When I called an electrician he said all next cameras do that and he could not repair. Of course, my ultimate question is how long do these actually last.

I'd rather recommend a local system that you can access with a personal cloud. Would not recommend for more than one camera system.

I have a great wifi connection now that I bought mesh routers for my home. So, this shouldn’t be an issue and still, they didn’t work consistently. I took them back. Don’t bother.

It’s also corded which the cord is super long with lots of drilling into the side of the house so we decided to return it.

The problem is Google since they bought Nest. The worst customer experience I’ve ever encountered. They pretend to care, but zero follow through. After two ridiculous hours, two senior support specialists, they finally agreed to replace the camera…IF I mail it to them first. Google needs to give it back to Nest and walk away. They’ve destroyed their reputation.

Could not get a wireless connection to the FIOS ActionTec router. Had to return. So bumbed. May work with other service provider equipment. Friend has a set that works just fine.

The others r easy to restore.I will purchase more I already have quite a bit of these cameras they work great..

Upgrade to Xfinity 1000 Mbs Xfi service, add extenders, bring in geek squad. Bring in Xfinity techs. Now trying new modem, mesh router system, After subscription to Nest Aware - I will be in over $1000 for a single frigging camera to watch the contractors across the street continue to damage our front stone wall and walk. These cameras are so finicky they defy description.

Still have the camera but haven't installed it yet as I am seriously contemplating returning it. I gave it one star as the system required an input here but I really do not have an opinion about the product but am very disappointed about the additional software requirements.

If you want cheaper wireless cameras with better quality, get the Arlo ones. The Nest cameras look super grainy and they are laggy. The only real redeeming quality is they have a long power cord and you don’t have to worry about a battery dying.

We suggest disconnecting some of your devices connected to your Wi-Fi network and see if the image quality for your Nest camera will improve. Should you verify congestion, then we recommend that you contact your Internet service provider for resolution.
Another factor that may cause the image quality issue is distance and potential sources of interference. We recommend positioning your Nest camera about 50 feet within a direct line of sight distance from the Wi-Fi router, and this range could be shorter if there are potential sources of interference such as thick walls, mirrors, windows, and competing signals from other wireless devices (microwaves, etc.).

Talk and Listen on Nest Cam Outdoor works one way at a time. So you'll need to take turns talking and listening.
To talk:
- Open the Nest app.
- Choose the camera you want to speak through.
- Tap the Talk button. The button will change to say "Done" and start pulsing.
- The camera will chime on the other end if you have the Talk and Listen tone enabled. This lets the person near the camera know you're about to say something.
- Start speaking.
To listen:
- When you're ready to hear the other person's reply, tap the Done button. Now you can hear the other person's reply.
- The camera will chime a second time on the other end if you have the Talk and Listen tone enabled. This lets the person near the camera know it's their turn to speak.

Blurry images may be linked to the bandwidth congestion on your Wi-Fi network. We recommend removing some of the connected devices on your Wi-Fi network and see if the video quality for your Nest camera will improve. Once you verify that there is congestion, then you may need to contact your Internet service provider for resolution.
We also suggest the steps below to help isolate the reason behind the motion detection issues for your Nest camera:
- Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints, and dirt can cause poor image quality.
- Turn your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view.
- Use the Nest app to zoom and enhance and crop out surfaces or objects that may be causing a glare.
- If you see a bright white shape along the edge while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view.
- Move nearby objects that may be reflecting the infrared light.

Contacted Google and they made me jump through hoops to get my parts. Again received the parts in the mail but they are the wrong parts. Tried to contact them but no response!!! Would love someone to contact me to get this corrected. Can’t use without those parts!!
