Nice for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared this to Fitbit's offerings before I purchased. This was only option at this price point that I could take into the pool. I really like the Garmin app's features. Also sends phone notifications to the watch. Too bad it doesn't connect to Google fit. HR+ adds GPS and will track you're routes. This is an older device now (mid-2018), so get it on sale or discounted compared with Garmin's newer activity trackers. Nice alternative if you don't need full Android Wear watch.

Great for everyday use, +Windows Phone compatible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great device for the casual observer. It gathers all of the information that a regular person wants (as opposed to the person trying out for the Olympics). The light weight, comfortable band, and sleek design makes the Vivosmart HR barely noticeable on your wrist. Fortunately, you can swim and shower with this device, so forgetting that it's on your wrist AFTER it gets wet will eliminate that stress. Pairing with any smart phone in a breeze. Being able to read the FULL text message was the determining feature over other similar devices/brands. The screen has great readability in direct sunlight. The only draw back is that in medium light situations (such as indoors), the back-lighting may wash out the screen, which actually makes it harder to read. Also, those of us over 40 (read: Presbyopia) will have difficulty reading the screen in anything less than direct sunlight. I do plan on getting a smartwatch. Fortunately, Garmin Connect not only allows you to sync multiple devices, it lets you prioritize the device that you use most AND it will merge the data from all devices.

Great watch!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my Garmin watch! It does everything I want it to and its so easy to use! This model doesn't have GPS capability, so if you want that then spend the extra $60 and get the "+" version. Totally worth it!

Heart rate monitoring, steps, stairs climbed, sleep monitor feature. It sets goals for you automatically based on your previous day's performance. Great monitor for the price.

Better than Fitbit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had two Fitbit Charge HRs. One had the button fall off and stopped synching with the app, so I asked for a replacement. The replacement fell apart at the seams and eventually the display faded and disappeared. I had each of them for less than a year. And I always felt I was getting way too much credit in my steps. I just have a hard time believing that it takes me 225 steps to get from my bedroom to my coffeemaker in the morning. I live in a single-family home, not Buckingham Palace. I've had the Garmin Vivosmart HR for about six weeks. It's built more solidly, seems more accurate in its counting stats, and feels more secure. The interface is more robust and offers more features, as well, such as prompting me for software updates, alerting me when it's out of range from my phone, and controlling things that Fitbit makes you open the app for (unit conversion to Metric, switching to 12h vs Military clock mode, etc). Among the cleverer features is a "find my phone from my wrist" alarm when said phone inevitably falls victim to my cats' pranks. And since I can initiate the app synch from the Vivosmart, I'm not out of luck if the app isn't synched when the phone is hiding in the couch cushions. I know, I know. Fitbit is the trendy brand name, all your friends have one, and you can connect socially through it. If that's more important to you than accurate and reliable fitness tracking, by all means, keep going back to the Fitbit well. But there's a better option out there.

Great buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A little bulky for my liking but overall it's nice. Works as stated but the memory it storeseems needs to be cleared from phones memory to often in order for the app to update. It has some really nice features though such as starting and stopping your music wirelessly ignoring and viewing calls from across the room. Oh the activity tracker works pretty well too. It's better than my fitbit

Much better quality than Fitbit HR+
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my first wearable which was a fitbit hr+ in Jan 2016, since then I have had problems with them 4 times. Bottom line, they are disposable. If you sweat or wear outside a lot the material falls apart or the electronics begin to fail. Fit bit sent me 3 replacements fine thanks for that. But then I bought this one on Black Friday thinking why not. The band is made of much better quality, the material is more silicone feeling and lighter. The screen is touch and you get SO much more info on it than the fit bit. Weather, text messages (plural) iphone music controls, etc and its WATERPROOF! And for about the same price. This is the low cost wearable to get if you don't want GPS (they have a GPS version too, but no experience with it). I've been very happy with it and highly recommend it. The app is good as well just a lot of info and on that FitBit does a little better, but not worth it for the difference in quality. One star off only because the touch screen doesnt always work. But not bad and the fact you get a touch screen was another big bonus.

Great device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I shopped around and looked at several different trackers before purchasing. I settled on the Vivosmart HR because it had all of the features I needed and wanted, it's water resistant and it had the best reviews. It was also the most recommeneded by people I asked about trackers. I am extremely happy with it and it has been very accurate. I would definitely recommend this device.

Love It!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch does everything it says it will do. I purchased it for the sleep monitoring, steps and water resistance. I can shower with it. The battery last about 3 days with the settings I have on it. I am using the daily alarm. I found when I used the other notifications the battery did not last as long. I am VERY happy with it.

Has very feature that other versions don't have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main thing with this is the features, heart rate, weather forecast, music player controls, email, text,,Facebook etc notifications plus several other settings and functions. Compared to others similarly priced that I had looked at always came up short, i.e notification display but no heart rate moniter or one with a heart rate moniter didnt have live weather forecst display etc highly recommend this version, built sturdy, comfortable and the tracking software is extremely comprehensive .

Great activity monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The garmin vivosmart hr is pretty cool. It tracks hr, steps, floors climbed, distance and activity as well text notifications and alerts, though initially floors climbed didn't seem to be accurate all the time. It's easy to use and the battery lasts like 2 days. It was a good purchase for the price.

Half baked product, bad wrist rash after 2 weeks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me say that I got a bad wrist rash (see the attached picture) after wearing the product for only 2 weeks or so. Since then I washed it manually multiple times and I put it also through the dish washer, hoping that whatever chemicals the band was releasing would go away... it didn't seem to have helped at all. That is a pity, considering similar issues that have affected some fitbits in the past and that should have pushed Garmin to choose very carefully what materials they use to manufacture their bands, to avoid similar mishaps... Now for the product itself all that I can say is that it behaves very much like a half baked product rushed to the market. The hardware might have some interesting capabilities but the software is nowhere close to be ready for prime time. Just an example, activity alerts don't take into account the overall level of daily activity, but only what happened in the last hour or so. The ridiculous part is that I've got a "Move" alert after about an hour of finishing a marathon two weeks ago. Really? For something that is supposed to be an activity tracker? Who knows, maybe future firmwares would clear some of these issues, or maybe not. Instead Garmin could do more of the same, which is put new products on the market that are supposed to deal with the failures of the previous ones. I'm sorry but I can't recommend it at this point.

Posted .Thank you for your time to review the vívosmart HR. We’d like to address some issues you’ve had with the band. If you’ve received rashes from the band it’s possible these conditions can still be avoided by following the tips:
• Dry the device and skin after exposure to water or sweat
• Ensure that soap is thoroughly rinsed from the skin and the device when showering
• Keep the skin in this area clean and dry
• Loosen the device to allow air to circulate and dry the skin
• Discontinue use of the device temporarily, or move it to the other wrist
Everyone’s biology is different so results may vary. In regards to the activity tracking we’d love for you to share your ideas with our engineer team so they can consider possible changes in the future for move alerts. Please visit the following link to submit that idea:
