Great navigation unit

The traffic alerts never worked, I spent hours in traffic and when I did the search it showed none. The lane assists did not come on when it was needed the most. On top of all that it had just froze after going thru the a tunnel. When I used the bluetooth people would complain about it. It was not worth the extra money for the extra features.

Posted .We apologize if you didn't have the best experience with this device. If you haven't already, we strongly recommend getting the latest system software and mapping available for the nuvi 2597LMT. You can get these updates using Garmin Express at http://www.garmin.com/express
There are a couple ways to alter the way your device calculates routes, some may create more optimal routes for your preference. If the device's route preference or calculation mode is set to Shorter Distance, this may cause the device to guide you on a less efficient route since it is not based on arrival time, but simply less miles driven. Faster Time will look for whichever route will give the fastest arrival time, so this is typically the best option for most users.
Another setting that can be adjusted on the device is the avoidances. You will want to be sure that the only options checked are the ones you want to avoid at all costs.
You can check these settings by going to Settings > Navigation on your nuvi 2597LMT.

Posted .Thank you for your review. The nuvi 2597LMT does have an SD slot. It is located on the bottom of the unit. It will accept micro SD cards up to 32 GB in size.
The nuvi 2597LMT also displays Distance or Arrival time.
The View Map screen on the device will always show your current speed, but the additional data field can be adjusted to show Direction of Travel, Elevation, Current Time, and while in an active route, Arrival time, Distance to Arrival, and more.
To change the data field on the device, follow the steps below:
1. Touch View Map
2. Touch the data field on the right
3. Touch the desired option
Again: All the following options are available: Direction of Travel, Elevation, and Current Time/Time of Day. While in an active route, you'll also see the option of Arrival time/ETA, Distance to Arrival, and more.

It is wrong more than it is right and I really don't like being IN the backed up traffic when it suddenly gives the warning. Other times it will be warning of traffic and there is none. Frankly speaking I should have just stuck to Apple Maps or Google Maps. Garmin (even after downloading multiple applications and software and maps) has the following issues. 1. It goes blank after 20-25 minutes for a period of 60-90 seconds. And then it comes on again. 2. Last mile connectivity is horrible. It still shows my home being 1.5kms away from where it is. 3. Routes identified are not always the best. It's good if you have a highway, but HK is a small city with small lanes. Doesn't help. 4. Recalculation of routes take more time than by Apple/Google. 5. Given Garmin has a map for HK, I would assume they should be updated and the menu should be able to pick up older landmarks. Nada to both. All in all, I am not a happy customer. My wife and I own vivofit as well, but not very h appy with the GPS. Thanks.

Mapping data is constantly being updated as there are so many new changes to business, residences, and streets. We are always trying to improve this large database; however if you see an error please submit that information to my.garmin.com/mapErrors so we can review it and submit it to a map update.
