It’s a nice watch, a little complicated to use and constantly disconnects from my phone a lot

Quite difficult to setup. Watch face scratched easily! Most features are helpful in timing mode

    Solar or AMOLED? Unlimited power!

If you're like me, you spend hours reviewing watches only to come to the store and stare at the one you didn't think you'd buy. As someone who's used both, this is why I chose the Garmin Instinct Solar. Build: Remember those old Nokia phones? The phones you could literally drop off a cliff, and they'd leave a crater in the ground? That's this watch. Solid, with a 10 ATM rating (10 meters under water or 100 meters of pressure). In a nutshell, you're safe during a rainstorm, swimming in a pool, or taking a shower. And yes, the orange band around the watch is a hideous sight. Power: With GPS on and display set to 5%, the watch showed I had 12 days of power before a plug in. Which compared to the AMOLED which boosts 16 days of power (with always on display turned off), I was a bit disappointed. HOWEVER, at the end of day with about an hour of sun from driving and walking outside, my percentage showed I had 97% left. Not bad at all. Display: The AMOLED destroys the MIP (Monochrome Inverse Polarized) screen. It looks phenomenal and easy to see in the sunlight. Not that there's anything wrong with the MIP. It's easy to see in both sunlight and darkness can even display chromatic emojis from text messages. This is not a touch screen watch (more on that later). DO NOT PUT A SCREEN PROTECTOR ON EITHER SCREEN. Sure, on Google you'll read with through pages of threads arguing about this. But the Garmin deity has spoken and forbade the use of these. Plus, it's meant to take a beating. A screen protector also reduces the efficiency of your solar panel. Use: I feel fairly comfortable with tech. But I boarded the struggle bus when I first used this. Which button does what? Thankfully, when you connect the watch to your phone Garmin takes you through an in-depth tutorial on how to use your watch which is pretty cool. The buttons are large enough to operate with gloves. The app is fairly easy to use and set up was a breeze. Both watches track your sleep, give you a morning report on how well you slept, and provide a ton of other health information. It even tries to cheer you up when you're your health score is low. Other fun facts: A flashlight on a watch? A gimmick until you actually use it. And now, you realize you'll never buy another watch without a flashlight. There is a red light as well as four intensity levels. I could see a good eight feet in front of me on the highest intensity level. The red light is great for those midnight snack runs to the fridge and just about everything you'd do in a low light setting. Clean the watch every week with a soft towel and water if you don't want skin irritation. I have small wrists and the 45 mm fits incredibly well. Overall, amazing watch and one you won't regret purchasing. Yes, the orange band is an eyesore but at least it's a tolerable eyesore with all the benefits of Garmin goodness.

I’ve had the watch for over a month already. Doesn’t accurately track sleep or steps. With that being said it defeats the purpose of the watch given that it’s one of the main purposes. I would recommend another watch.

It’s a good phone, but all the pictures are in color, and if you get the solar version, it’s monochrome, so I took it back.

I had a Garmin Fenix 6 for 4 1/2 years and I still love that watch. Battery only last 2 days now before it needs a charge. Answer to that is to buy the Instinct 3 that has all my needs and is amazingly more comfortable, and it's SOLAR. Can't wait to see how long it lasts.
