Great features that let others contact me quickly

I picked up the Gear 2 Neo as a way to stay in touch with my messages and be able to contact people back quickly. One of my main ways to communicate with family and work is through text, but I'm too busy to check my phone continually. If I was able to leave my phone ringer on, this would be no problem, but working with customers requires the ringer to be silenced. I was in need of a solution. The Gear 2 Neo works splendid for what I needed. I never miss a text from family or work anymore and I can even respond quickly using voice-to-text. The down side to that is that I look like Dick Tracy to anyone watching. I tend to do this in private. The built in response offers options of "canned messages" to be able to respond without talking to your watch. There are many additional features I really like. I enjoy the speaker phone right from my wrist. This is very handy while driving to facilitate quick calls to tell people I'm on the way and such. The pedometer is handy since I don't like having my phone on me at work. There's even some fun ones like a TV remote for when the kids lose the remote. The Samsung app store has a few offerings for downloadable apps which are easy to install and tend to be one or two dollars. I highly recommend this for people that want to stay in touch with their phone but not be seen doing so.

A Needed Accessory for People on the Go

Always knew what this watch would do, but Didn't realize its full potential till I bought it. I needed a Watch that would Monitor Heart Rate, it became an added bonus to get a watch that also gave you alerts and reminders. At first I thought it was only going to Alert me with Text messages, and maybe Worked with Samsung Email App. I was blown away by seeing that it can alert you with notifications from many many apps. From Your Gmail App, Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, and Anything else. I was really amazed when I found out that it can also deliver Google Now Notifications. Which really puts it close to what an Android Wear Watch will do. I was also debating between this and Android Wear. Ended up going with the Gear 2 Since Android Wear is not yet developed. It is in the early stages, and make take a while before it has fully reached it's potential. Plus, I wasn't sure how integrated the Android Wear operating system will be with the phone. Since this is a Samsung OS and Samsung Watch, it is pretty well integrated with the phone. You can even use S voice to make notes, set reminders, and Make calls. Battery Life was same as I had been told. On a General Use case, a full charge will last you 2-3 days. I have been using it for 2 full days since my last charge, and I have still 45% to go. Also, The watch Integrates with the S Health App on the Phone. With that you can track your exercises and Diet all in the same App. If you are into fitness and are on a calorie counting diet, this is for you. In summary, Absolutely Amazing watch. Does everything it says, and more. No Complaints whatsoever. Screen is responsive, the Operating System is fast with no lags. You would think you can not use it well if you have big hands, but you would be surprised. Would recommend to anyone who is needing to stay in touch, and wants to track their fitness.

Extremely DISAPPOINTED!! At the start of my Half Marathon the battery was fully charged at 100%, Battery life didn't even last 2 hours before it died and shut down. I was running the GPS, MP3 player, & my Bluetooth headset all at the same time. I specifically purchased this to be used primarily for Half and Marathon races for tracking. can you imagine my surprise when it died despite the Samsung rep telling me it would run for 10 hours before needing to be recharged. Since I was within the return policy time limit I was able to return it for a full refund.

    Way Better Then Expected!

I consider myself to be a tech junkie. Currently I am using the Samsung Gear 2 Neo(Mocha Grey) paired up to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3(Black). I love love love this combo! This watch is doing what it's designed to do! The original Samsung Galaxy Gear was cool.... but didn't do anything I really wanted it to do. I kept seeing that they were going to fix it with the next update.... I was impatient and didn't want to wait for the update so I got rid of it. I said if they would fix the notifications, battery life, water resistance, and price... I would be game to try out the next generation. Well Samsung, you were listening and you nailed it! I love the fact that I can make a phone call or send out a text message with out pulling out my phone. The watch is light weight and I have seen where people are complaining about it being plastic and it looking cheaper... well when you want a cheaper price they have to do something to lower the price. But In my opinion they didn't do it poorly. As a matter of fact I really like how light weight it is and I'm not as worried about scratching the watch as I was when it was brushed steel. I haven't given the watch a fair chance with the battery life just yet to see how long I can make a charge last. But with the heavy usage I have put on it so far.... it's lasting like a champ for 2 full days! I had to at the end of the second day do everything I could to get the battery to wear down so I could charge it. The Gear 2 doesn't burn up the battery on my phone. I have hardly noticed any difference in my battery life on my phone. I have tried the Sony Smartwatch 2 and I will say that thing ate my battery life up on my phone and would kill it by lunch time! My phone is lasting all day like it usually does with just a normal bluetooth headset hooked up to it. The water resistance I haven't test to the full extent yet... but I can tell you I'm not afraid to wash my hands where I was with the Original Gear smart watch. I love the on board 4GBs to store music. Can play it on the watch with out using your phone. The speaker could be a touch louder.... but it is a watch. The Taizen operating system is so intuitive... honestly you would have a hard time knowing its not Android. Moving the home button to the top of the watch instead of it being on side like the original is big to me too. You don't accidentally bump the home button like the original. Thank you Samsung for listening! You nailed it and have set the path for everyone else trying to build a smart watch from here on out!

A great watch. I can get all my notifications on it like Evernote, Inbox for Gmail, Wunderlist, my calendar, all emails including work, all texts, and if you use Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat, you can get notified about those too. I can make and receive calls, I've downloaded a calculator, news app, I store a bunch of photos on it, it has a voice recorder, stopwatch, timer, and pedometer. Each of these have worked great so far. Battery life is about three days per charge. I use my phone half the time now.

Light, wearable, Does more than other Smartwatches

    Posted .

Nice! Light, very wearable, does more than any other Smartwatch. I am using the Gear 2, Neo with my Samsung Galaxy S4 (rooted with a custom KitKat rom) Setup was easy, once I downloaded Samsung's Gear Manager app from Playstore. Gear Manager had to update to work, and after that, the phone -watch sync was quick and solid. You will likely spend at least 15 minutes fiddling with the Gear manager. It is not complex, but not as straightforward as some apps either. After making selections in the program, most of the adjustments going forward will be on the watch. Still, some functions will always require the phone's Gear manager. I was surprised how light this watch is to wear. It is NOT bulky and not too big. (I normally don’t like to wear watches larger than 40mm). It has a very nice feel and fits well on the wrist. Nice wrist band. The screen is very readable and bright, sound seems fine unless you’re in a noisy crowd. In the two days I have tried almost every function: - Made and received phone calls and text messages. - Heartbeat monitor is accurate, except if you are moving around a lot. - Pedometer works well. - Received notifications nicely for all those apps that I let interrupt me (not many! Google Now, text msg, weather, a couple more) - Battery life seems very good. I used 39% in 18 hours of very heavy use. (I was almost constantly playing around with it, playing music, calls, texts, trying out all functions etc.). When I settle down and “just use” it, I am certain it will be even better. I notice that I have touched my phone about 60-75% less, both around the house and when I go out. - It is so convenient when calls come in now --I just look at the watch and either take them or discard. - Notifications are the same way, when they come in I glance and go --I don’t even stop what I am doing! - Since S-Voice is built into the watch, I can (and have) even do(ne) some searches without touching the phone. That’s quite handy and that’s why I wanted it. There are some downsides to this watch - - - #1. S-Health is a problem. - If you are using the “old” S Health (ver. 2.5) it won’t talk to the watch. You can search the web to find the new (Ver 3.0) S Health that was designed for the Galaxy S5 and try to load it on your phone (I did). If you can do that the S-Helath app and Neo work great together -watch data goes to phone for all activities. HOWEVER, all your prior in the cloud old S Health history is gone. (well, technically, it’s unavailable—even though it’s sitting on Samsung’s servers). S Health Ver 3.0 does NOT have the restore-backup function that the earlier functions have. So all your old S Health data from the web can’t be included. That is really, really annoying! - If you can't get/use S Helath30 don't worry. For all of us with “older” Samsung phones, we can download a free app called “Fitness with Gear” from Samsung. It’s pretty much the same as S Health for exercising! It works with Gear NEo and on the phone. They sync together ok as well. However Fitness with Gear seems to not have all the extras that S Health has. Also, I think you STILL can’t sync your old S Health account data with it (I need to check that). #2. Another downside (for me at least) to the Neo is the Sleep app…Where is it? My watch did not come with it! Perhaps I need to upgrade the software (I upgraded Gear manager to the latest already), and I have read that others either have it from purchase, or got it later. It’s just annoying. #3. Oh, the auto-on/wakeup feature is a bit sensitive. You simply lift you arm up a bit, and perhaps twist just a bit and the watch will turn on and display the time or last screen (your choice). Very convenient and it fits the natural motion of people looking at their watch. Except normal people raise their arms all the time -even when they are NOT looking at their watch. Unfortunately, the watch lights up ALL the time. At first it’s impressive and interesting to watch (sorry:-). It soon grows annoying,, however, so I turned off that function –and now the watch won't turn on just because I wave my hands or move my arms. I simply press the home button on the watch to see the time. The notifications still light up whenever the notifciation even occurs -this is different from checking the time, so that is a good amount of control. #4. Final bad (for all of us) is the total lack of applications. - OK, so this is NOT an Android watch. It’s a TIZEN watch. Looks and acts the same, except android apps won’t work. All those recent apps that some developer have written and that started to emerge for the first generation Galaxy Gear won’t work with this watch. - Right now, there are a handful of what I would describe limited use apps for this watch. (also, I don't mind paying for apps but paying a dollar for a basic calculator app?). This situation is not completely terrible, since all the basic functions ARE covered with Samsung’s built in apps; but anything extra is missing. - And while the current watch faces provided are ok, first generation gear uses have had hundreds of custom (android) watch styles to choose among. I miss that option. RECOMMENDATION: Overall, I would (yes) recommend this phone to any recent-model Samsung phone user. The downsides are annoying, but not deal breakers for me. The Neo is not quite stylish, but it is not ugly either. It’s kind of neutral, with a flat, utilitarian styled plastic design.

I did as the directions said and fully charged right out of the box. After 8 hours (only using the music player for an hour) the battery needed to be charged. Not sure if I got a defective unit or this is standard but this is definitely getting returned.

Best smart watch for my needs

I have truly enjoyed this watch. Was easy to connect to the Note 5. Callers cannot easily tell that I am answering the phone on the watch, so it seems like the microphone works well. I am not missing notifications even in crowded noisy places which I formerly would miss without the watch. The battery life is better than expected with light use and pretty much met expectations with frequent use. The minor drawbacks are the somewhat short Bluetooth range and the possible early corrosion issue of the charging pins that I have read on other reviews (I keep the pins covered with a bandage when wearing the watch and take off the watch before heavy exercise).

I ordered this watch to replace my Sony Smartwatch 2 that I had lost. After much research and questioning an employee that has this watch, I selected it. The reasons I picked it are, 1. ease of use, 2. style and looks (its not as fancy as my Smartwatch 2, but it looks nice), 3. you can make and receive calls and texts from it. I only use a smartwatch to monitor calls and texts not as a fitness item and this watch does a great job at both and 4. the price was excellent compared to newer models that do less.. After I received the Neo 2, I found my smartwatch 2... so, I now wear my sony for formal and my neo 2 for everyday. Calls sound great both ways and texts are easily read (even with my inability to see close without glasses). I recommend the samsung gear neo 2 to anyone who wants a smartwatch.

The S-voice sometimes doesn't pick up the commands and you have to repeat the command (sometimes over and over again). Other than that, it's perfect. I didn't need a camera so I went with the Neo 2. I could NOT be happier in receiving this as a gift for Christmas. I'm searching the web for apps and more are comng out every month....I'm excited to get them installed and in use. Another great Samsung product that works fabulously with my Samsung Note 4 and Galaxy Tab 4.

So far after 2 weeks, I have no complains. Easy to use, set-up. The battery life I have seen is about 2 - 3 days depending on the number of notifications you get and if you turn the motion on for the screen. The only thing I noticed that was truly lacking was any real nice watch faces. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot, but just not a lot of really nice ones. I am still learning about this thing, and know you can design your own, just haven't really had the time to sit and do this.

Has neat features (great if you don't need the camera, that's much more expensive), but if mainly using it for exercise and health there are cheaper, better options out there that also aren't as intrusive since this is rather large on your wrist. I do like how you can customize the strap, even putting a steel band on. A screen protector is recommended.
