    If you think you are going to have live surveillance without purchasing the monthly surveillance plan, then think again. What you actually get is a snap shot of some activity that gives you very little information. For instance, you will get a snapshot of a car that enters the activity zone but it will NOT provide any other activity that happens after the initial snapshot. You won't know if someone exited the car and/or breached your zone without purchasing a plan.

    Nest is sending me hourly emails when i turn my camera off. First, thats annoying. Second, it shows that they're monitoring my camera. Third, it shows they either dont get how people want to use cameras, or something more nefarious. Unhappy. Already spent hours on this. Will have to spend a few more to extract the vendor from my home. Think hard about your security before you buy this one.

    This camera has excellent resolution and field of view. However, you either have to protect the cord and have an outdoor power source OR drill a hole into the interior. The newer Nest Cam Outdoor IQ only configures and synchronizes via WiFi. I had difficulty with other Nest Devices which only synchronizes wirelessly. The older devices and be configured via USB to your desktop or laptop.
