I don’t recommend. It never found the address that I wanted. I used my phone Maia instead. Also the touch screen is hard to press.

Sorry to hear you're not happy with this product. Being our entry level device I would recommend looking into our latest DriveSmart line for the premium display & touch functionality you are looking for. We can also assist with searching for an address you may be having difficulties finding. It is rare but if a new address is missing from the mapping we will also assist in reporting this to the mapping provider. Please start by visiting https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ Garmin

    Outstanding GPS

So after much investigation and testing of other brands, I purchased the Garmin Drive 52 and absolutely love it! The Garmin Drive 52 gives you spoken real time directions with street names. It is wonderful!!! It always shows your next exit or turn with mileage at the top of the screen. It is fantastic! And when you come up to your next exit or turn, it goes to split screen and shows you which lane you should be in. It is idiot proof! My wife and I travel a lot towing a 25' travel trailer (48 states in 2 years since I retired) and we need something that we can depend on. Also it has lifetime maps as well, even though it doesn't have LM on the box. I called Garmin to make sure. Also I updated the maps with the campground wifi and it only took about 1.5 hours! I couldn't believe it! So goodbye to TomTom, it was a great ride with the XL340 which we loved but after we "upgraded" to your via 1525M we did not like your "improvements" and did not feel confident or safe in your directions or the accuracy of the unit so we returned it and bought the Garmin Drive 52 and haven't looked back.

    Needs a camera

First off, I hate that Garmin stopped integrating a dash cam into their more basic GPS devices. It's ridiculous that I would have to spend $500 on a device (which is too large for my needs) just to get a dash cam along with GPS. Aside from that irritation, I found that the Garmin device is good and accurate for the most part. For some reason, on occasion, businesses as well as other locations, although having been established for many years, do not show up on a search. Even when a specific address, for a specific establishment is put into the search box, the device cannot locate it. Perhaps I just need to update the software, but I would think that would only impact more recent establishments. Other than that, it seems to do what we purchased it for.

Good GPS and value for money. Had few concerns initially but once understood the console then it was easy to use.

It works as expected, the traffic information is quite accurate. Easy to use. The screen size greatly helps to distinguish the details of the route.

This is exactly what I needed. My old Garmin was not working well and this new one works great! I'll be using it while driving on vacation. Easy to use. Nice screen. Nice voice.

    Better GPS

Impressive upgrade to our previous Garmin. Still has weakness of saying turn right at street name, with no obvious street sign or impossible to read street sign after dark. But much of the time instruction is to turn at the stop sign

    Nice GPS system

The best thing about the Garmin is that it uses terms like, “In one quarter mile…” which I find much easier than hearing “… 500 yards …” to estimate where my turn is. One thing I didn’t like was that adjusting the volume wasn’t easy or I couldn’t find a short cut and had to go back to the beginning to change it. Overall, I prefer it to my old GPS.

I bought this in 2019 and still use it today in 2023. It has trouble finding addresses occasionally, and sometimes it'll show something as being in the wrong town if it's on the boarder between two towns, but it works great 99% of the time.

Absolutely love it! I bought as Christmas gift and wanted to make sure it was good to go. After trying it one time I am keeping it for myself! Planned a trip in just a few entries, love the lifetime maps, adjusted the volume to hear while I was driving. Hope if you buy you love it as much as I do. I am not tech savvy but this was just so easy to set up! You don't have to spend a ton of $'s to get a great unit!

    Garmin Does its Job

I bought this to replace my 12 year old Garmin but only because I could not find it. It is a great device, does its job well. I prefer to use the Garmin instead of my phone and this allows me to do so at a relatively decent price.

Tried this out on a 5+ hour trip last weekend. We loved it! We had been way overdue to replace our old GPS and finally did so specifically knowing we had the trip coming up. So much better than the old one! We did not want one that connects via our phones, Bluetooth, etc. This one is exactly what we wanted. Very pleased.

Always wanted a GPS for my old car. When I saw that Best Buy had one on sale, I said to myself get one. It works very well. It saves me the time of printing a map of where I want to go.

It was most helpful; to have the Garmin on a trip to Vermont where you never know if there will be a signal on your phone to help you find your way! The Garmin brought peace during our excursion.

It works well for getting me to my destination. Sometimes it takes a while to acquire the satellite when I turn it on. Once it took about 5 miles into my destination before it started working but once the satellite was acquired it took me exactly to my location.

Great help when threading through cities. Warns you when you need to change lanes which is especially useful when in an unfamiliar area in busy traffic. Good value.

Modest upgrade form a 10 yo Nuvi

    Posted .

Got this to replace 10 yo Nuvi that quit reading the sd card. This unit is a modest upgrade. it repsonds quicker, has louder volume and uses a mini usb port for both the 12v car adapter and the usb cable. The plastic screen cover says it's ready to use but mine needed about an hour of charging before it woke up, then ask to be updated via Garmin express. You'll need either Windows or a Mac and an internet connection. Charging and the update took a few hours so don't plan to use it immediately. It won't accept pre planned routes via tracks created in Ride With gps or in Basecamp but will take waypoints that show in the "saved" section. It's a bit later in announcing turns than Google. The preview map makes up for that. Just getting the updated maps was worth the purchase.
