It's OK.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not for my taste, but other people might like it. It *gently* reminds about the speed limit when it goes down, but I'd rather leave it alone, and instead had the older option - the voice telling me "recalculating" when I miss the turn, thus alerting me to my mistake. But this GPS just quietly starts recalculating the new route on the screen. It doesn't have the blue tooth as well, so Garmin older model like 1450 LMT was better - more action for the buck. However life maps are included here as well, which is a good thing. Another concern is the touch screen - I think it needs protection now, like the phone. Overall not bad, but not the greatest thing ever, so when on sale, it's OK.

A basic entry-level GPS
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garmin Drive 53 is a basic entry-level GPS. It does a fine job in the US, but during a recent trip to Montreal, Canada it frequently got confused and gave us bizarre and confusing and sometimes incorrect driving instructions. When the Garmin GPS gets confused, you will need to drive away from your current location for several blocks, so that it will "wake up" and correct itself and get you on the right track eventually. Garmin's map updates are not truly updated even though we performed the map updates the day before we traveled. These outdated Garmin map "updates" have resulted in several misleading driving instructions during our recent trips. Unlike our TomTom GPS that has a built-in WiFi to perform map updates automatically without a computer, you will need to hook up the Garmin GPS to a computer to get the map updates.

Happy Traveller
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace an old Tom-Tom that could no longer be updated. While I wanted to get a larger screen, the sale price for the unity I got was too good to pass up. The display is crisp and easily seen. It got us from Colorado to South Dakota with no trouble. Let's see how it does when we go to Canada this summer - if they'll let us in.

Gamin GPS
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great! I had an older version, that I had for a number of years. It still works! That's why I went with this one. I love the ease and the updated on this. And for the price being the same, made it even better!

Drive 53
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Garmin Drive 53 is a solid choice for U.S. drivers who want a simple, dedicated GPS. Its bright 5” display, clear directions, and helpful driver alerts make navigation easy without relying on a smartphone. Setup is quick, and preloaded U.S. maps are accurate and reliable. However, address entry can feel slow, and live traffic data isn’t as robust as phone-based apps. Map updates require a computer, and the interface feels basic compared to newer devices. Overall, it’s a dependable, distraction-free navigator for everyday U.S. travel.

Great for verbal directions
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The display is crystal clear. Navigation is smooth. If your looking for more verbal guidance this is great because the screen doesn’t take up much room.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is exactly what I was looking for to replace the one that finally died on me after several years. It is very easy to read & to operate. Nice adequate sized screen...not too big & not too small, & doesn't block my vision while driving.

Great product!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this product to replace my 15 year old GPSs and it's doing well for it's size. It's easy to update with a program added to your computer and notifies you of current updated programs. And the price is good for it's compatibility.

Good Device overall
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had Garmin GPS units for a very long time and they just keep getting better. They aren't perfect but close enough to it to make it a five star. There is not much it can't find and with a quick update of maps and software it finds those new things that pop up. The only thing that is slightly annoying is the search method. It works great but it is multiple steps instead of just putting an address in the search bar. You have to first do the house/business number then you have to put in the street name then and then and finally you got it. It just seems a little bit counterintuitive. Other than that the suggestions for places such as restaurants and gas stations are spot on and makes life easier when you are away from your home area.
