphics are amazing. Super job remaking a classic. I had over 50 hours in on the original until a memory card glitch lost all my data, lol. You can play for hours with ease, just as I remembered it.

After playing this when I was younger on the ps1 I couldn't wait to experience it again. Even though this is only the first part there is more than enough content for old and new fans alike

Growing up, my absolute favorite game was FF7. The fact that they made a remake just gets me so excited. I was very impressed with this game. Not to mention, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

If you have never played the 1997 PS1 original. Then, you don’t have to worry. Since this first part of this Final Fantasy VII Remake project. Tells a similar story to the original game, but covers aspects of the story. That the writers and the developers weren’t able to tell because of the technical restrictions of that time. But now even for veteran fans like myself. You get to see not only parts of this Midgar (that’s the city you are in for the newcomers) section that you remember. But even new story segments that really add to the established plot and lore of the FFVII saga. So if you love RPGs or are looking to see what the hype is about. I’d definitely recommend this title!

I played the original and loved it. I love now having real-life looking characters to go along with the great story. The “new” combat style is fun and makes every encounter fun and not redundant.

The game is great, a masterpiece like I remember playing it in the late 90s. Only now, the graphics and sound and gameplay are modernized in a way that enhances the story and characters. Perfect.

It brings the original game to life! The combat is an absolute thrill and pure fun; the graphics can go from being the best I've ever seen in any video game to the worst looking textures I've seen in any ps4 game, so its prettying strange in that department. This game only takes place in midgar, so just its part 1 of the original not a full remake, but it still took me 45 hours to beat.

My 16 year old son is a gamer and he loves this game. Has been playing it pretty much nonstop since the day it came out. Just watching him play I can say the graphics are fantastic. Thumbs up!

Beautifully redone. Was a loyal ps player back in the day and this game was great on the original console. Hours of time spent on it. New platform and presentation is amazing.

I love this game, it has such beautiful graphics, it looks like you are watching a movie. The gameplay is seamless and the dialogue is entertaining and the music is super catchy as well.
