Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but this Garmin takes me off the interstate (which is faster) to cut through city streets because overall distance is shorter. Oh well.

Bought this for my husband who is working on the Tappan Zee Bridge project just outside NYC. He travels to upstate ny on a weekly basis and said he had to have GPS because the roads down by the city are all highways, one ways, no u-turns and he was afraid he would get lost! He couldn't be happier with this product. When I asked my co-workers which ones to get they all sid not the Tom tom's get the Garmin! I am so happy I did. We paid a little extra for the larger screen, and the lifetime maps and had to have the traffic updates with him being that close to the city but it has absolutely been worth every penny. I would recomment this over and over again.

I hate ones that take a few seconds to recognize what letter you just hit. I am still getting to know how to use some of its features and figuring out how to save destinations has been a little difficult but you get used to it. I love how I can connect via Blue tooth and send destinations right from Google maps. Definitely the best GPS I have ever owned at this price level.

He doesn't type fast enough and gets upset when he doesn't get it right. With the voice command he can give the unit the address he is trying to find and it will take him there. Nice voice easy to listen to and gives excellent turn directions. My hubby also has a hard time hearing to some but this one is no problem. Now he can go without me and I don't worry about him getting lost. My grands have been on more than a few adventures when Papa is driving.

It worked well on the trip across country, but will occasionally not want to turn on, which is a real problem when you are lost. I don't know if this is just a faulty unit or a trend
