UTTER GARBAGE DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UTTER GARBAGE! I have the entire house attached with google mini’s, the kitchen display, chrome, nest thermostats, and a nest doorbell. Needed to add a security camera into the mix, so I go to Best Buy and get this gem of a paperweight. Best Buy is awesome, they have NO fault in this, other than trusting Google like we do, to deliver a quality product. Their products are already overpriced IMO, but I like the Nest Aware and it’s a good looking product. Nest Aware holds your video for 60 days and there are a lot of neat AI things. I know by itself it only records THREE HOURS! Which is stupid because if someone breaks into your car at night…. 3 hours has gone and your overpriced camera is worthless. What the heck is the point of even having a camera then? So you got an event, but don’t know anything and google shares go up? I can’t stay up 24 hours a day waiting to see if something happens within that window!!!!! Am I just suppose tell the cops… LOOK THERE’S AN EVENT!!!! SEEE!!!! No big deal… have the Nest Aware, all’s good. Nest Aware holds 60 days worth of material. I know that it won’t record 24/7 because I’m not plugging it in, that’s kinda THE ENTIRE POINT behind the name “Nest Cam BATTERY!” (And that cable is sold separately and it’s cheap) They just want you to purchase the service. I get it…. Synced to Google Home, everything looks good. Climb the ladder, drill through the house, position it just right… Stand back in marvel at my work, and the quality of the video. The camera automatically syncs with Nest Aware. Get an event today, cool! I check no worries. I look back once I get home, and BOOM this event has expired. So I contact Google via chat and I’m told, not only can you not record more than 3 hours if it’s not plugged in (outdoor plug sold separately) it won’t connect to the Nest Aware account!!!!!! Why the heck did they create this piece of garbage???? 3 hours? For as much as it cost, I could hire someone to sit outside and sketch what’s happening. Thanks for disappointing us yet again google. I should have learned better honestly, MY FAULT. The Hello is SO slow that they deliver packages, get back in the truck and is probably back to their warehouse before it even notifies you. Again… Why???? And oh yeah… I conveniently trusted Google to make a good product, and placed it NO where close to where I can even wire the paper weight.

Posted .Hi Scott, we appreciate you for letting us know of your experience with the Nest Cam (Battery) and we’re sorry that it’s a disappointment for you.
Nest Cam battery is the first battery camera created at Google Nest which features full on device machine learning which can detect pets, vehicles, people, faces and packages all without any cloud processing, and unlike the previous versions of Nest cameras, all the new cameras come with free 3 hour event-based video history. Previously, event-based recording required cameras to stream video to the cloud continuously while active for event detection algorithms to process the video. With onboard machine learning detection and sensors, event-based recording will begin when the sensor detects activity, and you can receive camera alerts as long as you're signed into the app.
While the Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to a power source to have 24/7 video history, If your camera is battery powered, it should still have event video history which will be deleted on a rolling basis after a certain number of days depending on which Nest Aware subscription that you have. But if you’ve set your camera to record and save specific kinds of events in its video history, your camera will detect and process any important activity that it detects, and will only save footage of events that you’ve enabled to the cloud.
Also, you can choose to receive notifications for everything your camera detects, or choose notifications for only certain types of activity. If you’ve turned on critical alerts, you should receive some push notifications even when your phone is set to Do Not Disturb. You can create Activity Zones to cover areas in your camera’s view that you care about, and choose the type of motion you want to be notified of for each zone. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. Here’s more information about notification settings you can change for your camera: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9210305
We care about your experience and are always here to help. If you need further assistance about the Nest Cam (Battery) and its features, don’t hesitate to visit us anytime here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Not worth the price in its current state.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already have 4 of the original google nest cams, so I went to try this one to see if the complaints were valid or just people angry with the new system. Well, some of the complaints are just people angry, a good number of them are actually valid. 1. The camera, when plugged in does have 24/7 history. Problem is the scrubbing function does not work so if someone sneaks into view and an event is not triggered, you will scrub right past it and never know. 2. You can't save clips outside of detected events. This is a huge no no and why google thought it was a good idea to release this without that function beats me. 3. While it does force you to use the google home app and I am used to the google home app, their layout of it and lack of instructions make it difficult for people that may not have the knowledge of googe home. I myself have not figured out how to save even clips either. 4. the lack of an actual length wire and having to buy one from the google store because it is not available instore is another huge no no. If i bought my cam, i would like to set it up the day i bought it, not wait a week for the 30 foot wire. Without the wire, the camera is a downgrade compared to the original cameras. Google says they are fixing the software issues but in its current state, I could not recommend this to fellow customers. It feels more like an incomplete product then a security home system.

Posted .Hi evaunit01berserk, we highly appreciate you sharing the details of your issues with using the Nest Cam (Battery). It’s unfortunate to learn that your experience with the new Nest Cam is less than ideal.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We also understand that it could be challenging to use the Google Home app if you haven’t used it before. Here are some steps that may help you about the video history.
To access your camera’s video history:
- Open the Home app Google Home app.
- On the home screen, select your camera.
- Near the bottom of the screen, tap History.
To use the Video history controls:
- Slide your finger left or right on the timeline to scrub through your camera’s video history.
- Tap Pause or Replay on the video window.
Learn more about the video history in the Home app here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10904254
The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be. You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. Follow the steps below to create and download a video clip:
- Open the Home app.
- Select your camera.
- Tap History near the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to an event in your camera’s video history timeline. You can also tap Full history for a list of events.
- Choose the event you want, then tap Event details.
- Near the top of the screen, tap Download download nest app icon to save the video clip to your phone. From there, you can share the video clip via email or social media app.
We care about your experience and your feedback is important to us. If you need any help with your Nest Cam (Battery) and using it effectively in the Google Home app, please feel free to find us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Good security camera
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought more of these while on sale, works great especially if using other google home products. I like that you can keep this plugged in for continuous 24/7 recording (as long as you pay for the plan, which also covers other cameras/nest doorbells). When not plugged in, tends to miss the first few seconds of an event in the history log. Picture quality is fairly good, even at night. Detection zones make it easier to not get notifications for cars passing by on the street.

Google - Nest Cam Battery 2-Pack
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the cameras have met my expectations. Great visual quality based on camera feed(s), extremely easy to install and position for optimal viewing coverage. Very satisfied with overall operability and use. Only downside, but manageable, is that the added cameras only work on the Google Home Network when added to an existing operable Nest Doorbell Camera operating system. But, as mentioned earlier, completely manageable through the Google Home networking system.

A little disappointing…
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I feel like Google Nest missed the mark on this product. I get the sense that Nest attempted to make the product easier to use and more versatile for placement by making it (chargeable) battery operated, which I understand. I owned, installed, and used the previous generation of wired outdoor Nest cam. The install was moderate to difficult for a weekend handyman like me, but in the end, it all worked out and looked amazing. But, my issues are: 1) I bought the 2 pack (2 cameras), yet there is only 1 short charging wire, with no wire or supplies to hardwire the camera for 24/7 footage. So, you have to purchase (from Google) additional outdoor wires that are long enough to install. 2) you’re asking why I would want to hardwire the camera, right? First, all reports reaffirm that battery life is short, especially in high traffic areas, so I don’t want to keep charging and worrying when the battery is low. Second, if you want full functionality of the camera, then it HAS TO BE hardwired. That was the biggest disappointment. Why would Google Nest offer a new product that can’t be fully setup from what is offered in the box. It feels like a money grab, and not a pleasant customer experience.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cameras work great. Nice clear picture and simple to install. Posted .Hi Lucy, thanks for giving us feedback about using the Nest Cam (battery), and we're sorry to hear that your experience with its battery life isn’t ideal.
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link might be helpful: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Here are some typical scenarios.
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you still have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

Major Battery & Charging Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a 2-pack and have used them for about a year. One of the cameras works ok, but often doesn't pick up motion. The other cam is terrible. The battery takes 2-3 days to charge. Constantly says that it's an incompatible charger, eventhough it's the cable that came with it, and charges the other cam fine. It can't charge while mounted. The battery only lasts about 3-5 days, with no activity. The battery is a serious problem and makes the purchase unusable.

Posted .Hello there, Allen. We appreciate the feedback you shared about the Nest Cam (battery). We’re sorry to learn that your experience, with the motion detection and battery life, is less than ideal.
It may be helpful to adjust the wake-up sensitivity of your camera to decide when to wake up and start recording. If the wake-up sensitivity is low:
- It decreases the range at which the camera can sense activity.
- It increases the amount of time it takes for the camera to wake up once it senses activity.
Here's how to adjust the wake-up sensitivity in your camera settings:
- Open the Home app.
- Touch and hold your device's tile.
- Tap Settings > Video > Wake-up sensitivity.
- Choose the High setting.
We’d like to investigate why the battery life is significantly lower than expected so we can help improve your experience. Please get in touch with us through our contact channels found here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Great but....
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera works well, has a stong enough battery, and a fairly strong magnet so it can be placed just about anywhere. The only problem i see is that it needs a subscription to get the best use out of it.

Great if you're committed to the Google ecosystem
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For anyone looking for the cleanest, most seamless outdoor camera this nest cam is by far the best looking one currently available. The picture is crisp and the new Google Home app brings all my smart switches, thermostats, locks and even shades together under one app and everything is accessible via voice command. I do wish Google offered a portable charging solution that doesn't require taking the camera off and then having to find and reposition the camera again once it's charged back to its original angle.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I purchased my house 2 years ago, there was a Nest outdoor camera in place. When it didn't cover the front door as well as I would have liked, I added a Nest doorbell camera. Now I wanted to add a camera for the back door. I went with Nest to integrate all my cameras and have it under the same security system. Going with the wireless model may have been short-sighted on my part. The camera was easy to install. It literally took less than 10 minutes. Granted I'm still adjusting the settings, but it doesn't seem to cover as much from a video standpoint as the other cameras. This is perhaps due to the battery power and the need to conserve. (I may add a weather proof cable if I can't get the settings to my satisfaction.)

Sucks it doesn’t work with the old app
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works like the old nest cams. Has a battery, but to get continuous feed, they MUST be plugged in. The cameras MUST use the google home app, and do not show up in the nest app. This is fine if you don’t have any legacy nest cams, but if you do, the legacy cams in the google home app DO NOT have the same functionality as they do in the nest app. For example, if I want to scroll through the timeline just to see what happened that day, above and beyond the normal motion and sound alerts, the google home app does not allow me to do this for the legacy cameras. If google wants us to only use the google home app, then the functionality for the legacy devices needs to also be included.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Google Nest cams they have good quality picture they pick up good sound and the microphone works pretty dang well all in all a wonderful product...except if you buy the two pack of cameras Google thought it was good idea to give you only one charger and one charging cable which is absolutely ridiculous!!... I bought six of these things with a floodlight cam combo for 1300 some odd dollars and I still have to buy three cables and three charging blocks Google this is really stupid!!

Posted .Hey there, OleOneTake! Thanks for investing high on Google Nest devices and we’re glad that you love the Nest cameras. We hear your concerns about camera multi-packs having one charging cable included. The inclusion of a single cable is intentional, as the cameras shouldn't usually need to be charged at the same time due to differences in usage, such as event frequency or scene the camera is observing, sensitivity and event duration settings, and more.
