The increased screen size makes typing addresses much easier, and is great for stretching out the map to obtain close-up views.

Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. I came back to the Garmin name, QUICKLY! Map quality is tremendous, updates are free, Bluetooth is excellent. I'm told that the Garmin Bluetooth actually sounds better than the phone direct. I will remain a loyal Garmin customer. The quality and ease of use is second to none and certainly worth the few extra dollars.

Please ensure the device is up to date with the latest maps and software. You can do so using Garmin Express. If your device up to date, and is not routing what you know to be the quickest way to a destination, it may be the result of a couple of variables.
The device will route you to your destination in the quickest general way it knows how. If you are more familiar with the area, chances are you will know a quicker way in certain scenarios. If that is the case, then the device will not route those shortcuts because it wants to route you on major general roads. However, should you decide to take such shortcuts, then the device will most likely recalculate to your desired route if you simply drive that route.
Ensure the route preference setting is set to what you prefer. Shorter in miles, or Faster in time.
With a Shorter Distance setting, the device creates a route that is a shorter driving distance between two points. Generally, it will take you onto more side streets, and may take you longer to arrive.
The faster time setting uses information including posted speed limits, road types, and driving distance to create a route that is faster, even if it may be a longer distance. Generally routing on highways when possible.
Another setting that can be adjusted on the device is the avoidances. If highways or motorways are checked, then the device will avoid them when calculating a route, even if the route preference is set to faster time.
To check your device's navigation settings:
1. Touch Settings
2. Touch Navigation
3. Ensure that the Route Preference is set to Faster Time or Shorter Distance (whichever you prefer)
1. Touch Avoidances
2. Select only the options you would like to avoid
3. Touch OK or Save
Once the settings are set accordingly, the device should now route appropriately.
Additionally, here are some tips for using the voice command feature:
* Speak in a normal voice directly at the device.
* Speak commands as they appear on the screen.
* Respond to the voice prompts from the device as needed.
* To reduce the number of accidental voice command wake-ups, increase the length of your wakeup phrase.
* Speak Exit to exit voice command.
* If you press "Mute Instructions" the verbal replies from Voice Command will be muted.
