    All around great dashcam worth the price

    This is my first dashcam and definitely one I'll be keeping for a while. Mine is located just to the left of the rear view mirror. Know that you can't just open it up and start recording; the mount is magnetic based (which is good, you can remove it from sight when you need to, or between cars) but you'll need to position the mount on the windshield and let it rest for 24 hours before use. During this time, you can be updating the firmware and learning the functionality. Records video and sound well (a little too well, I can hear my awful voice crystal clear while singing to music haha). Picture at night is surprisingly better than I thought, and it can generally see what you can. Have had no deal-breaking issues such as overheating. As for the three gimmicky features; Lane Departure and Forward Collision alerts work better than I imagined, even at night. For lane departure warnings to work, the line must be solid white/yellow, so it won't alert you if you're floating into another actual lane. "Traffic is moving" warning on the other hand is finnicky and alerts me after I've already began moving with the traffic. I'll have to adjust the sensitivity levels a bit. I would NOT rely on any of these three because they are not always accurate, and on occasion will either falsely alert you or not alert you at all. Otherwise a great dashcam!

    Great camera with nice features. I wasn't expecting the lane departure and collision warning to work, but it actually does ok. My only gripe is that I can't find extra magnetic disks to use with multiple cars.

    Great Cam for Canada, Allergic to heat

    Bought cam back in Feb, worked great until first 90+ degree day few days ago, died while I was showing my clients, would not reset/turn back on. I intended on purchasing a second one to give away to client the next day, but until this issue is resolved, will not purchase. Aside from the major issue of not working, great cam (visual and sound notifications nice as well). Appears this is an issue as other reviews state similar issues.

    Works as it is supposed to and all the bells and whistles work great. The screen times out, but keeps recording, red light camera works perfect, and the alarm when you get too close to the car in front of you while driving works good. The only problem I've had is with VIRB. I get it loaded on my phone and connected to the dash cam, the video clips appear,but when you try to play the segment it flashes between the picture and writing and doesn't play the video. I can take the micro sd card and put it in my laptop and the videos play well, Virb does not work. I've had mine working for about 2 months and it works very well.

    Had two of these, one for each car for 90 days now. Only a couple of issues. I have the VIBR app downloaded to my phone and even at 720p video won't play. I only see a circle spinning. Also one camera stopped working today. It would not power on. It worked when not plugged into the adapter and worked when hooked up to the computer but the moment I put plugged it in it stopped working. troubleshooting by phone trying to update did not solve the problem. Fortunately Best Buy made an exception and exchanged it for me. I love the camera itself, that's why I have one in each car.

    First sunny day in my truck, outside temperature only 53 degrees, camera died and would not turn on for 30 minutes in the shade. I contacted Garmin support. They said if camera is at latest firmware then there was nothing else they could do. Well, this is being returned to Bestbuy. Thankfully I didn't buy this anywhere else but Bestbuy. I can trust that when something goes wrong, Bestbuy will refund your money or exchange. I will look for another dashcam that is ready for the extreme temperatures that obviously occur in a vehicle.

    I thought the product was great until it started to get above 50 degrees outside. I had it wired to always be on when my car was driving... it worked great until it started getting warmer outside and then I noticed that the Dash Cam would turn off. I would touch the Dash Cam and it was extremely HOT. I updated the software to the latest version as of April 2018 and no change in operation. It is too late to return and now I have a piece of Overheating Garbage

      Sounds like the display may be timing out. This model includes a Display Timeout setting which will automatically dim the display of the device after a period of inactivity. The device will continue to record video even while the screen is dimmed (indicated by a red light), provided the microSD card remains in the device and the device remains powered on.     Decent camera, horrible power cord & customer srvc

    The camera is pretty decent, license plates can be a little grainy and unreadable unless the vehicle is stopped right in front of you. The main thing is it is clear enough to show police what happened should you need it. My biggest issue is the power cord. I have been through 2 power cords in the year I have had the camera. With the new software upgrade the camera won't take a random mini USB, it has to be specific for the camera or it will think it is plugged into a computer and not record. It is obviously a bigger issue then just me since all stores, including Garmin online store, are sold out of the power cord. I have contacted Garmin support multiple times and they don't seem to care calling it normal wear and tear. I expected more from a big name company.

    Not sure why it gets so many 5 stars here but so many one star at Amazon. I am not satisfied with this product at this price. Remember, this is GARMIN! Every time I turn on the device I have to setup language and locale, and agree the warning. For a CAR camera this is not reasonable. Why the settings cannot be saved automatically? Video quality is pretty bad (at this price), grainy. And it has strong distortion even at center area. High temperature while it is working. Have to return it back to store the other day.

    It only lasted one month and die. Luckily best but had extended there return because of Christmas so I got my money back. at this point I'm not sure if I buy another one or a different brand

    Poor quality picture, Not true parking mode. Need to clarify what their parking mode does. When they say it detects motion, most people would think that means something moving around the front of vehicle. This cam doesn’t do that. Memory card was degrading the first day of use.

    Gets hot and turns off

    I don’t know what’s worse, the dashcam or Garmin customer support. 7 days old and they want me to mail the unit to them and after they check it they’ll send me a refurbished unit with a 90 day warranty. No thanks garmin, I believe bestbuy can send it back to ya and I’ll buy a different brand.

    Wouldn't update to latest software with Garmin Express and VIRB App wouldn't connect via WiFi. Garmin Support was no help at all.

    Garmin 45 worked for about 2 months and just died. Tried everything to get this piece of crap to work. I mailed it to Garmins headquarters so they could see the junk they where making. Don't waste your time on these product.

    I bought this brand new and after a week, its stuck on the garmin loading screen until goes dead, and does the same process. $160??????? They are taking your money. Do not BUY!!!!!!
