Haven't got lost yet with my new garmin Nuvi 2597 lmt 5" gps

I've had this particular model for about 3 months now and I'm overall pretty happy with it. I like that I can download little addons off the Garmin site for free (like changing the vehicle icon or voice). The Smart Link is pretty nifty as well since I can send addresses to the unit from my phone, as well as get Real Time traffic updates. The bluetooth connectivity is great and the sound during phone calls is great. The accuracy of this thing is pretty spot on, and I really love the Lane Guidance. When giving directions, it shows you pictures of the lanes to be in, as well as tells you something like, "Be in any of the right two lanes" or whatever lane(s) you need to be in. The screen is a great size and is easily viewable in both day and night. Some things I noticed, though, are that sometimes the GPS loses signal going through underpasses, but I only found this only to happen in one area so far (in Philly, off the Del Expressway I-95 going towards I-76). I also noticed, during a trip driving to Elizabethtown from Philly, the GPS lost signal/looked like I was driving in the middle of nowhere at one part during my drive when I got into the farming areas. Took a couple minutes to fix itself, which, during that time, I plugged my destination into my phone (just in case). This didn't happen on the drive back, however. The thing that irked me for a little while, before I figured it out, was how to set the auto brightness for the screen. Before I figured it out, it would constantly change brightness down to 20 - 25% while driving, even when I had it set to 100% and to never time-out. There are two possible options to fix this: First Option: 1. Tap "View Map" 2. Tap and hold the odometer icon, (or tap the "Speed" icon first if you don't have the odometer enabled) 3. After the screen changes, tap "Demo Mode," and if it's not disabled, disable it. Second Option (this worked for me, as the Demo Mode was already disabled): 1. Tap "Settings" 2. Go to time settings 3. Make sure it's set to "Auto" It was driving me nuts until I googled it and found these tips. Overall, I would definitely recommend this model to any of my friends and family.

I haven't had it long enough to get give it a good full work out. From what other people tell me it is great ask me later and I;ll tell you what I think of it. AlI need to do is take a vacation and see if it takes me where I say I want to go . I;m sure it will be fine.

I got this for the blues hands free phone feature. Microphone quality poor. Called support and there is no tweak or fix. They suggested return it and get 2015 model with microphone upgrades.

voice activation doesn"t do what you want it to do !!!! it gives STUPID replies to your commands ! WOOW!!!!!!! i guess i'm stuck with it.... i'll have to keep trying, or untill it gets me LOST !!!!

Thought ot Garmin as a top of the line GPS. Bought this to replace a 6 year old Tom Tom. Garmin did not work properly. Unit was sending me out of my way to get somewhere. The directions did not make sense. I returned the Garmin and bought another Tom Tom.

In the world of GPS you can't go wrong with Garmin.

I spent extra money on this GPS because it has voice command, however the voice command cannot understand anything I am ever saying so it is pointless! However I do like having GPS as I am living in a new area and need it to get around

I have an old garmin GPS and thought I needed an upgrade. I use google maps on my iPhone for traffic I thought this GPS would be as good or better but it's not . That's the only disappointing part about works great with directions.

I have decided to return it to best buy. The feature did not meet my satisfied. No dashboard customs availability. Others are useful and easy to use

Product works well, but is older model with limited memory, runs out of memory when updating. Technical support recommended SD memory to increase capacity so updates will take.
