Great camera - terrible cable design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This, like Nests indoor cameras, has an outstanding quality image and the recordings are very nice to have. The paid service to save your history is a bit overpriced in my opinion so you may want to pick and choose which cameras you subscribe to. The unit itself is well built quality wise, the camera is easy to mount and aim and stays in place well with the super strong magnet that holds it. However, the cable design is absolutely awful. You have 25 total feet of cable, in two 10 and 15 foot sections. And right in the middle of these two sections is a huge round blob/block that connects the two. Hiding the cable is a little difficult since its thick, so thieves could easily see it and cut the cable or just cover their face and cut the cable right at the camera itself and then have no issues. The big round block is so big it stands out like a sore thumb, inviting thieves to simply unplug it and then they are no longer on camera. And it's also so big that putting it inside of a standard electrical box is the only real option you have to hide it... aside form having it hidden behind the wall outside which could be a code violation. I believe it needs a safety cuff around the cable at the camera that is coated with something that can't be cut, there needs to be a screw or similar to make it stay attached to the magnet and the cable design needs to be completely redone by someone who knows what they are doing. With that said, the quality is excellent both night and day and having quick and easy access via the Nest app anywhere is really nice. Mine alerts me when packages arrive, the mail is here, people come to my yard etc. I would give the installation a real serious going over and consult with your electrician before buying this product, especially if you have a window inside you can simply place one of the indoor cams in to see outside. That exposed cable is just too much of a security risk, ironic since its supposed to be a security camera.

One of the best outdoor security cameras
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Easy to install and set up. Image quality is very good. Multiple activities zones work very well. Good build quality. Mobile App is intuitive especially if you have Nest ecosystem (for some reasons, IOS App is snappier then the Android, and Nest owned by Google...). Cloud storage (yes, it is not free but I am willing to pay just for peace of mind especially when I am traveling). Cons: Power wire's length is not "flexible", I have to install an additional junction box to "hide" the excess wire. The power adapter is huge (almost impossible to hide it or feed it through any hole). Additional fee for cloud storage. Give it a try, you'll love it. This is my 4th Nest Cam.

Excellent camera!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After thorough research on several different brands, I decided to buy the Nest cameras. I have never owned security cameras, but always wanted some. I saw that these had good reviews and decided to try them out. I made a very good choice in choosing these. No regrets! They are easy to install and awesome quality!! You can also just buy the inside cameras and put it inside your home facing the outside and it still does an awesome job! The outside ones, I installed them outside above a window and just ran the cable through the window and plugged it inside. We did not need to drill any holes and the window closes all the way because the cable is flat. I'm very happy with this purchase! I included a screenshot from my phone of the view. (Disregard yard mess, we're cleaning up to put new grass. Lol.)

A must have!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this single unit along with the double pack and this brand for cameras is the only one I will purchase. The video quality is amazing both during daytime hours and nighttime hours. Crystal clear quality and can be viewed on your MacBook Pro (or laptop), any tablet with app access and also the Google Home Hub which I purchased tonight. The quality is literally breathtaking and since they are so powerful; they do need to be plugged into a source of power which didn’t bother me. I was able to his it behind the siding on my home as it is was built over 100 years ago and my friend who also owns this brand of cameras was able to drill a small home into his eves and run the wires within the attack. It comes with professional wire holding mounts which screw in and the wire can be painted without any issue. You can also discreetly run the wire through a window such as I did and window will still close and screen will stay in place. I have an alarm system with sensors on all windows and it didn’t cause any issues with the sensors either and you can hardly even see the wire running inside a window. I only had to do this with one camera and the window is upstairs. The attached image is shown on a Google Home Hub and since I have so much smart home products, it is in 720 and not 1080 until I upgrade my internet speed. The camera(s) doesn’t use that much bandwidth, it’s all the other 12 items logged into my network.

Love my NEST Cam's
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed two outdoor NEST camera's to watch over our front and backyards. They work great. The night vision capability gives us superb coverage as well. We added the Nest Aware monitoring and have been very pleased, the recorded video is very clear and good resolution. Would totally recommend this product.

Great camera, installation was a pain.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality is good. Sensor detects movement even at a distance. Only frustration was with the install to interior power. Have to drill a large hole to feed the power connection through. Ended up plugging the hole with a 1 inch dowel, notched for the cord and spackeling the interior hole. You would think the nest design team would anticipate this and make a plug for the exterior and interior holes. Also, I now have 4 cameras and think they should provide a break or bundle price for the annual nest aware fees or include 1st year free after your third camera. Expensive equipment and expensive annual fees for surveillance history.

Has the best wifi range of any camera I've tried.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pleasantly surprised that these cameras connected without any problem to my wifi, since they have no external antennas. Picture is very sharp and night vision works well. Only complaint is that there is quite a long lag between real time and the picture.

Great night vision range
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera after trying others and the BB salesman suggested it for my needs. I needed to watch my vehicle at night in low/no light area. He said night vision up to 45 feet. It's the best I've seen. Linked up to my android and PC. Free nest upgraded service for one month included. I tried Motorola and Logitech Circle 2, neither work as well as this camera. Worth the investment.

Q: QuestionHow is this product powered, what is needed to wire it in?
Asked by Monkiman.
- A:Answer Hello, So the nest outdoor camera is powered by plugging into an outlet. It comes with a basic cord where you plug one end into the camera, and plug the other end into an outlet. Thankfully, it also comes with an extension cord that increases the length of the wire if your outlet is far away. It also comes with wall clips so that your wire does not hang loosely. There is nothing else needed to wire it in. All you need is an outlet, the wire, the wall clips, an IOS or android device, and a good internet connection. Let me know if this helped!

Q: QuestionI'm trying to understand the subscription part of this. If you don't get a subscription, what do you get? Just real-time alerts, video feed and two-way communication to your phone but no recording?
Asked by cpk6104.
- A:Answer Correct. Without a subscription you get real-time alerts, live-video feed and two-way communication but no historical recording.

Q: QuestionIf the cameras need to be plugged into an outlet, then the thief can just unplug it right?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer That is correct, they can be unplugged. We drilled a two holes into our garage, one for the front of the garage and one for the front entry of the house, ran the cords into the garage to plug them in on the inside, then sealed the holes around the cord.

Q: QuestionCan the Nest outdoor cam detect motion from small objects like golf balls? One of my neighbors' is playing golf & the golf balls end up in my backyard. I cannot file a formal complaint without knowing where the golf balls are coming from.
Asked by Pepper.
- A:Answer I have several Nest Outdoor cameras. They are excellent, however, I don't believe that it will detect very small objects like a golf ball. My cameras detect small animals like skunks, cats and so on, but I don't think it would catch something that small. But you have to remember that the camera is always on and you can search the archive video to see if you see anything. I rolled a golf ball for you on my back patio to see if it will detect it. The camera did not notify me of any movement, but I was still able to see it on the playback. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Q: QuestionDo these cameras have to be connected to the same WIFI network? For example, I wanted to place one at my home and one at my place of business, would this be possible? Both have wifi networks and outlets.
Asked by Jason.
- A:Answer I have two of these at home and one at my shop. As long as you do the setup under the same nest account you will see all three cameras on the nest app simultaneously. The wifi network doesn't matter. It's awesome I love it.

Q: QuestionIf the system is wireless, why do you need power source?
Asked by George.
- A:Answer Yes, it needs power. The only 2 outdoor camera's Best Buy carries that's truly wireless is the Ring system, and the Arlo.

Q: QuestionHow many Nest out door cameras can you hook up to your router? Is there a limit of cameras on the plan?
Asked by Jeff.
- A:Answer It depends on your internet speed coming to the house, the router you have, and how strong the signal is to the cameras. If you have an N-Router, probably 1 or 2 at most if currently you have less than 6 devices on the router. If you have an AC1900 Router, you could probably connect up to 10 Cameras. If you have a weak signal to where the cameras are going to be, you are going to have a hard to loading the camera, and when it detects motion, it's going to take longer to notify you, and longer for it to actually start recording. It might record in 720 or lower video quality if it's a slow connection. I would download a speedtest app on your phone. Go by the place where you would want to install the camera, and run a speed test, you should have atleast 10 - 20Mbps download, and a minimum of 2Mbps upload. (Ideally 10Mbps, but the higher than upload, the better).
