I wish I could return this item but unfortunately, I left out of town and the return date passed by about a month. Black color stands out and isn’t discrete. Not very satisfied.

WRONG! You MUST pay an additional $50 per year for a subscription to see anything but live video. Otherwise, when the camera sees something it saves a snapshot -- it even says how long it "saw" video, but that video is inaccessible -- only the snapshot, which may or may not have anything useful. So, unless you get the notification and IMMEDIATELY go to live stream, whatever it captured is lost. I purchased a WYZE camera for far less money and it gives me the video for at least the day of the recording, if not more. And, it cost way less. In fact it cost less than the annual Nest subscription! I will never purchase another NEST product.

Even same day videos are not available. Plenty of other camera options where there is free video storage.

I could do that with the Nest Aware trial but the trial expired after 30 days. I do not wish to pay for Nest Aware when multiple cameras on the market do what I want for free. Given Best Buy's 15 day return policy, the new camera is now lying unused in a box. I think it's deceptive to have an auto enabled trial that runs longer than the return window.

Nest Aware is a paid subscription service you can use with your Nest products to help keep you informed about important events at your home. With a Nest Aware subscription, your Nest camera stores video securely to the Nest cloud so you can access it anytime, anywhere. Depending on which Nest Aware subscription you have, your camera can record event-based video history for up to 60 days so you only get video clips of important activity your camera detects. Without Nest Aware subscription, you can go back and view snapshots of events up to 3 hours in the past. Beware if you have a newer router

Trying to connect these to my network was a nightmare, and after rebooting my router I went through the same headache again. I'll be returning them.

The nest app underwhelms and does not offer playback of clips. I bought this to use as a puppy cam and the video quality is poor and I cannot review clips of captured activity from earlier in the day. The camera itself is extremely hot to the touch and I will probably end up replacing this soon. I expected more from a camera in this price range...

To create, save and share video clips and time lapses from your camera’s video history, you will need to have a Nest Aware subscription. Take a look at this link for more info: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9207572
Without a subscription, you’ll still get snapshots up to 3 hours in the past, which will automatically expire and be deleted after 3 hours. Learn more about Nest Aware here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9546397
As for the image quality, you can always adjust your camera’s video quality settings to have sharper and more detailed footage which uses more internet bandwidth. Here are the simple steps:
- On the Nest app home screen, select your camera
- In the upper right, tap Settings.
- Tap Quality and bandwidth.
- The leftmost option labeled Low uses the smallest amount of bandwidth.

I don’t usually review products however, I am compelled to leave a review for this product. On multiple days upon returning home. We were there at least 20 minutes before the camera detected made the detection. A person could have robbed us and gotten away with our goods before the camera detected them. We Were so appalled and returned the item. I wish I can give it less than one star.
