Ahead of technology

Not enough detail in video, pics, picks up lights from cars, and bugs and notifies you of a breach. Just not what I wanted. Maybe in three or four years they will catch up.

Nest Aware Problem

The feature that recognizes from your phone that you are home used to work great. Now it is at best sporadic and you receive emails every time you enter the camera's view. I have called their help line and their solutions only temporarily fixt the problem. Look it up on line and you will see the many others have the same problem. You will also need 2 apps to make it work (Google Home and Nest). Don't buy until the problem is fixed.

Quality of picture is ok. There are more customer friendly cameras on the market.

Set up was extremely fast and easy. It literally took more time to screw in the back plate to the wall than it did to set up the camera to my phone. 1080p video looks great. 130 degree camera captures much more of an area then I expected. But what really sold me was the 10 or 30 day continuous video recording. After looking at DLink cameras, it would be nice to not have to pay a subscription, but I also did not want to have to buy a camera, video recorder AND separate Hard Drive to record on a local server. If someone were to break in, take the camera and hard drive, you would be left with out any evidence. The nest does require internet and if the internet goes out, then you will not have recording. But I feel better about my reliable connection capturing and saving video rather than relying on a hard drive that could easily be stolen. Bottom line, this is a great set up, very easy to use and very high quality.

Waste of money

It can do that but..... the setup requires a password. While the password I chose met the requirements, it would not let me use it. I put the capital letter in he middle of the word instead of the first letter and it worked. Why?? To use it your phone has to be on WiFi. Not so useful when shopping. Using public WiFi is very risky. Also Nest is owned by Google. I have serious trust issues with them especially since they appear to be saving the video. Bottom line I wasted my money and it’s too late to return it.

Posted .We're sorry to hear about the experience you've had with your Nest Cam. We take our customers privacy very seriously, so we want to ensure a strong password is used when an account is created. You should be able to view your Nest account through your phone using the Nest app on both Wi-Fi and Data, so you can access the account from anywhere as long as you have access to one of those connections on your phone.
The Nest Cam comes with a free Nest Aware trial, and with Nest Aware the video history is stored in our cloud storage, but rolls off after so many days which is dependent on what type of plan is chosen.
The only people who have access to the recorded footage would be the account owner, and anyone they have provided access to.

Poor for your Reward System

What I am amazed with is the short time the rewards have before they expire. I was disappointed that my $50 and $20 reward dropped off. There have been more in the past that we have lost. My wife and I each have a card and both experience what we consider no benefit at all from your reward program. I did speak to the store about my concern, but it went on deaf ears. This past 6 weeks, I purchased 9 Nest cameras and a Ring. I hope you consider extending the time frame.

Notifications were slow to receive, and after a month, the recorded videos just stopped playing. The app would only show still images of what was caught "in motion". And this is regards to motion recorded the same day, not some 30+ old day video. Then there is the nest aware installment. Just more money grab. Look online and there are plenty of individuals who have no playback.

The free Nest Aware subscription trial period runs out after the first month and without Nest Aware, your Nest Cam Indoor takes snapshots and sends notifications when it detects motion and sound activity. All three worked for about a week and then one stop working and then two stop working. One out of three cameras work. I called and was told that the return policy was extended but I would have to bring back all three cameras in the packing. Do not buy multi packages. If one doesn't work then the complete package has to be returned.

Unreliable, terrible, awful

The outside and doorbell were working fine but these two constantly dropping connection, and I have to unplug and replut. Wouldn’t you know it just so happens to be outside the return window. Hate this product and nest now.

Here are some recommended steps that may be helpful with the connectivity drop issue:
- Check your Nest Cam Indoor’s distance from the router or access point.
- Restart your Nest Cam Indoor. Locate the reset button on the back of the camera. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.
- Restart your router.
- Check for interference. Almost every network is subject to wireless interference which can cause problems when connecting your camera to the Google Home app.
- Check for any wireless interference that may be caused by thick walls and floors, competing Wi-Fi networks, or other electronics in your home.
- Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your devices that's connected to your network may help relieve some bandwidth space.

Do not migrate to google

If u have an old nest account DO NOT MIGRATE TO GOOGLE. Google acknowledges the problem and taking their sweet time to get back to me. It will not add Nest Aware and will want access to all ur google privacy features. Which is very unnecessary.

Nest Cam is amazing and worth every penny!

The setup was simple and fast. The image quality is extremely impressive. I keep it on 720, but it does have other options such as 1080 if you want that. The camera itself is super sleek and very well constructed. The magnetic bottom is stronger than I expected as well. The cord is not a hassle and durable as well. The app is easy to use and Nest doesn't send me a bunch of marketing emails which I really enjoy. Anyway, this is great! You should buy it! I would love to buy another one soon!

Misleading advertising

Makes you purchase subscription. Only gives you a snapshot of activity and not a video of the activity. Would recommend going with another device unless you want the high end subscription product as this is useless without it. Advertised as you get video of a days worth of activity for a day but that isnt true.

Good hardware, okay software, overpriced recording
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have spent my way well into the Nest ecosystem over the last few years but the price for the Nest Cam as well as internet data caps kept me away. Well I finally found a way to avoid the data caps (for now) and I saw a deal on the camera itself so decided to give it a go. The hardware is excellent and while it's obviously a camera it isn't such an eye sore like the "insert generic brand" IP cameras I had been using and the image quality and field of view are both excellent. Setup was very easy but I already had the Nest app and a Nest account so I got to skip a few steps. Once it's running that's pretty much all there is unless you want to setup time of day or geo-location schedules. It's nice that technically you can use both time of day and geo-location however they can conflict with each other at times. For example if your geo is set to turn the camera off when you arrive home but you arrive home in the middle of a time that it's scheduled to be on the camera will end up being off until the next time there is a schedule event. Not a big deal but can sometimes end up with the camera being in the wrong state for what you want. My biggest grip with the app is when you go to look at the camera and it's off there is a toggle on screen to turn it on which is great however to then turn it back off after I'm done checking on whatever I was looking at you have to go into the settings pane to find the on/off toggle. Again, a very minor annoyance but an annoyance all the same. FInally my biggest reason for knocking off a star is the cost to have cloud recording. I get that they have to pay for the severs some how but there are other companies offering multi-device cloud recording for free up to a limited number of devices, I think the 1 time cost of the hardware would be a lot easier to handle if that's all there was but when you then have to pay a fee per camera for storing your recordings it starts to get expensive. Last little note, good internet is a real plus for this camera. My internet (DSL) is really quite terrible so I never really get to take advantage of the full capabilities and every now and then the camera will report offline because it fails to check in with the Nest service.

I live in Glendale CA, the item was send to someone to OREGAN state. I never use this specific card of mine anywhere besides buying twice a year printer ink from ONLY Best Buy, and that is all. Check your monthly statements frequently, they might charge your accounts also.
