Ever since Google tried to remove Nest from the picture, their products for the home are just terrible. Nothing works as well as the old Nest, or even the old DROPCAM that they forced me to remove and no longer would function. The 2nd gen will not connect very well to the rest of the network. You can no longer use the nest app for any new Google/Nest devices, and it keeps seeing "people" when there is no one. Never had a problem with old one before it died. I hope Apple gets into the game and starts making their own cameras, locks, and thermostats. This one I've had for a week and infuriated by it. Steer clear of the Google/Nest eco-system.

I’ve had trouble with the ring doorbell. I had to have help initially to get things set up right. Then it quit and I was given a replacement. When I hooked up the replacement, I couldn’t get it to set up correctly. Even though I’m a Total member I have had to pay $149 to get someone to come to our home to get it working. I feel like I’ve paid for this doorbell twice. Not the best experience.

This is the worst Google/Nest product they make. It’s laggy and has gone offline a dozen or so times in the 6 months I’ve had it. The pulldown notifications don’t actually show the camera and it takes 30-60 seconds for it to load if the doorbell rings at which point the person has left. I like the way it looks and that’s why it’s getting two stars instead of one.

Hi there, JBG117. Thanks for sharing your feedback on your Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). We apologize for the frustrating experience you've had. We understand how important it is for your doorbell camera to function reliably. The lag, offline periods, and slow loading times you're experiencing are less than ideal. A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches. Ensure you have a strong and stable internet connection and make sure it meets the doorbell's requirement. Regarding the video quality, you can try lowering the video resolution in the Google Home app. If you already tried the suggested steps, we recommend reaching out to our dedicated team of specialists on the Google Help Center here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I love the google doorbell its way better than the skybell I had. The notifications are not annoying and it works with My other smart home devices easily. Easy to install , Id recommend checking your transmitter to make sure it doesn't need to be upgraded before installing the ringer blew but it was an easy fix. The only negative is that once you update even just your wifi password I had to factory reset my bell and start all over. Losing my history but I was able to save the videos I wanted to keep to my phone. No way to just update the password to connect

When it comes to installation, nothing like the old model. Very hard to install. Doorbell chimes has different wires, etc. If I had known that I would have looked at other brands as well since it's like starting over again. Also, the new model is much bigger and an eyesore that some HOA's may be opposed to. The app doesn't work well either. They migrated over to a new app platform and now I have two doorbells on different apps.

I have 2 cameras still being used by the Nest app, the new gen 2 doorbell requires Google Home app. I upgraded/nstalled last weekend and the video preview on the notifications does not work properly. So every notification you receive will just be showing the outside of your house not of the person, animal, etc that triggered the notification. So literally for every notification if you want to see what happened you need to open the app. And yes, my notifications work, in my notifications you can see leaves moving on plants etc. Its like the notifications dont know which part of the recorded "action" it should sent to the notification. Will give google a few weeks to fix this or I will have to return it and re-purchase the gen 1 wired that works with the Nest app. Do not buy this until you have seen reviews where people have indicated notifications are working.

Hi there Sj24, thanks for choosing our Google Nest products. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the images for the notification feature of your Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen). We value your feedback and we'll make sure to pass this along to our product team since we're always searching for ways to improve our products and services.

Motion detection on Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. To further improve your alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
      1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
      2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
      3. Restart your Camera.

We're still hopeful that you will reconsider and keep using your Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen). For any other questions you may have, you're always welcome to contact our support team here:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hello there, JerryS. Thanks for the feedback, and we’re sorry to hear you ran into a connectivity issue with your Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen).

A range issue or wireless interference can affect the connectivity of your doorbell. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected. Your camera may be out of range due to weak signal, and wireless interference can give you trouble connecting Nest products or other wireless devices. It can also cause slow network communications or intermittent disconnections. So your Nest products might continuously disconnect and reconnect, or they may be slow to respond to app control. For more help, read Troubleshooting wireless interference here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9276282
