We bought this for my father-in-law. Works great, although he had to take it back and get a larger size. The band itself runs a bit small.

I love this HR monitor because it can get wet while I am swimming. I wanted to check my heart rate when I swim and it is easy to do so with this HR monitor. I wear it all the time.

Garmin website says the the Vivosmart HR is available in 2 sizes from regular to X-Large. However the item can only be purchased from Best Buy in regular size. Neither the Best Buy or the Garmin Rep would provide any useful help in obtaining the XL(Black) size device so I just stretch the band to fit in the first notch. Limits the wearability location. Unit does take some trail and error to finally use all of the features. Manual is sketchy,

Seems to work better and has better functions than the Fitbit have been very happy with the product except for the band but that's only because I'm allergic to nickel.

Deciding factors between this and a Fitbit were its water resistance and overall accuracy. Owned a vivofit prior to this so upgraded in order to have a heart rate monitor and notifications.

The fitness tracker seems accurate. Good reminders to "move" if sitting too long. Best is that it vibrates with phone calls or texts and can see notification on wrist

I am writing this after having owned and worn the Vivosmart HR + for over 2 months. Unlike Fitbits, of which I went through 3 in a little over a year due to various ways of then breaking through normal wear & use, it seems quite durable & due to the way it is constructed, not likely to just fall apart. The device seems to fairly accurately measure. The only weakness is with the Garmin app (Android). I have no idea why they can not just tell you how many calories you burned in a day in that app. It's in the band - it should be in the app. Anyway, I don't feel that should be counted against the band since the band does gather that piece of data.

Bought this on a good sale over the holidays. Not for its clunky profile, but because it seemed to have good features for the price. Overall it seems to work pretty well, but not perfectly. Actually, it worked better out of the box than it does now after its first firmware update! Now it seems to be about 75% reliable in detecting stair climbs, and it seems to require more steps than a typical floor in order to be counted. It also auto-senses activities incorrectly at times (like detecting a bicycle ride when i am not...) and doesn't sense when I am actually cycling. And unfortunately the exercise selections on the device do not include cycling for some reason! The software app does not always connect automatically via Bluetooth, but I don't know if that's my tablet or what. Turning Bluetooth off and back on lets it connect and synch. The device is thicker than most, and as a result it's sometimes uncomfortable while sleeping but not in a big way. The display is easy to read and gives good basic data and allows fixing it on a heart rate display while exercising. Only complaint here is also with the software update, which basically ruined the heart rate chart. It now looks like a straight line, even when there is a broad range of heart rates shown. The original chart at least showed the difference between the highs and lows. Hoping for another software fix! The app also allows for a lot of data entry, notes, etc. if you want to add details to your activities and it has some data-sharing features that I don't use so can't comment on those.

I was looking for a product that would simply track steps and HR. I was considering another well known fitness tracker type watch until I compared it to the Garmin. I have found the tracking info easy to use, understand, and it motivates me to do more activities. I was using a very simple type of HR, steps tracker but when it stopped working I went to the Garmin. I just wish I did not have to charge it so often.

Bought this for my wife. She is a Zumba and Body Combat instructor and now she can measure the intensity of her workouts. She is also happy looking at her daily steps, and being able to sync the Garmin platform with Myfitness pal. Heart rate is pretty accurate something she was not getting with the Fitbit.

Pros: Nice features, find my phone, sync weather app, answer call (no talking just accept or decline calls), and great phone app to track and record your activity. Picked it up on Black Friday for an awesome $69, well worth it! Cons: can be uncomfortable at times especially during sleep. I remove mine now before going to bed. A little bulky and sits tall. Monochrome screen looks dated, color would make this a 5!

Gave this to my husband for his birthday, and overall he has been very happy with it. A couple of observations: he wishes he had a "second counter" on the clock--not just hours and minutes; also one day he rode his motorcycle the 5 miles into work and it indicated he had done 10 flights of stairs. Hmm. Other than that, it's been great--holds a charge well, syncs great with his iPhone app. Very pleased with this choice.

Loaded app and watch synced seamlessly with my IPhone. I've used MapMyWalk for fitness purposes and wanted a device to use without having to always take my phone. This device fits the bill. The only feature I wished this device had was the ability to play music. No worries as I'll upgrade, probably within the Garmin family, sometime in the near future. Great battery life and fun to use! Highly recommend!

This fitness tracker is sleek and useful. With a thinner band it fits comfortably. The all black design is attractive. The touch screen is very responsive. The options to control your music, check the weather and read notifications are all pluses. This is a great fitness tracker as it does a lot for a decent price. The app that comes with it is decent but can be improved on hopefully in the near future.
