While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we suggest checking for map and software updates that were released while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. This model includes Built-in Wi-Fi® for easy map and software updates. Additional help can be found on the Garmin Support Center.
Low information gps

It was the gentlemen and my experience with him. I went in with my purchase becuz I was having a hard time figuring it out. I probably wud not have made the return had he not been so rude and not helpful. In all the years I have visited this store.. never ... ever has someone been so dismissive.

It took me down roads that were closed. When I compared it to my apple map on my I phone there was no comparison. Apple Maps won hands down.

Bluetooth issues

Since trying to link to Bluetooth in my car my am/fm radio does not work! Can’t get into see anyone for an appointment until January. Will probably return!

Screen frozen

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a GPS to replace my older one that had become slow and has a small screen. The Garmin 86 looked like a good fit but unfortunately it falls to the common pitfall of companies selling only half finished products. In this case they removed the built in traffic functionality present in older GPS models. Those have the traffic antenna built into the charger cable. For no reason that I can understand this one lacks the antenna and is not natively compatible with the old charger (Mini USB cable but USB C GPS plug). You can receive traffic through your phone but then you might as well use GPS maps on your phone and not spend over $300. I'm getting a stand alone GPS because I don't want to use my phone, so why should I have to use my phone? Thankfully the traffic feature isn't absolutely necessary, but it is very useful and to make a GPS that doesn't natively include this functionality is extremely bizarre. I can't recommend this GPS.
