    Close, but still needs work

Impressive build quality and design, I love the mounting and flexibility. But then what is up with the cable? It is like a huge afterthought, it is unnecessarily thick (it should need only 3 wires max) it is not flexible and makes mounting cleanly impossible. For it to be of any use you need to pay the subscription, and it is a PER CAMERA subscription, which can get expensive fast. The mobile app has very limited functionality when it comes to history or alerts. I have yet to get an alert take me to the correct clip. Even viewing the clips on mobile is random at best. The alert "zones" are limited as they only work for particular situations. I.E. if you have a window as a zone, yet if someone walks in front, even many feet from the window, it will trigger. In the docs, web and video it leads you to believe it is smarter. It is not. Did I mention this camera gets VERY hot? The image quality is good, as is the night vision, but of course this is only if your network bandwidth is good. Also note that this camera is using your precious internet upload bandwidth all the time the camera is on. No local buffering here. I would like to see it just send video if motion or sound was triggered. Think if you have 10 of these. Hello Comcast throttling... I think it still needs a lot of work. Did I mention the huge afterthought of a cable? They don't use it for configuring, so they don't need a full USB cable, just a nice thin and flexible cable for power would be much better. Perhaps in black to match the rest of the camera.

    Not Reliable!

Easy installation and 1080 is clear, but does not get the job done in the recordings. I read all the great reviews so thought I was buying a reliable camera. I purchased 3 and didn't mind the high price tag given that I thought I was getting a great product. Unfortunately for me, this product failed. I wanted to be able to see all movement of a person in any given room, but this only records for a few seconds at a time when there is motion, even if the person is still in the room moving around, it will stop recording. Then it starts recording again after a minute or two, consequently causing you to miss a lot of footage! This happened with all 3 cameras, so it wasn't just one defective one. The app also buffers a lot so its impossible to see live footage from your phone. You have to rely on playback (recordings), but like I said the recordings are not reliable.

Great Cameras but Needed Router Upgrade

We have 2 Drop-cams Pros and just purchased 2 Nest-cams. We initially tested the drop-cams in the house. They worked pretty well inside, pointed out a window - if you do this, turn the infrared off. We then bought outdoor cases for them. We are testing 2 outside while waiting for 2 more cases. We had trouble getting the cameras to "hit the router and stay connected". Husband bought a Wi-Fi extender first (first one we tried did not extend signal well enough). Then a new router. Now the cameras are all working great. Great clear photos. Just remember if you buy outdoor cases, it voids the warranty. We are taking our chances as an outdoor model does not appear to be coming anytime soon. Wish the cameras would also move but the gooseneck outdoor case works fine. I have 2 on their cloud plan. Once we get the other 2 cameras set up outside, I will add them to the account. It is an expensive overall investment (4 cameras - $844, wi-fi extender - $120 and router $211 plus 4 cases - $320, plus monthly cloud cost) but it gives us security. We hope to add the smoke detector(s) next.

    Best purchase ever

It's very obvious that they workshopped every thought on this device before putting it to Market. Everything from the feel of unboxing it to the feel of the camera, the swivel, the magnets, the look, the imagery, the quality, all of it. They really thought of everything for everyone. No matter where you want to place this camera it's going to be easy to do with the supplied accessories. It's going to feel amazing in your hand as you set it up. The cables are longer than you need, which is awesome. The scope of the video is wider then you would think so it covers so much more ground. It's simply the most amazing camera purchase experience that I could possibly imagine. I went out of my way to find a place to write a review because I'm just simply perplexed by how great this product is. Even the nest app was an awesome experience. You can type in the serial number to add the device to your wifi and nest system or you can simply take a QR picture and it will wait for you to authorized the MAC address if you have a super-tight wi-fi system like I do. It's just awesome

The camera was very easy to setup using the QR code on the back of the unit. The quality of the video is good, and the app works well. Really, my only complaint is that they only give you 3 hours of history to review for free. If you need more than that, you are forced into a subscription model. There are other top-notch companies that are offering at least 24 hours of free cloud storage.

I have bought several other cheaper home security cameras and they all don't work. I need to self monitor my camera from a mobile device and I want the camera to send me an alert when it detects movement on the area I place the camera towards. I did not want to spend this much for a camera but I am glad I finally did! I recommend this camera!

I thought about purchasing other cameras that were cheaper. But, i wanted my Nest systems to be integrated, work under one app, and have high security standards. The features I enjoy the most are the notifications, 2 way mic/speaker. This camera works well, captures a big field of view and is exactly what I expected. One thing that would take this experience out of this world would be to make the device rotatable.

It always reconnects automatically when it disconnects for any reason. Other brands may not do that. Runs hot so it may turn off on occasion to cool down. Not sure why the random short duration inop warnings are for but it always reconnects on its own. Also you may need to choose lower resolutions if you are running several of these on your WIFI network. My Nest Hello had to be dumbed down to 720 and moved off the 5GHZ to insure constant connectivity. Outstanding products that actually work 24/7. I use live feed only as it is totally free. Also these would be great for monitoring 1000 year old parents.

This is a great product and one that has given me peace of mind as well as a good bit of novelty. While vacationing, It keeps an eye on my home. And while home, It keeps an eye on my birds. So easy to use and set up. I plan to get two more.
