Great camera with great video quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 of these cameras in my house, mostly to watch my dogs when I am out. These work great as they have good picture quality and the Nest UI is easy to use. However, my only gripes are with the app, as it seems that the quality of historical video goes is not as good when your free trial of Nest Aware is up. With Nest aware, I was able to see all the footage for the past 10 days smoothly, but when it ended (Nest gives you 3 hours of recording for free) it was choppy and hard to look back at things. Other than that, these cameras themselves are great. I wish Nest would make a version that can move/rotate as that would be awesome.

Good Quality, but worthless without a subscription
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera quality is good, wide angle covers the entire room and more. But what good is having the camera if you are not watching it 24/7. The Nest will only record up to 3 hours and then it's gone unless you subscribe to their pricey subscription. For the cost of the camera you would think they could give up more video space without milking more money out of the customer. It's also hard to go back and review the one or two clips that is does save. Most of the time it spins and won't play back the video. I found it to work better during the free trial phase than it does now without the subscription. Do your homework before you buy, see what other products give you more video without a subscription. We only purchased one and I am glad because the next 4 we buy will not be Nest.

Pleasantly Surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the 3 pack, installed them with ease and liked them so much I bought the outdoor camera for my pool area. These cameras are the best I have ever had. Super easy install. Hooked right up to my wifi and they work very well. The first month of video storage is free but it will cost you 100 dollars for the first camera then 50 dollars for each additional camera per year. Pricey? Yeah, not too over joyed about that, but I am gonna bite and get the subscription for the pool camera and one inside camera. The pool video storage by itself is worth it. Like an additional insurance policy.

Beware: If you don't subscribe to Nest Aware....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want everyone contemplating this camera to know that if you don't subscribe to Nest Aware, you will only get notifications with poor resolution still images (think flip phone camera quality) with the motion detection feature. You will NOT be able to review a high resolution video clip. Just a still photo delivered via text or email. This despite the super high resolution of the video. The subscriptions range from $100/yr to $200/yr. It is absolutely outrageous that with a $200 camera I can't choose to store the videos on my iCloud account or Google Drive. Essentially, unless you 1) subcribe or 2) watch the live video feed at all times, you are purchasing a $200 still photo camera that takes pictures with early 1990s resolution. Otherwise, the camera is easy to set up and the user interface is pretty friendly. The camera does have a very nice wide angle view and it is a nice crisp clear picture when viewing the live stream (or when viewing recorded clips IF you have a subscription).

This is a review as a baby momitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not using this for security I have a hard wired system for that. Design is OK but the USB cable seems like an afterthought. Setup was quick but it takes 5 minutes not 60 seconds. The first 2 times it failed to connect then on the third it worked Image quality is OK but it's default is 720p and at 1080p you have more potential issues, plus Netflix might not work anymore. This is why I have a hard wired system for security. It has a very wide angle lens but you can permanently zoom in and enhance an, area ideal for a crib It records and logs clips for 24hrs which is great for what I need but the biggest issue is software and notifications. Sometimes they work, sometimes nothing. The history shows a log of the event but almost no notifications on Apple devices and 50% on android. Nest Customer support sent a new unit even I though I tried to convince them the issue is in the cloud. Guess what? still no notifications. Not suitable for a baby monitor unless you are willing to have the video permanently on on your device and use it for nothing else. If it was 100$ I'd keep it and buy a cheap tablet but it is 200 so I'm returning it

Easy installation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a video camera to monitor our house while away. The instructions said that set up would be brief and it was. I was pleased with how easy it was to get set up and monitoring. The units are a little pricey, but worth it.

Google messed up with this release
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great camera, but very expensive to subscribe. $10 a month or $100 for the year. Come on Google, cloud storage could have been free for a certain amount of storage like the rest of your products (Google Drive) and/or charge a fee if more space is needed. I am a Google Fan and look forward to their products, but this one is a miss. It also constantly showed it was offline. Not something you want to see with home security in mind. I returned to Best Buy the next day with no hassles.

Easy Setup for Non Techie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These cams are extremely easy to setup unlike IP Cams. I would recommend for the non techie. Helps complete Nest Thermostat and CO2 / Smoke Detectors.

the free, the cheap and the moderately expensive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally something that works! My first foray into home security cams, I used a couple old phones (Note 2s) which was kinda cool considering you could use the front AND back cameras, listen and speak, with an app "Alfred". Free, but sooooo unstable. I'd be away and a camera would just stop working and not reconnect. Then I tried three D-Link cams and got them working with a little headache, but then they too were unreliable and next to impossible to view clips on the mini SD cards even with great internet and an OnHub router . After doing an update to the D-Links, I couldn't get the 180 degree cams to work again. Funny the cheaper D-Link DCS936L worked fine and updated fine, but I had had it with the D-Link interface and software. Returned them and bit the bullet, spent a little more for Nest Cams and WOW, I'm impressed. Nest cams (I bought 3 pack) are very intuitive to set up and use. The quality of hardware and software amazing. I've used the free, the cheap and the moderately expensive. No comparison...it's worth the extra few bucks. Now when I use their app I see my 3 cameras at once and my Nest thermostats right on the same screen whether viewing on my laptop or phone.

Best Security!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend recommended this camera and I love it. It was easy to set up and even easier to monitor motion and sound activity. You have to pay $99 a year for history activity but it is well worth it for the quality of the video and sound.

Excellent Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sturdy, easy setup, and has great video. Operation is a breeze. Security features are a big plus- the camera is used as a baby monitor, and the grandparents enjoy secure online access while the parents have peace of mind!

Great Camera and easy to install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second camera (First one is drop cam) and it working perfectly. If you subscribed monthly or yearly, it will give you an ability to export/save a short clip or snap a picture. Work great in Night with infrared. So overall I am very satisfied this product.

Read before buying other cams
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought another brand of camera to use as a baby monitor and to view my living room while I'm at work. The first camera (flir fx) I returned because of lag issues and poor 2 way audio. The flir also has a funky way of recording (1min) clips so playback was weird. With that said I picked up this camera and it is impressive. Great picture and very little lag (less than 1 sec) and the 2 way communication is very good especially for the size. It seems to do everything I want and it is almost as good as my Samsung baby monitor. If you want to watch your kids in real time this is the best I have seen so far.

Camera great, app sux
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quality of the camera is great. The mobile app sux. Frequently does not connect to provide video, often sends false notifications of sound or motion. In a nutshell, cries Wolf so you're not sure what is real and what is an anomaly. Don't by this product.

IT DOESN'T WORK and NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IT DOESN'T WORK. It started off well and then went downhill. I was pleased with the ease of installation and use of the cameras but then they quit sending me emails when someone walked in front of them. I spent 1 1/2 hours (that's 1 1/2 hours) on the phone with support who told me to turn all of them off, reset them, strike the app from my I-Pad and download it again. I did all. It still didn't fix it. When I asked to speak to someone above the tech I was working with I was told "all the people above me don't have phones." That's actually pretty hilarious. Bottom line: The product doesn't work and the support doesn't know how to help.
