We apologize for the confusion. We feel it is important to point out that we do not advertise this product as a sound bar. As the manufacturer, to alleviate misinformation, we provide specifically in the listing spec section that Best Buy provides for all our product listing that this is an Antenna and not a sound bar as well as in our bullet points at the top of the product title.
This antenna receives, filters, and amplifies signals for superior performance. It works with all TV and converter box brands, and within 60 miles of the broadcast source. Antenna reception range is based on a line of sight signal path from the TV broadcast towers to your home. Several factors can limit reception range at your location. Some of these are mountainous and hilly terrain, obstructions in the signal path and metal construction materials. Position your antenna towards the broadcast towers for best performance.
We are unsure of your reference to the bar constantly going off, causing you to turn it back on, as this product does not come with an On/Off Switch.

Best way to experience TV

We do like to watch the local news and that comes in even better than it did with cable. The picture is vastly improved. We stream movies from Roku when we want to see a particular show or movie.

Does an okay job

It was great packaging, a name brand and it claimed it was a "premium" product, which I assumed meant "built to last and work best". So, while other antennas at Best Buy made similar claims and were selling for $39 - $59 depending on their reach - I got this one. Also, I wanted the "sound bar" look. Depending on the time of day though, I have to move it high or low, all around. I previously paid $50 for an Antenna Direct and frankly, get better reception. Never have to move it around as I do the GE.
