    Terrible service

    Oh boy, I first scheduled an appointment on line to bring my computer in to get a basic graphics card install. I took my computer to the store and then had to wait another 20 minutes to fill out a bunch of paperwork. squad had my computer for three days. Did I say THREE days. So, I get a text saying my computer is finished. I get there and they tell me they couldn't fix it. Is it procedure to not call and tell customers that they can't fix it before they have it for 3 days. On top of that. The guy that was supposed to be helping me was completely rude like I was inconvenienceing him because I asked him what needed to be done. Geek squad sucks! I'll never ever ever take anything to that company every again. I'm greatly dissatisfied.

    horrible service. I cancelled work and travel plans to accommodate a scheduled appt I made online in advance for TV mounting. Received only an email 45 minutes before the appointment to reschedule. I called and they informed me that there was no appt scheduled. I proceeded to ask them then how did I get a confirmatory email of the date and time of my appointment and an email that morning to reschedule if the appt never existed. Crickets at that point. I then spoke to the supervisor named Davis out of the Georgia call center and basically received the same comments. Their solution was to re-schedule another appt to next available which would be a week later.

    Installing a wall mount

    Don’t waste your time with geek squad and if I could give them 0 stars then I would.I scheduled a appt. for geek squad online and paid for my tv to be mounted on the wall. My appt was 8am-noon time frame and I waited until 1230 and decided to call and find out why no one showed up. It took about 15 mins to talk with someone and she was really rude saying that I cancelled but on end it doesn’t say that...I call corporate and they were no help.corporate did say that it looks like you didn’t cancel but something happened on our end but oh well wow that’s so rude. I’m so disappointed and wasted my day waiting for someone that never showed up. Not even a simple I’m sorry so sad!

    3RD VISIT 3 MONTHS job is still incomplete.

    Surveillance Cameras, reinstall & clean up wiring. Work not complete after 2 site surveys, Geek squad left telling me the would call back the next day. -no call bak -did not answer my calls -interest access point disconnected after geek squad service? - went into store for help. -geek squad not able to come back to fix internet for 3 weeks? -poor service with no help to fix their mistake? -surveillance cameras not working? Monitor cannot view cameras after Geek squad changed passwords? Unhappy with Geek Squad their left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing from Geek Squad call center to installers there is a huge disconnect? I'd be better off hiring private contractors who would get the job done right.

    Disappointed

    I left my laptop over 3 weeks ago for repair, on the first got a call saying my laptop was ready for pick up, the laptop wasn’t in the store, the person at th store called the technicians and they said the laptop was on the way to the store, long story short, the laptop is not at the store yet and the answer I have is that my laptop is waiting for the part to arrive yet and it’s not fixed, I went to the store for nothing, I got told the wrong information about my laptop, now I don’t know when or if my laptop will be fixed, customer service is very inefficient, I don’t recommend it to anyone.

    Awful

    Use them at your own risk! $262.00 later and a broken external hard later I still came home with the same broken computer. After 5 visits and checking it in 3 times because it was "fixed" the other 2 times it's still broke. Maybe they could explain upfront the only thing they do and know how to do is try to reload the operating system to fix it. If that doesnt work your out of luck and money. Will never go back to them, recommend them or step foot in a Best Buy ever again!

    Stay away from Microsoft Office Purchase

    No Support! I purchased MS Office through Geek Squad last year and recently received an upgrade notice. When I logged on to chat with a representative, the person I connected with had ZERO idea how to deal with my request. He instead referred me to Microsoft, and then said that Microsoft could not help me. I simply wanted to know which computer was registered as using that particular license. Most annoying part was the constant apologizing, which is only helpful if there is a solution. Complete waste of my time. Only rainbow on this cloud was I was able to get my money back! I'd rather deal directly with Microsoft.

    Terrible Install Service

    Don't use Best Buy Geek Squad to install any Ring devices - we've lost power in a section of our house and the "not my problem" scenario is frustrating to say the least. Seems when you hire the Geek Squad, you don't actually hire them and they can't handle issues - sheesh at least Lowe's and home depot make it very clear before you engage that they aren't responsible for the contractor. Best Buy told us this info only after the problem. Referred to claims co who doesn't follow through on comms, installer company hired by BBY doesn't take responsibility and tells me THEY are the claims co and now we have to find our own electrician and pay MORE to fix the problem they created

    Worst customer service

    I purchased an IPhone 8 through Best Buy and also signed up for apple care through Best Buy which in turn is Geek Squad. I called tonight to use the plan that I have been paying for nearly a year now to have my screen repaired. Not only does no one there speak clear English, but when you ask for a supervisor or someone else so you can understand them, they nearly refuse to allow you to do so. When finally reaching someone higher after a 45 minute wait, I was talked down to and nothing was resolved. I will NEVER use geek squad for future purchases and suggest no else does if they want to keep their sanity.

    Horrible Customer Service

    My Geek Squad covered laptop started losing battery life and under my protection plan it gets one free replacement. So I took it into the store and they ordered a battery to be delivered to my home. A couple of weeks go by and I call to get the battery and they tell me the order was complete. Since I don't have the battery I asked them when it was delivered and they said there is no tracking number on it like there should be but it shows complete. After 20 mins on the phone pushing to confirm the part was actually ordered the rep said I should give it another week or so and then call back. So I said why don't we do today what you plan on doing in another week when it doesn't come, and I call back. So then she tells me to talk to the store and disconnects me.

    Way too expensive !!!!!!

    I must say that the work completed in mounting a tv and sound bar was fine and looks good but beware of the cost. After everything was mounted and wires were installed behind the walls I was only then told that the additional cost over and above the mounting charge of $350.00 was another $250.00 !!! Please do your homework and get other quotes from other companies. To mount a tv and hide the wires should definitely not cost $600.00 !!!!

    Could not help

    My older, but high end Dell (I-7) would not power up. I took it to the Downers Grove, IL store and talked to the Geek squad. They said it was either the power supply or mother board, but they could not fix it. "We don't do motherboards". They suggested I look around the store for a new computer since mine was unrepairable. Looking for a second opinion I took it to a local mom and pop computer store front. They replaced both the power supply and motherboard and fixed it for the total cost of $200. I had it back in two days and am typing this review on it. I don' know if the rep I dealt with was not competent or shilling to get me to buy a new computer from Best Buy, but this whole thing was very disappointing.

    My experience was terrible Last year I bought a computer at Best Buy. Geek Squad where to install software. It took 2 days, no calls, and possible to get hold of anyone and then when I did get a call to pick up the computer, it was not ready. After much back-and-forth I cancelled the Geek Squad as everything had to be redone by someone else. They also lost the power cord to my original computer. They kept my credit card on file and despite requests not to, and I've just come back to a build for annual renewal. You can't even easily get hold of anyone on the phone. Never again for Best Buy or Geek Squad for me.

    Misdiagnosed/failed to fix simple hard drive issue

    I bought the 24/7 service plan when I bought a new computer. My old computer wasn’t booting from the hard drive, and I thought it was worth the money to have “experts” transfer my data off the old drive. Instead, after waiting 24 hrs, I got a call that given the age of my HD, nothing could be done to get my data (but for a couple hundred dollars more, perhaps a higher tech service could rescue something). I brought the computer home, popped in the Windows XP disk to boot ‘er up, & from the DOS command prompt, ran CHKDSK. Fixed!!! Goodness knows what the Geek Squad tried; whatever it was, it was not the obvious basic fix. Bottom line: I would not trust them to reliably assess or fix an older computer. If I were less tech savvy, I could easily have paid up to $500 to get data off a hard drive that they said was in very poor shape, when all it needed was a very simple repair.

      I apologize in advance for any issues you faced while attempting to fix your hard drive. When we take in a hard drive for possible data backup or recovery, the hard drive goes through a variety of different scans and hardware analysis in order to verify its integrity. If any of these fail, then it is generally advised that the hard drive be sent for a deeper recovery process. While CHKDSK can temporarily fix bad sectors on a hard drive, these fixes aren't always reliable and are merely a band aid to the bigger problem. This is why these "easier" fixes are generally not done as they can result in repeat issues and further enhancing any underlying issues which, when left unfixed, can result in permanent data loss or at best a much more difficult (and more expensive) recovery process. This is further exacerbated with age.

    Nothing but problems

    I have had nothing but problems with Geek Squad and Best Buy. This is very unfortunate since I have more products to buy, but won't be buying them from there. The Geek Squad tech support was unknowledgeable and unable to help me. Also, they wanted my computer password to log into my computer. Who in this day and age would give there password out over the phone? In addition, service from a third party installer has been horrendous. I have spoken with management 3 times at the store, and to date, no one has been able to rectify the problems.

    I had a broken stove and the burners were not working. The person who was supposed to fix it came 3 times on the same day, and never finished the job. I will never buy geek squad support again. I would not recommend this service.

    Knightdale Geek Squad is a waste of money!

    Not only did I pay 214 for the SCAM that is Geeks squads year technical support but I was charged 91.00 for a new hard drive and they didn’t tell me they’d delete EVERYTHING off my computer all important files lost. I was called well over 8 times. One employee tried to sell me a hard drive for about 180 before I questioned what hard drive was actually in the computer. I have my old hard drive I’ll take it to someone that can do a job right the first time. Then the employee continued to ask me multiple times if I would let them try (emphasis on try) to get the data from my old hard drive for like 70 dollars. You do the math. What a waste of money. I am a self sufficient young adult putting myself through college I refuse to waste my time and money.

    Did not fix any problems

    I am a college student and am constantly using my laptop. The laptop I own is a certified refurbished HP Spectre. Unfortunately, I received the laptop and there was a defect in it. My internet connection will periodically go in and out. When I told the Geek Squad member about this issue, he said it was "an easy fix" and assured me their service could restore my laptop. I paid $200 for the Geek Squad service last year and nothing they did helped. After about two months, and two times of letting Geek squad try to fix my laptop, I asked for a refund, but they said they could not do this. I would not recommend Geek Squad to anyone. They don't fix problems, and they are not very helpful at all. I would have been better off purchasing a new laptop.
