Good multi purpose watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I don't like about it, but it's not that big of a deal, is you have to tell the watch when you are going to sleep and when you are getting up.

Not the perfect Smartwatch, but a solid one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nobody really needs a smartwatch, but if wearables are something you want to dive into then you’ll be hard pressed to find a better watch than the Neo to do so. At a retail of $150 it’s $100 cheaper than it’s metal brother the Gear 2, and less than half the price of an entry level Applewatch. It may not have as many apps available as the Android Wear or Apple smartwatches have, but it still has a great interface and a better battery life than 90% of the aforementioned watches. I get roughly 2 days battery life from it (that’s a literal 48 hours, not 2 ‘work’ days) which puts it underneath the crazy 7 day battery of the Pebble watches, and more than twice the battery life of all other watches save a few like the Sony Smartwatch 3. It gives me the notifications I choose and helps keep my phone away from my face, and it’s pretty cool to be able to call and talk to someone directly from my watch when I need my hands free or if I’m driving (I believe the Applewatch is the only other smartwatch with a built-in speaker.) Although it may seem like a novelty, the IR blaster feature is great when I can’t find my remote or if it’s out of reach. Those 3 factors are the main reason I can deal without the app selection of an Android Wear watch, most of those apps are just remote apps for the apps on your phone anyways. Not a lot of standalone capabilities unless you get a separate plan with a watch like the Gear S (although you can store music and games on the Neo.) The Neo looks great with a different watch band too, the Gear 2 looks even moreso when paired with a metal band, and although there could be more there’s still a good selection of watch faces available. Anything but the stock watch faces drain battery way faster however, which makes the 2 day battery life of the Neo even more handy (non-stock watch faces tend to drain battery on most smartwatches.) With all those features the Neo is a steal at this price, I think the only other watch that can compete is the Moto 360 but I can't wear a watch that won't at least last a full 24 hours before charging. I've only had it a couple of months so time will tell of it's durability (it did survive two rainy weeks walking in Japan) and long-term usefulness, but I'm satisfied so far. I haven't used the Heart rate monitor, although it has gotten bad reviews since you basically have to remain perfectly still to try and get an accurate reading. But although it has that feature and an adequate pedometer, this is not the watch to get if you're looking for a fitness tracker. Instead, it combines the general health features of one, has the next best battery life to the Pebble watch, and makes up for it's lack of apps with a built-in speaker, IR blaster and clean interface. This is a great smartwatch to have if you have a compatible Samsung phone, and will definitely tide you over until the next generation or two of smartwatches come out.

Not a must-have but still worth it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros-it's just cool. Not a necessity by any means, but it IS cool, useful, and works well. Nice display, decent but not great battery life (I get two days max out of a charge), charges quickly though. I like that you can replace the band with any 'regular' watch band, as it's inevitable the band will need to be replaced. Cons-the charging 'block' does not have an integrated battery like the Gear S, which would be so much more convenient and give you more flexibility. Speaker not loud enough, makes using as a phone pretty useless, but if you're in a very quiet area, it's ok. You need to connect to a computer to put any pictures on the device...a pain even if you HAVE a computer, which I do not. Limited apps available, and most free ones are nothing to write home about. And finally, Samsung could give you a lousy screen protector, having blown $200.00 on this. It wouldn't kill them. Summary-personally, it's NOT a must-have...unless you're a tech junkie like me! I am overall very happy with this and will soon purchase the Gear S. This is a 'big boy toy' but so what! The pedometer works great, as does the sleep monitor, though the heart rate monitor is finicky but works well when it works. Hopefully they make a women's size as my wife would like one for the pedometer function. If you have $200.00 and want to see what time it is, you won't be disappointed.

Q: QuestionStandalone and Phone-Based music player specifics? The specs say yes, but it isn't clear that you can store the songs on the phone and play them from there. I want to do this when I can't have the phone turned on, such as on an airplane or where I can't take my phone while working. The latter case is why I like that the Neo doesn't have its own camera. Besides a standalone music mode, if supported, does the watch also allow phone-based music streaming from an internet-service and/or music stored locally on the phone -- for when I want to listen to a wider library of songs? Thanks!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer This does have a 4gb storage for you to place all your favorite songs. You do not always need your phone to listen to music with this device.

Q: QuestionDoes this track sleep patterns?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer it tracks what is recorded as motionless sleep and gives you the percentage of your total sleep time that has been motionless. You have to manually activate both start and finish of sleep time.

Q: QuestionCan you change the band?If so, does it have to be a Samsung product or is it compatible with a regular watch band?
Asked by M.
- A:Answer Pretty sure it has to be a samsung product, or a band designed for Samsung Gear Watches. A regular watch band won't work. The band doesn't screw on, it has a retractable bar (kind of like a toilet paper holder; spring keeps it long, but you can retract it to remove it). You pull the end of the bar to unlatch it.

Q: QuestionHow accurate is the heart rate monitor and step tracker?I am really looking for a device that tells the time, tracks my steps, and heart rate. Would you consider this product pretty accurate when it comes to those features? Thank you.
Asked by Mel.
- A:Answer I bought this as a gift for my dad for Father's Day. So far he said the heart rate monitor works great and for the most part is pretty accurate. He has tried it while resting and working out as well as testing it out on other people and he says it works very well. However, he doesn't think the step counter is accurate at all. He walks/runs on the treadmill everyday which also keeps track of the distance and they are never close to coming out the same or even near to each other. He has even tried using an app on his phone that is similar and they never coincide either.
