    HR monitor not consistant

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The heart rate monitor frequently fails to register the correct heart beat during workouts. I haven't made it through one workout where it didn't drop in the middle or fail to start reading at the start. It's going back.

Thank you for the feedback. If the vívosmart HR is dropping your heart rate mid-workout, please make sure it's fitted snuggly to your wrist so the wrist-based heart rate monitor is not shifting too far off the skin.

You may also want to ensure that you're starting an activity so that the hear rate is recorded throughout.

If you're still having trouble after these tips, please reach out to our tech support team so they can troubleshoot and give you the experience you deserve.

    HR does not work!

My Vivosmart worked perfectly on 2.5 but after 2.6 when I swipe down to see my HR with in seconds the rate drops from 135 (while running) to 71 or 72 without fail. I am not the only one, go to garmins webite support and many are complaining about the same thing

Good function, no backlight on display

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The unit has a number of useful functions (HR, steps, distance, calories burned). The pairing with Garmin Connect is easy. However this model has no backlight for the LCD display. There is no way to read the display in a less than bright environment. Will return.

Thank you for providing feedback about your Vivosmart HR Activity Tracker. The Vivosmart HR does have a backlight. A tap of the screen or button will activate the backlight. You might want to try increasing the brightness of the backlight to improve viewing at night. If your device does indeed not have a backlight functioning please reach out to Garmin Support (www.garmin.com/support). ^SJT Garmin

HR monitor doesn't work when you sweat !

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Not very good! I have been wearing this for three days now and I was very excited to use it. Today was the first day I went for a run and as soon as I started sweating the heart rate monitor wouldn't work correctly. I was fifteen mins into my run and my heart should have been about 115 and I looked down at my display and it said 80, so I was like well this blows, let's see what happens. I paid attention to it the whole time I ran and it would jump from 80 to 90 and back down to 70 . When I got back I took it off dried off my wrist and the underside of it and wouldn't you know it it went up to 90 then started reading my heart rate correctly and went into the 100 and stayed there and I watched it read my heart rate as my heart slowed down. $145.00 dollars for a heart rate monitor that doesn't work correctly when you sweat!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m sorry to hear that sweat caused your vívosmart HR to display inaccurate heart rate information.

The vívosmart HR has an optical heart rate sensor that uses LED lights to illuminate through your skin to measure changes in light as a result in blood flow through your vessels and capillaries. In order to estimate an accurate heart rate, these LED lights must be kept free of dirt, water, and sweat, and the device must be worn in a fashion that does not allow it to slide up and down your wrist. A snug fit above your wrist bone should be sufficient and should help keep water and sweat away from the optical heart rate sensor. However, you should avoid wearing the device too tight because this can result in the restriction of blood flow which could potentially affect the performance of the sensor.

If you continue experiencing trouble or would like additional assistance, please reach out to Garmin Customer Care using the contact information listed here: www.garmin.com/support

Again, thank you so much for your feedback. (KS) Garmin

Bought for Heart Rate - Disappointed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had a Garmin Vivosmart for about a year and had been very satisfied. I used the chest strap to get heart rate and calories when exercising. I purchased the Vivosmart HR two weeks ago, primarily because you didn't need the chest strap to get heart rate throughout the day. Unfortunately this product has been failing me when I need it the most (during intensive exercise). I think it has been relatively accurate through normal to moderate activities but if you plan on high intensity exercise and sweating, it seems to be failing to capture accurate heart rate. I tried the big bulky basis model about two years ago and had similar results. Hopefully a product will come out that is accurate for HR data while doing all levels of activity. Unfortunately, this is not it.

Strap size is WAY SMALLER for men then Regular

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is made in two sizes. Regular and XL. But Regular should be Small and XL should be Regular to XL. The straps are not replaceable. Rubber straps eventually break. If I get two years out of a thicker and tougher dive strap (I do not dive), I am lucky. When this one breaks, who knows what you are supposed to do. Unless you are a small man, get the XL for sure. BUT, most retailers do not sell the XL. I do not think BB has the XL for sale! I returned mine.

    Buyer beware

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy this tracker it does not track heart rate properly. I read the instructions and tried several workouts. Every time it would go to a very low heart rate at high intensity. Harmon needs to add an option for a chest strap with this tracker.

    Disappointed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had always wanted a Garmin and decided to purchase this one and was disappointed that it was not accurately tracking my runs. I run with a group and several other watches tracked our run at 4 miles while my Garmin tracked it at 3.19 miles. This happened often. I followed steps to create a custom stride and it was still inaccurate. A walk up my street, which is approximately 800 steps clocked it at 7 steps! My employer pays me for my steps and due to the inaccurate count I did not earn the money I should have earned. I'm sad and disappointed because I can't return this and now I'm stuck with a watch that doesn't do what it should.

      Hello Holly,

Thank you for the review of the vívosmart HR. The device is designed to use the natural arm motion while walking or running to track steps. We also recommend users put in a custom stride length, as you indicated, to calibrate the device so that it will track the distance as accurately as possible. It is unusual for the vívosmart HR to not track steps while walking when the arm is swinging in a natural motion. There may be instances where the arm is not swinging that could cause the device to no track steps. For more information an examples please use the following FAQ: https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/KJxg2r3MDQ6yc79GXbMnb5.

Garmin Customer Care would also love to assist and troubleshoot any device that is not tracking steps correctly. Please visit www.garmin.com/support to find email and phone contact information. Thanks again for the review. -JFH Garmin

Received this as a gift from my wife. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get it to sync with my Galaxy S6. Not sure if it is the app itself or the device. I was able to pair it with my phone, but no data will come through.

Thank you for your review on your Garmin vívosmart HR. We are sorry to hear your device has encountered some difficulties.

Regarding the difficulty with pairing with your Samsung Galaxy S6, we would encourage you to visit the Garmin FAQ link below to help address this.

Garmin FAQ title: Why won't my vivosmart pair or stay connected to my Garmin Connect Mobile Android app?

Regarding the situation where it did not transfer any data, there may be a few factors that can contribute to this. However, in some rare cases the Garmin Connect servers could be down for brief period of time, which will prevent the transfer of data.

I like the Vivosmart HR, it was a very nice product but unfortunately after owning the strap for 6 months the strap broke while exercising. I looked everywhere for a replaceable strap and eventually called Garmin to find out that they do not sell replacement straps. Garmin then gave me the option to have the entire device replaced for more than half retail price. I would not recommend purchasing this product, Garmin does not cover any damages to device and does not provide any options for simple fixes. I would recommend other active watches, such as Fitbit or Apple
