Outdoor installation wasn't very easy and it frequently drops Wifi and is offline. Picture quality is great and setup (app, software, etc...) was very simple.

I have three of these around my house. They are relatively easy to setup and install however if the network isn't strong they can go in and out. Great resolution and features when subscribed to Nest Aware. Pros: Always recording Can talk both ways Great Picture quality Cons: Expensive Need to have decently fast internet to work well

Overall the setup of the Nest Cam was pretty easy. First plug it in, inside your home to establish the WiFi connection. I then took it outside on an extension cord from my garage to make sure the mounting location gave me the view I wanted before mounting the metal plate to the wall. Then came the biggest challenge, routing the wire into the attic over my garage through the soffit. The place where I wanted to enter was blocked by a 2x6 supporting the roof, so I had to run the wire about 20" the get around this. This was actually the only part of the installation that didn't go smoothly. Once I had the wiring run into the attic and plugged back into the outlet there I fastened the wiring in place at three locations along the run and all was done. Very happy with how easy this went up and the clear picture it gives me of the cars in my driveway and the front of our house, since our neighborhood has had several vehicle break-ins recently.

We were in search of a basic, smart outdoor security camera system that worked with our existing smart home products. Since we are fans of the Nest products, quite naturally we choose Nest cameras. The cameras work very well, provide a very clear picture, clear sound, has a voice feature where you can both talk and listen to someone outside, both live and recorded activity can be viewed on your smart devices, the night vision is also good and they hold up great in inclement weather. The cameras come as a set which was great. These cameras are an outstanding value which is why I say that they perform better than expected. The only thing that I think that Nest could improve upon are the connection cords for the power source so that they can be less visible when mounted; however, their are creative things you can do to camouflage them (check out YouTube). Love the product!

I ha e four of these now. The video quality is amazing and are super easy to install. The night vision works really well. It would be nice if they made the connector a little smaller so you don’t have to drill a one inch hole in the wall to pass the cable. Other than that, fantastic cameras.

I started my wireless camera search a couple months ago and initially purchased The NetGear Arlo Pro system.....It looked amazing but ended up being expensive and disappointing......I has constant connectivity issues and I could only get 2 of the 4 cameras to operate at the same time so I returned it and purchased the above system. Well so far I'm in love with this system.....It is easy to set up, operate, has decent video quality and was cheaper!! I've had zero connectivity issues and just couldn't be happier......I do have to say I liked the batteryless feature of the NetGear cameras but then again nothing can compete with the raw power of an 120 volt electrical outlet........except a semi-smart thief who turns off the power so a backup power system is needed for all crucial operating systems (modem, router and cameras) and of course with wiring a person must plan a little better. So overall I give it 5 stars which isn't saying much except that it has met my expectations so far and would recommend this product for relatively easy and inexpensive video survellience.

Electrician installed due to the height camera needed be installed at, but it was no problem since it was close to a power source. Do not forget to set the camera up completely before hanging it. The unique code only printed on the back of the camera is needed for set up. Mine was hung by electrician before set up so I had to have him come back out to climb high to do set up by holding my phone close to camera as well as getting unique code off back.

I was in need of some security cameras due to some activity in our area. I purchased the Nest 2 pack and had both cameras up and running within an hour of getting back home with them. The video feed comes in via a app on my phone and or a PC/ MAC and both the picture and sound quality is perfect. As an extra bonus I found that there was an app for the Newest Apple TV which allows me to watch on the big screen and easily scroll to points of interest by double tapping the touchpad on the remote. This makes for a fast recap of captured activities. There is an option to communicate in app or on PC/MAC but I find that it is delayed so much that it's hard to communicate as the person usually walks away before they hear your talking to them. Also while you're talking it kills the sound so you can't hear them either. This is Not a deal breaker since I didn't buy it to communicate but if this is something you would need you may want to check into something else. ** I must say that I have a 150 mb up and 150 mb down internet connection so your results may be different.

I own the indoor model also, just purchased the outdoor model and would reccomend the outdoor model highly. Has an interesting magnetic mount that makes it a breeze to adjust the view. Works great day or night at low and high temperature, and a speaker function if you want to talk to someone that is detected.

Got the outdoor security camera to monitor property that is currently vacant. The setup was simple. Easy to connect to wifi. Picture and sound quality are good. Nest app is pretty straightforward on laptop and iPhone. Sharing feature for other family members is a great feature.

The outdoor security camera from Nest is everything you could want in a security camera. It is very well built for outdoor use. The installation was very simple as the Nest app handled most of the integration. The design is pretty ingenious and is simple to install. First add it to the system. The installation is also easy in that it mounts to a very syrong magnet that allows you to move it around to get the view you want. Bang you are done.

Very nice built quality camera. I'm amazed even by the product packaging details. Simple installation. Camera works 99% of the time except when the wifi signal connecting to the camera drops which is not the camera's fault. Although I had to install additional wifi extender to make sure camera stays connected. Web and phone UI is well designed. Push notifications to email and wear watch almost instantaneously. Very satisfy with my purchase.

I've had this Nest cam outdoor for several months now and haven't had any major issues. On initial setup, it took a 2-3 attempts to get connected, but the signal seems to reconnect itself just fine if there's a power failure or signal interruption. The power connection is a bit large and requires a 7/8"-1" hole to pass the cord through the wall to connect the power. (these units plug into an outlet and are not hardwired) So, as mentioned in other reviews; it would have been nice if the AC cord had some sort of snap connection or twist lock that would allow a smaller pass through hole. I can't speak too much on the interface aspects, but i haven't had any issues viewing my camera on my Samsung Android or Hp laptop. I did purchase a WiFi extender and plugged it in to the nearest window just in case there were issues of the signal passing thru concrete block. The subscription is a bit pricey, but the peace of mind out ways the cost. I live in Fla and was able to live watch my cameras while on vacation in California....i thought that was very cool! If you're away from home and the camera loses connection, I highly recommend you have your 6digit alpa/numeric camera code (embedded on the camera) to be able to manually re-connect to your home signal since you won't be able to physically scan the bar code on the camera itself. The camera has great daytime quality! For Night time quality, depending on the distance (maybe 15-20ft or so), you'd be able to capture facial features and sound, but certainly not a license plate of car passing by or something like that. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this camera for my personal needs.

Originally, I was looking for a way to waterproof and mount the Nest Cams outdoor. Then this came out - problem solved. Yes, the subscription gets expensive if you have multiple cams - a big consideration. I don't know why they do not give a discount now that there are other less expensive choices in the marketplace. However, I like their cams and have used them since they were known as Dropcams. Easy installation if you have power nearby.

Who this is for: People who want to keep tabs on welcome or unwelcome guests on the front porch, back deck, garage, pool area, driveway, or anywhere else outside. Why I like it: With the Nest, you get 24/7 recording in crystal-clear 1080p, rather than just clips of action. The camera sends smartphone alerts and keeps a detailed in-app timeline when motion occurs. More importantly, the Nest Cam Outdoor is the only camera we’ve found that’s completely waterproof, which includes the power cord and adapter. That means it can withstand the outdoor elements a lot longer than you can. It requires the Nest Aware subscription service if you want to view your footage.

Excellent pic quality. Wide view is awesome. But big negative.. must pay for the record and playback feature. If you don't, can only see still photo of something detected, back maybe a couple hours. Can view live which is nice but will eat phone battery. You do get notifications that something was noticed in the cameras view if you sign up for it. That part is free. You can hook up to a home computer and view live all day if wanted. Over all we like this camera. BUT, Can buy a DVR surveillance system and keep all your recordings for the price it would cost to have recordings saved to the cloud in a year. 30 bucks a month is one option, for 30 days of recordings. Will most likely buy another DVR system.

I have 2 Nest cameras already. I have the old DropCam for the inside and the Nest Outdoor camera which I recently bought and installed. I can say I'm really happy with these cameras. It's easy to setup, with crisp pictures, and configurations are practical enough. Sometimes, having too many options in the settings can make it too complicated for an average user. The only challenge I had with the setup is when it comes to the camera cable with a large cover head for the USB end which I think is almost 1 inch thick. I was hoping I could simply drill a small hole so the wiring is not visible. Since the location where I wanted to hook it up is against a concrete, I didn't bother as drilling a large hole may damage my wall. I end up simply wrapping the cabling around the edges of the garage door frame. It still ended up nicely but I'm hoping for future models to may be have an option where you can re-attach the covering for the USB from the other end. This will provide other users for a much better and cleaner installation. But other than the USB thing, everything is working out fine for me. I can view all my alerts from my smart phone and the video is coming out clear. If they correct the issue with the cable, I may purchase another one in the future.

This nest cam is the best.. easy install n good quality ... will buy again if I catch a good deal...

Works great with the App on cell phone. Picture is clear and has good night vision picture as well.
