DONT DO IT
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One if you the people you want your kids to have access to dont have a gmail or smart phone dont get it. You can only set up using google and you can only call through app. Just got my sons watch and its already not accepting calls or text nor can he send emergency text. His location takes at least 5-10 mins to update. Just save yourself the time and money.

Breaks easily
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not durable. We have had 3 crack/break in one calendar year. Most recent one last less than a month. Great watch for kids in terms of user interface, but if it can’t survive a month worth of kid activities it is not a good product.

Poorly designed kids watch.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty terrible watch for kids. The main issue is school mode only disables the games so your kid can still call, text, set alarms and everything in school. I would recommend buying other watches for you kids.

Great idea, buggy execution.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The watches constantly glitched out, kids greeted with messages to factory reset and lose all their progress. It was a great idea, I think they should release the app for apple watch and let the world enjoy it.

Posted .Hey there, MichaelS. we’re sorry to hear the Fitbit Ace LTE wasn’t quite what you expected. Rest assured, only a parent’s Google account is needed — your child doesn’t need one. During setup, the app will guide you to create a child’s profile or select one from your Google Family group. Great watch that encourages more activity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son has been asking us for a smartwatch because he lost his previous watch. He is 12 years old and we are trying to get him to be more active, but we also wanted something to help keep him safe. We came across the Fitbit Ace LTE and decided to give it a try. The watch came with a wristband, the actual watch itself, and a protective cover. The wristband is great because it is a soft velcro band that is soft around his wrist and easy to put on. The initial setup of the watch was incredibly fast. You choose the service plant that you want (monthly or yearly subscription), link it to your account, and it's ready to be used. The service plans are affordable, and at the moment, they have discounted deals for service. After the parent setup the watch with a paid account, hand it over to your child so he can create/choose his/her character and personalize the watch face to their liking. You will also have the option to setup Tap to Pay for them in the future (not yet available). The calls are great. They are clear and easy to hear. I was worried that there would be too much background noise, being that he is speaking through his watch, but I am able to hear him clearly, and I come through clear for him as well. He also has the ability to text from his watch, which can be a little difficult since the watchface isn't very big. But he manages to text us fine. The watch apps encourage him to be more active through games and move goals. Best of all, the watch is water resistant so he doesn't have to worry about removing the watch when he is washing his hands. As for safety purposes, I am able to track him wherever he goes. It alse serves to help find the watch, which we were not able to do with his previous more affordable watch. Another big plus is that we are able to keep track of his fitness activity. Everything is controlled via the Fitbit Ace app. Overall, we are very happy with the Fitbit Ace. My son is enjoying it, and I am happy that we are able to keep him safe with it by monitoring his location. I would highly recommend the Fitbit Ace to parents.

Great watch for keeping track of your child!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch is a great tool to not only help motivate your child to be active, but also to keep track of your child when they are on the go! First of all, the watch looks cool. My child can be picky, so anything that doesn't look the part won't get worn. For him to wear it, in my opinion, shows that the watch has great aesthetics! The ability to call and text from the watch works great! My child finds it fun to send me emojis and, honestly, it is easier for him to send me a voice text message then it is for him to try to type out a message on the watch. The call quality is clear and distortion free on both ends of the call. The watch attempts to make being active fun. From different games on the watch, to different screen animations that show how active my child has been, it is a very versatile watch that really tries to get on the child's level to attract them to be more active. My son enjoyed playing the games in order to earn points to decorate his "room" on his watch. My only annoyances with this watch are that, in order to add a contact to the watch for your child to be able to talk/text with, that contact must 1) have a gmail account and 2) must download the Fitbit Ace App, and in order to unlock more features or new games, you must purchase new watch bands. The app is the only way to communicate with the watch. Essentially, the watch does not have a phone number that can be given out to family and friends. All interaction is done through the phone app. I understand this is part of the process of keeping your child safe and knowing who they are contacting, but it is an inconvenient process when dealing with each individual person and trying to get them to download the app and sign up for a gmail account. In order to unlock new games or features, you must purchase additional watch bands for the watch. They aren't completely necessary, but it is something to consider. For these reasons, I gave the watch 4 stars instead of 5. This watch has a LTE data plan that needs to be purchased either monthly or yearly. When you consider the features of this watch and the price of the LTE plan, I feel the price is very reasonable! There is also an incoming feature to allow your child to use the watch to pay for items using NFC/Google Pay, however, that feature was not available at the time I received the watch and wrote this review. Other than the listed caveats above, this watch is a great item to keep contact with your child and to motivate your child to be active!

Kid loves it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I honestly didn't think this was a good thing for my kid at first. I just thought it would be one more thing that he'd leave laying around once he was bored with it...but it this has not been the case. He love his fit bit. The good - It's pretty easy to set up. My kid and I set it up in about 10 minutes. We did have a few issues where we kept getting switch back to what I assumed was German but we got it figured out. After syncing to my phone, everything else was pretty easy. He constantly tracks his steps and activity and watches the "noodle" or snake as he calls it. He seems to be pretty happy with the games as well. The texting and calling features work pretty well. I can hear him clearly and he can hear me as well. He's pretty good at texting on it as well. The app it straight forward and simple to use as well. The charger has a usb-c type plug so we had to get him a charging block for that but not a big deal. It hasn't replaced his phone but he definitely seems to pay more attention having the fitbit on and charged than he does his phone. The negative - my main issue with it is that you have to have a gmail/Google account to able to added as a contact. I get it but it's a little limiting. Had to create a gmail account for his mother and his grandmother. Not a huge deal but still limiting.

Great Fitness Watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a parent, I am always looking for ways to ensure my child's safety and encourage a healthy lifestyle. The Google - Fitbit Ace LTE - Kids Smartwatch has been an excellent choice, and here's why: Pros: Call and Text Functionality: The ability to make and receive calls and texts directly from the watch is incredibly convenient. It allows me to stay in touch with my son without him needing a phone, providing peace of mind. GPS Tracking: The GPS feature is outstanding. It provides real-time location tracking, which is a fantastic safety feature. I always know where my son is, which is very reassuring. Engaging Activities: The watch is packed with activities that encourage my son to stay active. From step challenges to fun games, it makes fitness enjoyable and keeps him motivated. Kid-Friendly Design: The watch is designed specifically for kids. It's durable, comfortable, and easy for my son to use, which he appreciates. Parental Controls: The parental control features are excellent, allowing me to set limits and monitor my son's activity and usage effectively. Cons: Battery Life: The only downside is the battery life. We find ourselves needing to charge it every day or two, which is a bit of a hassle. However, it's a small price to pay for the benefits the watch provides. Overall, my son loves this watch and it has been super helpful in getting him more active. The combination of engaging activities and robust safety features, like GPS and call functions, makes this smartwatch a fantastic choice for kids. Despite the battery life being less than perfect, the benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience. If you're looking for a kids' smartwatch that promotes activity and provides peace of mind, the Google - Fitbit Ace LTE is an excellent option.

The best watch for a kid!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a fun watch! The Google Fitbit Ace is an exciting watch for kids that incorporates parental control, and a fun way to get kids moving and exersizing. Setting up the watch is pretty easy, and fun for my kid. The parent needs to download the Fitbit Ace app. The watch did need to be charged out of the box. After turning the Fitbit on, the app will connect with the watch. Your child will need a google email in order to sign up and use the app. During sign up, your child will get to create their own special character to help guide them along. Using the watch is simple. The child puts it on using the velcro wrist strap and uses one of the two buttons on the side to turn on and off or navigate. It will tell the time when you rotate your wrist just like a regular smart watch and show you tracking of your current goals. You can send messages to the watch, or hold a phone call on the watch. The watch can also be tracked, so you can keep an eye on where they are. The watch mainly uses wifi and bluetooth to connect to your phone and I believe uses open wifi to connect and send messages and get location updates. The watch incorporates little games to keep the kids active, like walking a certain number of steps, or staying active for certain periods of time. It is really a great watch. My daughter loves using it and playing the little games and is always walking around or exersizing trying to reach new goals. You can also see everything on the app so its fun to keep track with them. The watch is part of a subscription service so in order to use it, you have to be subscribed. The monthly fees are not bad in order to help your kids stay active and also communicate and keep an eye on them when they are not around. I definitely recommend this watch for families and think it's a great way to interact with your children.

Excellent concept. Not quite ready for ready yet.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a lot to like about the Google Fitbit Ace LTE Kids smartwatch, which features calling, texting, and gps. My 9 year old daughter has the Spicy variant and it is a very cool looking device. She wants very badly to love it, but she's not quite there and I find my own opinion to be the same as well. First, the good. 1. Build quality is very good. It has certainly stood up to her daily use which includes a lot of dance classes and some gymnastics. 2. The bands are very easy to attach and detach from the watch and are easy for children to manipulate on and off of their wrists on their own. We especially like how, when you purchase a new band and attach it, the watch automatically detects it and shows you the digital items you get along with it. Very cool! 3. The charger is also very easy for a child to work with. They should be able to snap it on and make sure the watch is getting charged with no problem. 4. The GPS works VERY well. Updates do not appear to be on a delay and locations are extremely accurate. 5. The OS is fairly intuitive for kids and my daughter picked up how to use it pretty easily. She especially liked the noodle that slowly fills the perimeter of the display over the course of the day as movement is logged. Now, the meh. 1. The battery life is kind've all over the place. Sometimes we've seen the advertised hours. Sometimes she'd end up with 10% left by midday. These were all moderate use days where all activity was roughly the same. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to why we'd see such fluctuations. 2. Calls and texts have been pretty hit or miss. I live in an area that gets great service signals from all carriers. Sometimes texts were sent and received from the watch instantly, sometimes they took a while. Sometimes calls went through and sometimes they didn't. Sometimes even when they DID go through, the quality wasn't good enough to actually converse. I will say this though, when a call does work, the quality is excellent. The mic on the watch is very good as is the speaker. I'm quite impressed with it. Lastly, the bad. 1. I don't know if it's a hardware issue, a software issue, or an optimization issue, but the OS can be VERY sluggish at times which in turn can be really frustrating for a young child. My daughter is way more patient than most children her age and even she was getting annoyed with how long a game would take to load up. Many times something would be loading, but you wouldn't know it because between starting the app and it being fully loaded you saw no sort of progress meter. Just a blank display. It made it very difficult to interact with at times. 2. A couple of times the OS did freeze up on us and a hard reset was necessary to get things working again. We gave it a solid 5 minutes to respond before doing so, so I don't think it was a matter of us waiting long enough. 3. The accelerometer isn't that great. For some games she really had to over-exaggerate the motions required to get things to register. This was another point of frustration at times. She was just trying to be a kid and have fun with it but the trial and error of finding out how exactly she needed to move was a bit off-putting and degraded the experience a bit. While we do like the watch and love the concept, it isn't quite fully baked. Responsiveness is crucial for a device like this and it's just not good enough yet. I would love to recommend this to friends for their kids, but I can't. Not yet. My hope is that the issues I've mentioned can be resolved with software updates.

Safe, fun, feature-filled smartwatch for kids
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shopping for a safe, reliable, and appropriate smartwatch for a child can be a daunting task. You want top quality and the best features to monitor and communicate with your children. You also want something that introduces them to that feeling of independence a smartwatch can provide, while also being a device that excites them enough to continue using it. If you’re like me, then Google’s Fitbit Ace smartwatch presents a great option for you and your child. Google keeps setup simple with the Fitbit Ace. Packaged lightly with the device is a changeable watchband, a watch-face bumper, and a magnetic USB-C charging cable. Power the watch on, download the Fitbit Ace app onto the parent’s mobile phone, and follow just a few steps to connect the watch to your Google account. The watchband clicks easily in place, and it is the perfect size for your young ones arm. My ten-year old was able to set it up on his own in minutes under loose supervision. My child says the watch is comfortable, and aside from wanting to check up on his activity points, he’s not constantly fiddling with it. I really like how the device rewards him for his various activities, and he genuinely loves keeping track of them and seeing the rewards that come with it, which include access to a number of different games and customization options. Maybe the best part about it is the fact that, as a watch, my child isn’t tasked with holding it or pocketing it like a mobile device or phone, which just opens the door to accidents or losing it altogether. Having the device on him leaves his hands free to do other activities like riding his bike or playing basketball. And while I’m sure he’ll grow out of the “rewards/games” aspect over time, it still functions well for its activity tracking and of course, for its safety monitoring. On the app, I’m able to call and message my child at the push of a button. The sound is clear on both speaker and in-ear through the phone. I’m especially happy with the location pinning as it is surprisingly accurate, even more so than some other tracking devices I’ve used. I’m also able to add and monitor the contacts that have access to the watch for calling and messaging - giving him access to message his cousins or close family friends allows him to feel the freedom and independence the watch gives. The Fitbit Ace has a serviceable battery life, but I do find he has to charge it every night. The battery charges very fast, but my child will often fall asleep with it on and will need to charge it up in the morning. Also, it must be said that this device and its features will only function optimally with an Ace Pass subscription purchase, whether it be month-to-month or annually. While affordable and reliable, it is still something to consider as an added cost along with the device. In any event, Google’s smartwatch for young children has everything you need to give your children a little bit of independence while giving you the peace of mind to be able to tracking them at any time.
