Not even a small "cloud" storage of videos is available. With this set-up, If you want to see what happened with your package, you have to be watching LIVE and that defeats the purpose of security. If you want to pay a monthly subscription, you can get the minimum of 5days archive clips. I wasted money on TWO of these and now, they just tell me when it sees "motion" or "hears" a noise, but there are no files to preview at a later date! Completely USELESS without the subscription!!! DON'T BUY IT!!! Do NOT buy it as a gift for anyone unless you want them to be angry with you.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a 2 pack of these Nest Cam's because I have a "Dropcam" camera in my living room that has served me well (Google bought out Dropcam and re-branded their cameras to Nest Cam). I installed them the same day, which had it's challenges but got them working eventually. Both cameras were working well for two weeks, then, for no apparent reason they both stopped working at the same time. I have these cameras to monitor a vacation home so I'm not there to trouble shoot the problem but I know it's not the Internet because my living room camera is still working. Very frustrating.

I have had people come out and look at it but no solution. The back yard camera very seldom go off line. If it was not for that I would love it.

Nest cameras will go offline due to several factors. We suggest these steps that may help:
- Check if the camera feels warm or cold. It may disconnect from Wi-Fi to help protect itself.
- Restart the camera, unplug the power adapter and wait for 10 seconds before plugging back in. You should see a solid green light on the front of your camera if it’s connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
- Try your Nest camera into a different power outlet to rule out power issues.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router to refresh the connection. Unplug the power cord and wait for 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Perform a factory reset on your camera. If you have a Nest Aware subscription, make sure to save any important clips before performing a factory reset. Then pair it back to your Nest app. Check this link to see how to perform reset: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162

Great camera if you purchase subscription

Another downside is expect a 3-4 sec delay before you get alerted.

I love Nest products and how they intertwine with each other but some bugs to work out.
