owned several models of Garmin through out the years. This one surpasses in speed, clarity and voice command is extremely helpful. Will take some getting use to as the steps to do certain things have changed. Example, setting a place you are at as a saved location. not as direct as in previous models. The mount is also a plus for those who remove up and down often. The magnetic connection is very nice.

I always liked the way I could shout at my Android in Google Maps and get to where I was going. Now I can do it with the 3597. Voice recognition is dead on when the car is quiet. It will sometimes take more than 1 attempt when the radio is on or the windows are open or your annoying wife won't shut up. It boots up nearly instantly and if you haven't dramatically changed locations from when you shut it off, it finds satellites within a few seconds. The screen is awesome and plenty bright. I would buy it again.

Good product. The only drawback is that it does not come with the USB cable that you need to connect to Garmin express.

Instead of Garmin's imaginary vehicles, you can download an icon of your own real vehicle for the map using a free Garmin enthusiasts' site called vehiclesforgarminnuvi. After updating software, the car charger cable also provides current weather details & 6 day forecast for free, even without a phone (but no free weather radar maps). You can also charge the device's battery by connecting the back of the GPS to a powered USB port, & check the % charged by right-clicking its icon. This sat-nav is a useful alternative if you can't rationalize throwing many more hundreds/year down the smartphone moneypit, & you can't accept paying extra thousands for the top-tier model of a vehicle you otherwise wouldn't upgrade to except to get its built-in GPS.

The speaker built into the base gets plenty loud and clear to hear the verbal cues when driving. The sound from the device itself when not attached to the speaker is not nearly loud enough for most situations. But, so long as you are using in your car and have it attached to the mount (with the built in speaker) that also functions as the charging station, you can hear the verbal cues nice and clearly even with the windows rolled down. And, the voice activation is just fantastic. I don't think I'll ever even use the touch screen. Definitely recommend this device. PS. My only other "complaint" is that I wish it had a pedestrian aspect so I could carry into cities I don't know and walk around with it's assistance. But, the driving instructions part of it is terrific.

Love all of the features of this Garmin GPS, fairly expensive but it can take up to 10 mins to find satellite signal which can sometimes be a problem when you're in a hurry.

This is my first gps, so I have nothing to compare to. The magnet that seats the unit is very easy, works great. It is expensive and I don't know if it is worth the difference in money from other units, but I felt like I would have more longevity with the unit before I would need to upgrade again. The pinch and zoom works well. I really like the junction view/lane assist. It is amazing to me how the exit sign on the gps looks just like the one on the road. Note: this is only on certain junctions...typically coming off an interstate onto a major road. My only complaint is the voice recognition. The unit always hears me say "voice command", but then I have to turn off the radio and enunciate clearly 1 word at a time. Even then it is spotty. This is a minor to moderate annoyance. I think it is a great unit. I've only had it 1 month so I left "durability" blank. I'm glad I got this model.

I upgraded to this garmin so i could zoom out more 60 miles and still have 3D view. Older version would switch out of 3D mode when zooming out. Larger Display is great. my only wish is that i could optionally have another field on display like i could on older models. As with other Garmins this one will route you around traffic and not give you warning, I keep the traffic auto reroute off.

I haven't had the opportunity to use this Garmin too much, but so far like the screen and the guidance for which lane to be in. My old Garmin didn't have that feature. I plan to use this on our trip to Ireland, hopefully, it won't lead me astray.

While my testing out of this particular model (3597LMTHD 5" GPS ) and its features went mostly very good, I really was hoping the screen size would be acceptable for my usage in my truck. It had a very good screen and was good enough for usage in my Explorer, but found it too small for usage in my truck application. I did find one particular feature that my older GPS's did not have, and can be suspect. While not the fault of the GPS, I include the following negatives more of a "heads up" than anthing else. 3 times within 2 days, the gps gave me the warning that the particular roads I was navigating on, were closed. Since I was very familiar with area and while the roads were having working done were not closed and I proceeded on. This information that GPS's uses comes from local traffic alert systems and if not provided accurately or timely can provide deceiving information. My local Best Buy took the return very quickly and without any negative responses, which I very much appreciated not be hasseled.

Some maps are wrong, The phone Blue tooth is not clear on the user side, But the over all device works well, The voice command sometime does not work well, This is my 3rd Garmin GPS as I keep updating every couple years, Still have not seen the landmark section work on it. Like anything else I still trying to fine the location of the new Menus buttons. But I still like it.

This GPS is excellent. Voice commands work great, magnetic craddle works great. The suction cup mount has fallen twice, so I ordered the dash friction mounting pad and it works great. The bluetooth allows me to use my cell phone hands free.

I like the look (very clean and easy to see). I also like the voice command. The Bluetooth is not loud enough (may be me. The thing I've noticed the most is the GPS gives me total mileage to my destination of 296, but MapQuest gives me 470)...yes, I've check the route and it is the same. Not sure why that is happening. It's deceiving for me in calculating true travel time.
