Vivosmart HR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great activity tracker. 5.5 days with bluetooth on. 7+ days with bluetooth off (daily syncing), great battery life! Great styling and fit, very comfortable.

Everything is great but weak with "floors climbed"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love that it has so many health features and I can integrate with my phone, scale, navigation device, and other apps. What it lacks is tracking floors climbed. I have a 2 story house and run up/down atleast 20 times a day, but the vivo HR will track me as "zero floors climbed." Besides this, vivo HR has revolutionized the way I look at my health, food, and sleep.

Don't buy this for the HR function
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fit is comfortable for my wrist (large size) and the screen is relatively easy to read. But the HR count is wildly inaccurate during exercise. Steps and stair steps can also have substantial errors. It often increases stair steps during normal walks on relatively flat terrain. On the + side it works well with the iOs app and syncs easily with My Fitness Pal.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m sorry to hear about the heart rate and step/stair inaccuracies that you experienced with your vívosmart HR. I would like to offer some suggestions that may improve these features for you.
The optical heart rate sensor on the vívosmart HR uses light to penetrate the skin and estimate your heart rate. To ensure that you’re getting the best heart rate accuracy, please follow these guidelines:
- Ensure that your wrist is clean and dry.
- Ensure that the watch is snug fit.
- Wear the watch on the outside of your wrist, away from your wrist bone.
- Avoid wearing the watch over dark tattoos.
- Ensure the green lights on the watch are functioning.
Keeping the device software up to date is important as well, as updates are released periodically to improve the watch’s functionality. Software updates can be done through Garmin Express, which can be downloaded here: j.mp/GRMNXP
With regard to your step/stair inaccuracies, the vivosmart HR has a built-in barometer that measure changes in elevation as stairs are climbed. The device will need to measure at least 10 feet of elevation change in order to display floors climbed. The following FAQ may be helpful, as it explains why an Activity Tracker may not accumulate steps while working out: http://bit.ly/1vHEFYc
Should accuracy issues persist, Garmin Customer Care would be happy to offer additional troubleshooting and assistance. Please visit j.mp/GRMNSupport for our contact information and hours of operation.
We value your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. (KS)

Poor battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched the unit extensively before I bought. A big plus was the 5 - 7 day battery life. The longest I got was 18 hours. After less than a month, the unit locked up and only the heartrate monitor worked. I'll give BestBuy credit, they took the return with no issues.

Posted .Thank you for the time you took to write a review about the vívosmart HR. We’re sorry the product didn’t work out for you. We’d like to address some of the concerns mentioned about the battery life of the device. Sometimes the battery life of the vívosmart HR can be dramatically shorter due to notifications used from the phone. The more notifications communicating with the device the more the battery will drain. Click the link below for more information.

Very inaccurate, adds too many steps when driving
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like the Vivosmart HR. It wasn't wildly comfortable on my wrist, but I got used to it after a couple of hours. It was a little clunky to set up (pair with phone, online app) but I got through it. My biggest complaint and the reason it's going back tomorrow is that it would not always count steps during normal walking, did not register stairs climbed when going up and down in my house, and ADDED thousands of steps when I was a passenger in a car during a normal, smooth, 10-minute freeway ride. It also added 5 flights of stairs during the car ride (in flat Texas, so no altitude change). Until they can add some way to switch off or change to driving mode, it's useless for keeping up with steps. Note, I have no idea if the heart monitor is accurate, I didn't test it against anything - I was too shocked at the steps-while-driving glitch.

Happy with purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comfortable fit. Watch-like band is easier than other activity tracker bands to put on. Like that it knows when I have climbed up a distance equivalent to one flight of stairs. This has been an encouragement for me to take the stairs at work when I don't need to do so.

Tentative Review.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To say that the size of the band is "Regular Size / Fit's most wrists" is truly dishonest and laughable. I received one for christmas and at it's very biggest size, this band fit very tight on me. It seems to be much more suited to little girl wrists than any adult male wrist. My wrists are not abnormally large and I understand how others may prefer a smaller size due to smaller wrists but again, every watch I have ever purchased has always fit with plenty of room to spare. I am going to say that i'm not the only one who has run into this problem as all of the "extra large" sizes are sold out or on backorder, and the "regular" size versions are now on sale. (too many returns) I will adjust my review when I have a chance to actually wear it.

Handy but not accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my VIvoSmart for more than 6 months. The heart rate is all over the place compared to my chest belt unit that I use on the bike. It reads very high or low and is not useful. The watch face is not terribly durable. Normal wear and tear has left a lot of cracks, not just scuffs, although it's still waterproof. All that said, I still wear it most days because of the connectivity to my phone. I can see text messages and see phone numbers when calls come in without pulling out my phone. The vibration alerts are handy when the phone is on silent. I won't buy another one of these, but there is a lot of utility to be had here, especially if you're not banging it around like I do.

Certified Personal Trainer's Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a certified Personal Trainer (ACE & AFAA). I purchased the Garmin VIVOsmart HR for personal use. I had previously purchased, and tried, then returned a competitors comparable model for the same reasons I give this Garmin a bad review. That is, inconsistent data. The only reason I gave two stars is because even with it's flaws there is a certain amount of motivation one can gain using it. Also, people of different levels of fitness and activity may obtain more use from it. At first I had high hopes for this Garmin. Like the previous tracker I tried, it was not totally accurate but, it appeared that the Garmin may at least be consistent. However, after a couple days it proved to not be consistent. For example; If the device doesn't recognize the stair climb in my home, then it should do that every time I go up the stairs from day to day. Instead, one day it did and next zero stairs!! I also am not confident it is consistent with what it counts as a step. Consistency is the key here and I found this to be the failure of this device. Heart Rate tracking, at least for me, was inaccurate and inconsistent. Therefore, rendering any history reporting worthless. I used it while riding my bicycle and it was very fickle - not sure of all that influences it's ability to read HR but, definitely where it was on my wrist and how tight it was played a role. Messing with it while I was riding trying to get a somewhat acceptable steady reading, was a safety issue!! The concept of this tool for motivation made it something I REALLY wanted to love. I did find it personally motivating aiming to get those daily steps and stairs and tracking my heart rate (at least trying too). But after a couple days of inconsistent data and fickleness, I became disheartened as I realized the marketing of these products is far better then the product itself. I will recommend to others that they pick a more stable and consistent target to fix on using tried and true tools. Like starting off your bicycle rides on a level route with the aim be able to ride that hilly route in the reasonable near future. Or walking a mile in twenty minutes and aiming to increase speed and/or distance. Along with these more concrete targets, maybe a simple accurate (or at least consistent) pedometer can be used to motivate a more active day. And possibly tracking heart rate as you exercise may be better left to a chest strap. I'll try that next.

Terrible Software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The watch software, Garmin Connect on iPhone is the worst software integration I've ever experienced. Syncing - you will get an error 90% of the time...change screens and keep trying. Watch said it updated the software - but the info page still showed old software. By far the most annoying "feature" is that when plugged in to charge, the heart rate monitor sometimes stays ON - thereby showing a ridiculous heart rate which therefore logs "intensity" time for you...you can't delete the BS data with the iPhones app...you just have to live with hours of incorrect data...so what is the point? Driving with the VSmart also logged 1000 steps for me....can't delete the data on the app.
