Customers are saying

Customers regard the Alta Activity Tracker (Large) favorably for its sleep tracking, ease of use, and comfortable size. Many appreciate the long battery life and stylish design, along with features like step tracking and notifications. However, some users wish for a heart rate monitor and improved water resistance. A few also noted challenges with the clasp mechanism.

Presented to my friend on his birthday, he loves his Alta and said its a great way to keep track of his activity. Instead of tap, a touch and swipe would be great.. It's just his thought. Good for presents and great for tracking your activities..

Slim but hard to snap band together

This replaced my flex fitbit and does have a few extra bells and whistles but the band is difficult to snap into place. The band is skinnier than the flex band and hard for me to snap together. Other than that it is a fitbit like all the others.

This is encouraging for increasing your movement. But I had to call tech support because the update wouldn't take, and I still don't see how to register my sleep. All in all, it's a challenging process to make the Alta a part of my life.

found this fairly easy to set-up and is a great motivator to start any fitness plan as you can track your results. The only problem I am having is that it doesn't track your millage and step count correctly when I am walking on a treadmill

I spoke with a Fitbit rep about wrist movement and also how hard you had to tap it to see the screen. Still not working right. Really wanted to exchange it but Best Buy rep basically said its a new product yes it will have bugs to work out

The Alta is comfortable to wear all day, but I have to shake my wrist sometimes to get the display to light up. My favorite feature is the silent alarm, which lets me get up to go to work without waking thre family during summer.

Got this for my wife. It lasted less then a year. No water damage to general use. The Bluetooth went out and would no longer sync. Luckily I had the warranty from Best Buy and was able to replace.

I like the sleep tracker it helps me track my sleep patterns. the gold is catches peoples eyes and the color starts the conversation about the Fitbit. People tell me that they like the color and it is very nice to look at.

I'm not totally familiar with many of the functions just yet so I'm probably not taking full advantage of the product. One thing that is particularly difficult is putting the device on my wrist. Any advice would be helpful.

It is fun but a little difficult to trigger the display. Sometimes you need to shake and tap quite a bit. The band is also a problem to get on. The little prongs do not fit into the holes. Hopefully they will change that.

It was nice while it lasted...

I already wrote a review and this is a mere update. I stand by my four stars for the product itself but the 1 star for this update is due to the poor design of the wristband. I purchased this fitness tracker on 9/9/16 and it fell off my wrist somewhere between Penn Station in NYC and the train I boarded on 10/13/16 to be forever lost. I found a discussion board on FitBit's website where there are MANY people who have lost their FitBit and the biggest argument is the poor design of the wristband. I could count on one hand how many times the wristband came off my wrist (either in my sleep or simply while in the house) but one time in my opinion is too many. Instead of a secure clasp to secure the band to your wrist it is fastened by a pin. I never felt the band come off of my wrist the day I lost it. There will be many who will rebut that their tracker never falls off their wrist. I'm happy for you but google "lost fitbit tracker" and you will see a sea of people who had this happen to them. I found a discussion board on line and learned that there is an app you can download on your mobile device to "find your FitBit" but it only works if the FitBit is near you (like it fell off in your car or somewhere in your house). It is not like the "Find My iPhone" feature so it is as good as useless if you lost the tracker elsewhere. Also if you call or start an online chat with the FitBit customer service people they can tell based on you supplying your email the last time your tracker synced. If you are telling the truth about losing the tracker they offer you a 25% coupon to buy another tracker. I liked the Alta but not enough to buy another one. I also purchased the Geek Squad protection and was told it doesn't work for lost items so I'm out the money I spent for the tracker and the Geek Squad protection. When FitBit comes out with an Alta (or its successor) with a better wristband I may consider purchasing it. But I won't buy any accessory that I see is available to secure the wristband to my wrist. The design should be better.
